Chapter 185 A Happy Ending
Chapter 185 A Happy Ending
Many years later, after considering the prosperity and peace that the city of Tenebrous had experienced, the city council decided to hold a ceremony in honor of the people that made it possible. The Ravenswood family, and their pack.
The city square had never been this alive. Banners waved proudly in the summer breeze, bearing the twin crests that represented the city–Alex’s wolf pack symbol, and the golden star of the city. A massive stage had been set, decorated with white roses and moon lilies, symbols of Luna and rebirth in honor of Avery. From every corner of the city, people had gathered–humans and supernaturals.
“Today,” the council chairman's voice boomed through the square. “We celebrate not just the triumph of rebuilding, but the legacy of the family who led us through darkness into the light.”
A roar of applause rose from the crowd and cameras flashed vigorously.
From the side steps of the stage emerged Alex Ravenswood, the Alpha and Mayor of Tenebrous. His aura alone commanded silence, but the respect he had earned could be seen on the face of every person in the crowd. The once feared reclusive Alpha, now a symbol of balance and justice, walked with quiet grace, but his eyes searched for one face only–his queen.
Avery was right beside him, radiant and beautiful as the Luna she was. Her smile carried both the serenity of a queen and the fire of the woman who had once defied monsters, men, and death itself. Her hand held that of a young boy who was about eight years old, but already tall for his age. He carried the handsome looks of his father, and the beautiful eyes of his mother.
Marlboro Ravenswood.
Named in honor of the great detective who gave his life in service to justice, the boy was already becoming a legend despite his age. Born under a rare blood moon, and blessed with the gift of the Lupine Dominion and his mothers lunar powers. The elders themselves have even confirmed his shifting abilities, describing him as carrying the potential of a true Alpha.
He was the embodiment of the new world, and on this day, he would witness what it meant to build a legacy.
As the Ravenswoods took their place at the center of the stage, the crowd bowed in respect before finally standing in reverent silence.
The council chairman announced proudly. “Today, we honor not just our leaders, but our protectors. Mayor Alex and Avery Ravenswood did not just end a war, they changed the fate of our world.”
Tears glimmered in many eyes. Older citizens remembered the riots, the fear, and the great war for the survival of the city years ago. Newer generations only knew peace, but they all understood who had made it possible.
Simon stood proudly in the front row, Member of the Supernatural High Council, and Commander of the Supernatural Defense Force. Beside him was his wife Melora, poised, graceful, and leading as the Head of the High Council, watching with pride as the people who had given her a new life after their meeting in Serynthia took the stage. Rufus, in his dark badge decorated suit as Chief of Police, leaned slightly toward Jessica, who was holding their one year old daughter, Lily, in her arms. They had also gotten married in a quiet beach ceremony four years earlier, and their love still radiated like wildfire.
Alex stepped forward to speak.
“I once believed that strength meant standing alone,” he began, in a low but powerful voice. “That true leadership was determined by control, and that love was a weakness.”
He paused, and his eyes fell on Avery, then on their son. A faint smile came to his lips.
“I was wrong.”
The crowd listened attentively, hanging on to every word.
“It was love that made me strong, and it was the bond of family that taught me how to lead. It was unity and not dominance that helped me rebuild this city. We were broken once, but together we have created something unbreakable together.”
Avery stepped beside him to speak, emotional, but keeping her voice steady.
“This city taught me what courage truly is, that it is not found in elaborate gestures or impossible battles. It is in the quiet choice to believe, to keep hoping, and to love again even after the world tells you not to.”
She reached for Marlboro's hand and brought him beside her.
“This is our legacy, not just him,” she said, kissing her son’s forehead. “But all of us. The future is not one born of bloodlines or magic alone, it is built on the promises we keep, and the peace we protect.”
The audience were already clapping and cheering wildly. The humans wiped away tears of joy, the wolves howled to the sky, and the other supernaturals cheered in their own way.
Then came the final moment of the day.
The unveiling.
A large drape was pulled back, revealing another gold statue next to detective Mark Marlboro's own in the middle of the square. It was beautifully crafted, and it depicted Alex and Avery standing side by side, hands joined together, and looking toward the horizon. Around them, carved in a half circle, were the faces of their core pack members. Simon, Melora, Rufus, and Jessica. The heroes who had championed the fight for their freedom.
At their feet, carved in silver were the words:
“United Not by Blood, But by Bond. Protectors of Tenebrous.”
Alex felt Avery grip his hand tighter as her eyes glistened with tears.
Later that night, after the celebrations had died down, the family gathered on the rooftop of the estate as the moon bathed the garden in its brilliant silver light. Simon brought the wine. Melora conjured floating lights. Rufus grilled steak and argued with Jessica over seasoning, and their laughter echoed into the night.
Marlboro was playing with Lily in a corner, while Alex leaned back with one hand on Avery’s growing belly. They were expecting their second child–a girl this time.
Avery watched their son run, then looked up at Alex.
“Did you ever imagine us getting here?”
Alex chuckled softly. “I imagined it everyday, my only fear was that I would not survive long enough to see it.”
“You did more than survive,” she said lovingly. “You made it possible.”
He leaned down and kissed her softly.
“No,” he said with a small smile. “We made it possible together, but I was mostly following your light.”
From the estate's roof, the city glowed in the distance, bathed beautifully in golden lights. The towers of Ravenswood Industries shone, and the old design firm Avery had bought now bore a new name–Lunar Digital Designs, and Jessica was thriving as its CEO.
In the city itself, murals painted across buildings proudly showed scenes from the war and the rebuilding. Children in their beds listened to stories of the city’s heroes and their exploits, and how it became possible for the supernaturals to mingle openly with human families. Peace, real peace, had come.
As the moon reached its peak, casting its final light over the rooftop of the estate, Avery wrapped her arms around her son, her husband, and her unborn child.
She breathed in the night.
They had fought for this.
And now…
They lived it.
The End.
Dear Listeners,
Thank you for journeying with Avery and Alex on their adventures. I hope you enjoyed the story as much as I did writing it.
Avery and the Cursed Alpha is a story of hope, self-discovery and development. Avery started off as a poor college graduate with huge debts and insecurities at home and office. But, what she thought was her weakness, her gift of seeing hidden patterns, turned out to be her strength and solution to billionaire alpha Alex's problem, Lunarium. They thought their love was forbidden and had a fake relationship, only to realize that they were meant to be together. Even the terrible Lunarium had its purpose: to destroy the highest evil.
Whatever challenge you are facing, do not lose hope. Find the strength hidden in your weakness. Ask God for help and be attentive. I wish you joy, peace and progress.
Do well to write a review for this story. It will really help me.
Thank again.
I love you.
Lyra Lupine.
