Chapter 160 Will

Chapter 160 Will

Arthur couldn't persuade her anymore and stood near Silas. Seeing Silas, everyone became well-behaved.

The funeral continued.

Less somber now, more absurd.

Astrid's face was deathly pale. She cooperated with the funeral proceedings and said nothing more.

The funeral finally ended, and all the guests left.

Silas held Astrid's hand and walked outside.

Autumn came in with some people, heading straight toward them.

"Silas, I can't leave right now. You go ahead." Astrid recognized the person—it was the lawyer who had appeared when Garth was poisoned.

"I'll stay with you." Silas didn't let go of her hand, answering calmly.

His grip even tightened a bit.

Astrid felt his concern, turned her head, and smiled at him. "They won't stop until they get what they want. You already intimidated them just now—no one will dare hurt me again."

She knew that if he stayed, everyone would hold back for now, but once Silas left, they would all show their true colors. She couldn't escape it.

But she felt confident she could handle it.

"Trust me." Astrid blinked at him, forcing a smile.

Silas reached out and brushed her nose, his eyes showing both affection and trust.

"Of course I trust you."

"Call me if anything comes up." Silas reluctantly let go of her hand.

"Okay." Astrid walked him to the parking lot, watched him get in the car, then turned back.

In the room, Dean, Autumn, and Arthur sat with serious expressions. On the table in front of them lay a document. The lawyer solemnly explained his purpose.

"This is the final confirmed will. At Garth's request, it was to be presented only after his funeral. From here on, my team and I will guide you through the process."

Autumn snatched the document first, read through it carefully, then threw it back on the table.

"You bring us a fake will to fool us? Do you think the Prescott family has never seen anything?"

The lawyer answered respectfully but firmly, "Autumn, you're wrong about that. We have no financial relationship with the Prescott family, and there's no question of us playing tricks on you."

"Bullshit! Nothing in here makes sense. My father would never do this!" Autumn's face flushed red with anger.

While they argued, Dean had already skimmed through the key parts of the will. His face grew darker, and he looked at the lawyer in disbelief.

"When my father was poisoned, he made a will. None of us siblings agreed with that will. This one looks no different from that one."

"Father knew this would cause conflict among us siblings, so he wouldn't do this!"

"Did something happen that you can't tell us about?"

As he protested and questioned, his eyes swept over Astrid.

Astrid hadn't reached for the will, but hearing this, she confirmed that Garth had really left the shares to her.

The lawyer stood in the middle, being pressed by them, maintaining his professional composure.

"You should respect Garth's decision instead of questioning it. Trust our professionalism."

Catherine's voice wasn't loud, but carried an unmistakable jealousy.

"When Garth had his incidents, Astrid was always the first to step up. She did everything she could, even went abroad to find specialists to treat him."

"It was also Astrid who turned Garth's small company from losses to profits. Garth valued Astrid's business ability and thought she was responsible. He believed the Prescott family's future couldn't do without Astrid."

"So transferring most of his shares to Astrid is perfectly reasonable. Unlike some people who did everything to ruin the Prescott family's reputation, yet still tried to win favor during Garth's final days to trick him out of shares."

"Who are you talking about?" Autumn instantly flew into a rage, glaring at Catherine.

"Whoever responds has a guilty conscience." Catherine's tone remained sarcastic.

Autumn glared at her, wishing she could tear her mouth apart.

"Enough, Autumn. Father's decision is final. Stop making a scene." Arthur stood beside Catherine with a cold face, pulling her into his arms protectively.

"Whatever needs to be done next, we'll fully cooperate," Arthur said righteously to the lawyer, then looked at Astrid.

"Astrid, let's go home."

Astrid didn't want to argue pointlessly with Autumn and the others either. She followed them out of the room and back to the side building where they lived.

Dean and Autumn were very dissatisfied, but with the lawyer present, they couldn't rush forward to grab the will. They could only watch helplessly as they left.

Garth had prepared this will when none of them were on guard, catching them completely off guard. He really did favor Astrid.

After the lawyers finished coordinating with Astrid, Arthur warmly saw them out.

Astrid was also preparing to leave. She wanted to look around Garth's room.

"Astrid, give the shares your grandfather left you to Isabella. I'll compensate you in cash, enough for you to live comfortably for the rest of your life."

Arthur's tone wasn't kindly negotiating, nor was it forcefully commanding.

That he could go this far showed how desperately he wanted those shares.

In his heart, only Isabella was his daughter.

Astrid's lips curved in a mocking smile. "I'm Mrs. Montgomery now. I can have anything I want. Do you think I need your little bit of money?"

"Besides, I've already promised grandfather's shares to someone else."

Astrid said this coolly and left the room.

Behind her came the sound of Arthur smashing a teacup.

Garth's room had already been cleaned out. All the valuable things were gone—no trace of Garth's existence could be found.

A wave of sadness washed over Astrid.

Garth had worked tirelessly for the Prescott family for decades, building the family's wealth, and his funeral had just ended, yet the family was already torn apart. Everyone was busy dividing up the power and influence he had left behind.

Astrid looked around and finally spotted Rolf on the terrace.

He sat in Garth's usual spot, calmly drinking coffee. Seeing Astrid, he showed no surprise.

Seeing him, Astrid's eyes remained calm.

"Sit. Have some coffee." Rolf said elegantly.

Astrid sat down across from him, her expression unchanged.

To her right appeared a document titled "Share Transfer Agreement."

Astrid's eyes were clear as she spoke steadily, "After Uncle Rolf gets these shares, you'll have 30% of Prescott Jewelers, right? Even so, the shares you and Isabella hold together would just tie."

"Let me guess—to win, you've also bought quite a few scattered shares, haven't you?"
