Twenty seven

“What?” Kyra let out a loud gasp of surprise. Did he just ask her if she wanted him to give her a position in his pack just like that?

“Do you want me to give you a position here,” he repeated, still playing with the strand of her hair, twisting it around his finger and releasing it, then repeating the process over and over again.

He made it sound like giving her a position here was so easy, like it was not a big deal. It really wasn’t because he was the alpha and he could do anything he wanted.

“No, please I don’t want any position in your pack,” No way was she going to let him raise her position when she’s already made up her mind to live low key. She was doing this for her baby rather than for herself. If she remained living in the background like a slave then soon enough everyone would forget that she existed and she would be left to live her life in peace.

Today already showed her that she was unfit for the high society life like her father had always told her. All she had to do was attend a party and she got attacked. Thank goodness alpha Anton stood up for her if not she would have been severely humiliated.

Kyra could feel her wolf fighting hard in her head and trying to say something to her but she fought back and shoved her down. No way was she going to allow her wolf to speak to her and try to get her to change her mind.

Anton cocked his head to the side as his dark eyes bored deeply into hers like he wanted to see through to her soul. “You really don’t want any position?”

“I really don’t want any position but thank you for offering.” A stranger was giving her what her father couldn’t give her even when  it was her birthright, she felt touched. He even offered it like it was the most normal thing ever. Kyra knew that it was also because of her royal blood. He surely wouldn’t offer this kind of golden opportunity to just anyone.

Anton gave one sharp nod. “Okay.”

There was a little silence as he continued to play with her hair while they both stared into each other’s eyes before Anton spoke again.

"And when you say that you are no longer in the sand position you were in your father’s pack, I understood you more than you could imagine."

"So?"

He leaned even closer to her, invading her space. "So, you are no longer with your father, you need to let go of his teachings, whatever they may have been, and learn how to protect yourself. A lady who belongs to me must learn to be outspoken and fearless.  And, you belong to me!”

This was the second time he was saying she belonged to him and Kyra couldn’t help but read more meaning into his words even if he was referring to the fact that he bought her or that she was now part of his pack.

"What are you saying, Alpha Anton?" Kyra snapped as she sprang up to her feet.

She combed her hands through her hair as she stared at moved away from him. To her, those words had romantic intentions and she didn't like it. He had been treating her kinder than normal, and that was not right. There should be a way to make him see that she was not like other women. She was pregnant!

Had he bought other women too like the maids had said on her first night here? Did he also treat them so well in their first moments here only to dump them later? What if this was some sort of game to entertain him? Maybe he loves buying high class women who are supposed to be unreachable then he would break and ruin them. Oh blessed goddess, why has she not thought in this direction before but allowed her emotions to cloud her common sense?

"Did I say anything wrong?" He asked tersely as he slowly rose to his feet from where he had been kneeling on the floor before her.

Kneeling! Why was an alpha kneeling? This was just a game to him! Maybe he was a psychopath and that was why his mate ran off with another man.

Did he try to make her strong and unruly and when she refused he would flip and go all alpha on his mate like he did to her tonight? The more she thought about it the more it made sense to her.

She spun on her heels and glared at him as he remained in that same position. "Everything you said is wrong. I'm not yours. I'm my own person and just because you bought me from my father, doesn't mean you own me!"

It was a lie, he owns her now and there was no arguing that. He could kill her and the world wouldn’t care because he was an alpha. She was in his room that was so dark and everyone was asleep, he could do anything to her right here and now and there would be no stopping him.

Kyra watched as he calmly began to move closer to her, his eyes zeroing in on her like he wanted to trap her to the ground with his eyes. She took several steps back as he moved over to her. They continued like this until he had her backed against the wall. He always did this. He was trying to intimidate her. Her analysis about him was correct. Something must be wrong with his head!

She couldn't look away as he placed his hands on either side of her, trapping her between him and the wall with no space for her to escape. His refreshing scent filled her nostrils and she cursed him in her heart when she got the urge to hug and rub herself all over him.
