Chapter 24 CHAPTER 24
Chapter 24 CHAPTER 24
ZARA POV
I was sitting cross-legged on my bed, surrounded by a messy pile of books I’d just pulled from the shelf, flipping through the pages of a worn thriller book when the knock came at my door..
“Come in,” I said and sat up on the bed. I think Vera is back already.
The door swung open and Dylan stepped inside, closing it behind him with a soft click that somehow felt louder than it should have. His eyes locked on mine, dark and intense, and in two long strides, he crossed the room.
I got out of bed immediately as if it burned me. He didn't inform me that he was coming to my room.
I barely had time to stand before he backed me up against the wall, one hand planted beside my head, the other resting lightly on my waist. My breath caught in my throat seeing how romantic he has become.
“Is everything okay?” I asked him and he nodded.
“I actually missed you,” Dylan said, and I couldn't help but roll my eyes because I didn't know how to reply right now.
Last night, he asked me if I was going to stay but I disagreed with him that I want to go to my room. I think this is the second time I will turn down his request and he might have noticed that I have been doing that. He is sensitive and calculative so I know what he is capable of.
“I missed you too,” I said and his teeth grazed my earlobe.
“You are reading books?” Dylan asked, looking at the piles of books on the bed.
“Hmm. No.” I said and licked my lower lip to ease the tension.
“I was just looking for something but they are not what I want,” I said and he let me go. Dylan walked towards my bed and picked up some of the books which are not what I want.
“Do you want me to help you out? I actually have the kind of books you want.” Dylan said and instantly, I get the message. He is talking about all those romantic books he has in his room.
I'm even wondering why he has all those romantic books in his room. A man like Dylan is not even supposed to be interested in literature based on romance.
“No. I will look out for myself for the kind of books I want.” I told him and he nodded.
“If you need more books don't hesitate to call my name. I'm actually good at picking books.” Dylan said and I smiled.
“Of course. I will definitely call you.” I said and he returned the book before sitting on my bed.
“I actually came because I have something to tell you,” Dylan said and he hesitated for a second. I can see he is actually unwilling to say it but one thing I actually hate most is being put in the dark.
“What is it?” I asked him and he raked his hand through his hair.
“Zara,” he murmured, voice low and rough. I actually love the way my name always rolled out of his mouth. I don't think I will get tired of hearing him call my name.
“I want to take you out of the castle for a vacation,” Dylan said and my heart fluttered in my chest. If he is planning to take me out then he must have been planning it for a while.
“Where?” I asked him, trying not to act too ahead of myself.
Instead of answering, he leaned in and kissed me deep, slow, possessive. The kind of kiss that stole every thought from my head and left my knees weak. When he finally pulled back just enough to speak, his lips brushed mine with every word.
“Somewhere private,” he said, the corner of his mouth curving. “My penthouse,” Dylan whispered and I blinked, still dazed from the kiss.
“Your… penthouse?” I stuttered.
He nodded, thumb tracing my lower lip. “In the city two hours away. Just you and me. No distractions. No one else.” Dylan said and my heart skipped a beat.
Just me and Dylan all alone in his penthouse?
My pulse raced. I knew exactly which penthouse he meant. The sleek, luxurious one he rarely took anyone to and I have seen the picture online when I was still in college. The one that screamed escape and intimacy all at once.
I opened my mouth to protest, to say I had plans, responsibilities, but the way he was looking at me, like I was the only thing in his world made every excuse melt away. I didn't think I would be able to convince him. Dylan called it a vacation and with only him and me, I am sure we will eventually do the deed. I have been trying to escape it all this while but this time, I doubt there is anyone coming to save me.
I swallowed hard, then said, “Okay. I will come with you.” I said and Dylan's eyes lit up.
A satisfied smile spread across his face as he brushed a strand of hair behind my ear. The dimples on his cheeks show and he looked freaking cute.
“Good girl,” he murmured, pressing one last soft kiss to my forehead. “Pack light. We leave tonight.” Dylan said and I looked up at him with shock
“We are going tomorrow?” I asked him and he nodded.
“I don't think I will be able to…” My voice trailed off when Dylan cut me off with a finger pressed on my lips.
“Kate and Vera are going to help you out with packing. You don't have to do anything.” Dylan said and I creased my brows. Is he serious about that?
“You can trust them on that,” Dylan said and I know he is right..
“We will just be using a week and we will be back at the castle,” Dylan said and I nodded.
“It's okay. I actually can't disagree with you.” I told him.
