Chapter 29
Chapter 29
The day slipped away in fragments of tears and suffocating silence. Alexandria never made it to any of her classes, she didn’t even try. After the call with her mother ended, the weight of everything came crashing down so violently that she couldn’t move.
She stayed curled on the couch for hours with her knees pulled tight to her chest, sobbing until her eyes were swollen shut and her throat felt like it had been scraped raw. The half-eaten bowl of yogurt sat abandoned on the table, turning warm and sour.
The notes she had planned to review, the library session she had promised herself, all of it dissolved into nothing. How could she do any of that when she couldn't even stop crying?
She cried for the girl she had wanted to become, the strong, independent version who had moved to New York to prove she could stand on her own. She cried because no matter how hard she scrubbed herself in the shower earlier, she could still feel Jonathan everywhere.
His hands on her hips, his cock stretching her open, the wet heat of him spilling deep inside her. The soreness between her legs throbbed with every shift, it was a constant, humiliating reminder of how completely she had surrendered.
By late afternoon, exhaustion dragged her to the bedroom. She lay on her back staring at the ceiling blankly with tears slipping silently down her temples and soaking into the pillow. The self-loathing was vicious. She had let her professor fuck her again, at first, she had only had sex with him because he was just a random stranger, and now, she had let him fuck her even knowing exactly who he was.
She drifted off into a restless sleep which lasted for a couple of hours, and then she woke up only to cry again about everything. Evening came slowly, painting the penthouse in soft shadows. The sound of her phone buzzing finally broke the unnerving silence of the apartment.
An unknown number flashed across the screen. Alexandria stared at it blankly, she was in no mood to talk at all. She almost let it go to voicemail, but something magnetic pulled her thumb across the screen
"Hello?” Her voice was hoarse, cracked from hours of crying.
“Alexandria." Jonathan Vance's unmistakable voice sounded from the other side. And she wasn't even surprised really, perhaps a part of her had been anticipating his call, perhaps a part of her had known he'd call.
"Meet me in my car downstairs.”
The order sent a violent shiver racing through her body. She wanted to scream at him, to rage and curse him for destroying her peace, for making her feel this addicted, this weak. But another part of her, the quieter and far more dangerous part felt a rush of desperate relief just hearing him.
Before she could form a single word, the line went dead, and Alexandria sat frozen on the edge of her bed with her phone still pressed to her ear. Her hands trembled as her pride screamed at her to ignore him. To stay upstairs and never speak to him again. But her body was already moving like the traitor that it was.
She pulled herself together as best she could. Splashed cold water on her swollen, red face, she brushed her tangled hair into a loose ponytail. She still looked wrecked; pale, fragile, eyes puffy, but she went downstairs anyway.
Her heart pounded so hard she felt dizzy. The sleek black sedan was waiting at the curb, engine idling softly. She opened the passenger door and slid inside quietly. Jonathan sat in the driver’s seat, still dressed in his work clothes, he looked like he had just left campus.
The familiar scent of him filled the confined space, clean cologne mixed with the faint warmth of his skin, and her body clenched involuntarily. He didn’t drive away.
He inclined his head to face her.
“How are you doing?” he asked, his voice was low and measured.
Alexandria stared straight ahead through the windshield, her jaw was clenched tight. She didn’t answer, she didn’t know what to say.
She'd spent the entire day crying because of him. What could she possibly say? 'I feel disgusting and used and I still want you so badly it terrifies me?'
The silence stretched. Jonathan waited a beat, then spoke again, calm and direct.
“We need to talk about last night.”
Her stomach twisted violently.
“We didn’t use protection,” he continued. “I came inside you. Are you on birth control?”
The question hit her like ice water. Alexandria’s breath caught sharply, only then did the full weight of her stupidity crash over her. She was eighteen. Inexperienced, naive. And she had let her professor fuck her raw without a single thought about consequences.
She shook her head slowly, fresh tears burning in her eyes.
“No,” she whispered, voice barely audible. “I’m not on anything.”
Worry bloomed fast and ugly in her chest.
What if she got pregnant? What if one reckless night destroyed everything she had worked for?
Jonathan exhaled slowly through his nose as though he could sense her spiralling.
“Calm down,” he said. “It’s my fault. I forgot how young and inexperienced you are. I should have been more careful.”
He reached into the glove compartment and pulled out a small packet of pills. Emergency contraceptives. He held them out to her.
“Take these. Follow the instructions. Everything should be fine if you take them within the window.”
Alexandria took the packet with trembling fingers. She stared at it for a long, humiliating moment, shame was burning hotter than ever, then she swallowed both pills as he offered her water.
Silence stretched between them again, and she felt so restless. Finally, Jonathan spoke.
“If you want to put this behind us,” he said, voice steady and controlled, “I’ll let you drop my class. I can make the transfer smooth. No questions asked. You won’t have to see me again if that’s what you want.”
The words landed like a slap across her face. It was entirely unexpected. Something ugly and painful twisted deep in her chest, something caught between hurt, anger, and humiliation.
He was offering her an escape now. Now that he had gotten what he wanted again, like she was disposable. Like last night had simply been another conquest. Her hands fisted tightly in her lap.
“So that’s it?” she snapped, voice cracking with raw emotion. “You finally got into my pants again and now you’re done with me? Just like that? Drop your class and pretend none of this ever happened? Fuck you.”
The words flew out before she could stop them.
Jonathan’s expression changed instantly. The calm concern vanished. In its place was the cold, dominant man she both feared and craved. His jaw tightened, eyes darkening with warning.
“For a moment,” he said, his voice was low and dangerously soft, “I forgot how much of a brat you still are.”
The words cut deep and she winched.
"Get out of my car.”
Alexandria stared at him, tears burning in her eyes. For one painful second she wanted to take it back. To beg him not to send her away. But the look on his face was final.
She yanked the door open with shaking hands and stepped out onto the sidewalk. Before she could even close the door fully, Jonathan pulled away from the curb. The sleek black sedan disappeared smoothly into the evening traffic without a backward glance. She stood there alone, staring after his taillights until they vanished completely.
