CHAPTER 15

Nate kisses her breasts breast over and over.

“ Stop. It’s too late we need to sleep.”

“No. No. No. No.” He whines like a baby.

After continuing for minutes he comes up and kisses her lips. He grabs the sheet as he rolls over to her right.

“I saw you talking to Steven today.” He says, looking his beautiful naked wife.

“And?”

“Nothing. Liked like he was enjoying your company.”

“I hope so that he did.”

He waits for her to elaborate. To explain those laughs and giggles and smiles and whispers.

But Michaela ignores him and closes her eyes, tilting her head away from him intending to sleep. Nate is too focused on today's encounter.

“What were you guys taking about?”

“Nothing. Just about things that don't matter.”

“It didn't look like it.”

She turns get head to get a better look at him.

“why are you so interested? We had stuff to talk about. Boring and nonsensical stuff. What is the matter with you. You don't question me like that when I talk to other people. Why are you bothered about Steven?”

Her annoyance frustrated him.

“ Why can’t you just tell me? Why ask so many questions. Unless you too have become best friends over kitchen, I don’t see a goddam reason why you being so secretive.”

“ I want to learn horse riding.” She answers bluntly.

“f From him? Huh! Why?”

“ What do you mean why? Because I think he is good with Marcus and I want to be that good with Cherry. That’s why.”

“ I can teach you. So don’t bother going to him for that.”

He huffs and goes to sleep.

“ I want to learn from him. If I wanted to learn horse riding from you , I would have approached you. So thank you, but I’ll stick with Steven.”

She huffs back and goes to sleep.

She lays stagnant. What is wrong with him? He is behaving so out of character that even Michaela is confused. He sudden need for control threatens her. At first she understood where he was coming from, but when he persisted with his lack of understanding, she knew she had to hold her ground. He couldn’t always have things his way. For all she knows, she still isn’t that okay with Cassy. It took her a while, but then she had to wrap her head around the fact that she was the closest friend in his life and she expected the same from Nate. To respect her choices and decisions. The one task he was miserably failing at.

She tries to quieten her mind, waiting for sleep to come. It is only an hour and a half later that she senses Nate move. He leaves the trailer quietly, trying to not wake Michaela up. She feels weird watching him leave her alone in the dark. Was he that offended?
