Chapter 91 They're Actually Triplets
In the dining room, Jasper was already dressed and freshened up, sitting properly at the dining table.
When Charles saw him, he smiled and waved, "Good morning, Ethan! Come try the scrambled eggs I made."
Jasper paused for a moment, then realized what was happening and sighed helplessly, "Dad, I'm Jasper. Ethan is still sleeping."
The smile on Charles's face froze. He studied Jasper carefully, noticing he looked almost identical to Ethan, except his eyes held more composure.
"You... you're also Emily's child?" Charles's voice carried disbelief.
Jasper nodded, taking a seat at the table and picking up a piece of toast, "Ethan, Emma, and I are triplets. Mom never told you."
Charles was completely stunned. He had always thought Emily had given birth to twins, never imagining they were actually triplets!
A surge of overwhelming joy flooded his heart, leaving him momentarily speechless.
Before long, Ethan woke up, too. After greeting Charles, he began eating heartily. Since starting his boxing training, his appetite had grown considerably.
Usually, Emily worried about him overeating and often controlled his portions. But Charles had never raised children. How would he know what constituted a normal child's appetite?
Whenever he saw Ethan's plate empty, he immediately refilled it, allowing Ethan to have a proper feast for once. This significantly boosted Ethan's favorable impression of Charles.
Charles watched them, his eyes filled with happiness.
As breakfast was ending, Jasper set down his milk glass and suddenly looked at Charles with seriousness beyond his years. "Dad, I need to talk to you."
Charles put away his smile and looked at him seriously, "Go ahead, Jasper."
"I know you're our father, and I know you care about Mom. But if you dare treat Mom badly or make her sad, I'll take Mom, Ethan, and Emma away from Emerald City. We'll never come back, and I'll never acknowledge you as our father."
Charles looked into Jasper's earnest eyes without any hint of dismissal. Instead, he nodded solemnly, "Jasper, I promise you. I'll treat your mother well for the rest of my life. I'll never let her suffer even the slightest grievance. I'll prove it through my actions and won't disappoint any of you."
Jasper studied the sincerity in Charles's eyes and nodded with satisfaction.
Not bad. For now, this father had passed the test.
After breakfast, Charles drove the children to school.
Nathan had already parked the car outside. When he saw the children coming out, he quickly went to open the car doors. Charles followed behind, watching as all three children settled into the back seat before getting into the passenger seat himself.
The car started smoothly. Throughout the ride, Emma and Ethan chattered away, sharing interesting stories from school with Charles, while Jasper leaned against the window, occasionally adding a comment or two. The atmosphere was so warm that even Nathan couldn't help stealing glances through the rearview mirror.
At the school entrance, Charles personally got out to help the children unbuckle their seatbelts.
"Be good at school, and call me if you need anything." He crouched down, gently patting each of the three children's heads.
"We know, Dad! See you later!"
Before leaving, Emma specifically ran to him, stood on her tiptoes, and kissed his cheek. "Dad, remember to pick us up after school this afternoon!"
Charles smiled and nodded, ruffling her hair. "Of course, sweetheart. Dad will definitely be here."
Emma waved her little hand as she ran into the school with Ethan and Jasper.
Charles stood there, watching their figures disappear through the school building entrance before turning back to the car.
As they drove toward Starlight Manor, Nathan hesitated before finally speaking up, "Mr. Windsor, should we do something about Clara?"
Charles leaned back in his seat. At the mention of Clara's name, his brow immediately furrowed. "If word of this gets out, I'm the one who'll be embarrassed."
The thought of being manipulated by Clara and nearly making a fool of himself filled him with anger.
Nathan was taken aback, not expecting Charles to respond this way. "But what about Ms. Johnson..."
"Keep it quiet for as long as possible."
Emily already disliked Clara, and by extension, disliked him. If Emily found out he'd fallen for Clara's scheme, she'd definitely think he had some kind of private relationship with Clara.
Emily would only avoid him more.
That wasn't the outcome he wanted.
Nathan nodded, "Understood. But Mr. Windsor, what about Elodie and Jasper..."
Charles thought for a moment before saying, "Prepare a gift and send it to Elodie's house. Tell her we'd appreciate it if she didn't voluntarily share this information with others."
He knew Elodie was Emily's best friend. If Emily really asked about it, Elodie would definitely side with Emily.
In the eyes of outsiders, he was the powerful, intimidating Charles Windsor, whom everyone feared. But to these people, he was nothing.
"As for Jasper and the other two children, I'll handle them."
"Right away, sir." Nathan asked again, "And what about Clara? How should we deal with her?"
Charles looked at the scenery flashing by outside the window, his expression gradually turning cold and ruthless, "I won't dirty my hands dealing with her personally. Let Simon handle it."
Nathan felt a chill. Although Simon was ruthless and had tried to destroy Emily, he had always treated Clara fairly well. Now, having him personally punish the daughter he had such high hopes for.
He wondered how Celeste would react.
Charles returned to Starlight Manor, intending to check on Emily, only to discover that the workaholic had already gone to the office. So he drove to the Windsor Group instead.
As soon as he entered his office, he had Nathan contact Simon.
Simon was in the middle of a meeting with Mirage Fashion's executives when he received the call.
Upon hearing that Charles wanted to see him, he immediately ended the meeting. Without even changing clothes, he grabbed his coat and rushed to the Windsor Group.
His heart was full of anticipation. Charles had recently suspended cooperation and funding with Mirage Fashion, but now he was suddenly asking to meet. Perhaps he wanted to restore their partnership, or even deepen their collaboration.
After all, Clara had been by Charles's side. Even if nothing had come of it, she should have some influence.
Simon urged his driver to speed up the entire way, arriving at the Windsor Group building in half an hour. He straightened his suit before following the receptionist to the top floor.
When the elevator doors opened and he saw Nathan standing at the office entrance, Simon quickly put on an ingratiating smile, "Nathan, is Mr. Windsor inside?"
"Please go in, Mr. Johnson. Mr. Windsor is waiting for you."
Simon hurried inside to see Charles sitting behind his desk, head down, reading documents.
The office was eerily quiet, with only the soft sound of papers rustling.
He approached cautiously, "Mr. Windsor, you wanted to see me?"
Charles threw a document onto the desk, "Take a look at the wonderful thing your daughter Clara has done."
