Chapter 24 25
Chapter 26
DIMITRI VALEQUEZ
I moved with great speed sharing control with Ryker, ripping out the hearts of a few vampires from Nikola's army. I glanced around to find armies from the other magical kingdom had joined the war, I could even see a few kings fighting in the war. This was the moment everyone had waited for desperately for years. The day we'd finally get revenge for what the vampire king had done to us fourteen years ago.
Just at the thought I felt the hairs on my skin rise in anger and displeasure and I knew who it was. I had been waiting for him.
I turned around to see Nikola miles away watching him, and suddenly he vanished. A smirk formed on my lips as I followed his scent to the large meadow near the woods.
“Come out, Nikola. It's time to end this,” I counted my words, glancing around.
Nikola stepped out with a smile and a sword in his hand. “Are you always this impatient?”
“When it comes to those I can't wait to kill,” I said.
“I was displeased at the mess you made in my mansion,” He stepped forward.
“I'm glad you feel that way, Nikola,”
“Adriana is such a rare beauty, isn't she?” He took another step closer. “Beautiful and powerful. Perfect woman to become my bride, I can't wait to see her have my heir,”
My jaw clenched and my fist balled at the garbage leaving his lips. I heard Ryker's angry growls, demanding I take out the Phoenix dagger in my boots and end Nikola now.
“That can only happen in your dreams. Adriana is my mate and no one, could take her away from me, so shut the fuck up and let me end you,” I muttered, balling my fists, letting Ryker share equal control with me.
I sped, punching his face with my fists. The sword in his grip fell to the ground. I grabbed his collar, punching his face repeatedly while having us move around in fast motion. At my last attempt, he blocked my punch slamming me against the trunk of a tree.
I elongated my razor claws diving deep at him at my fastest speed, tearing open his neck. And as quickly he healed back.
"I cannot be killed. I thought you knew that already since sweet Adriana handed over to me the Phoenix sword," He flung both hands in the air, making his point. I repressed laughter at his ignorance. "But I can kill you," His smile deepened.
I returned his sick smile and we engaged in a fist battle with our wounds healing as quickly as they came. He smirked and tossed me across the field. I landed swiftly before I could crash and charged at him barring my canines at his neck and ripped his flesh out.
I took out the Phoenix dagger and Nikola's eyes narrowed on it.
“That's…” His eyes widened.
“The original Phoenix dagger, not the fake Adriana handed to you,” I smiled. “You're going to pay for what happened to Zoey, and everyone you killed fourteen years ago,”
He attacked me brutally. "I will kill you and burn your entire kind to the ground. And then, I will have my beloved lying next to me every night while I make love to her,"
I chuckled. "That will never happen. Haven't you realized it already? I'm written in her destiny. We've been bound by a force far greater than you and there's nothing you can do to change that" I clawed at his body.
His jaw tightened. "We will see about that," He lunged at me but I blocked it. He kept attacking me but I dodged it.
I lunged at him but he dodged and we engaged in another chase and fight. Nikola attacked me more fiercely and viciously than he did before. His fangs barred my skin and my neck. That was how I got him, sharpened my claws, and tore open the flesh of his stomach. Before he could heal completely, with a swift move, I pierced the Phoenix dagger into his heart.
Nikola groaned palely, dropping to his knees, his dark eyes kept boring into mine. His skin turned ghost white, it completely lost all colors. Black lines popped from his veins as he breathed his last.
I touched him, his body was frozen and completely cold. I breathed out in relief, turning around to attack the person behind me only to find Adriana.
She was covered in blood but I could tell it wasn't hers. Her eyes fell on Nikola's body and tears filled her gaze. “I can't believe every tragedy happened all because of one person,”
I wrapped my arms around her, pulling her to my body. “Everything will be fine now. Nikola's is gone and we'll win this war,”
Adriana stepped forward and touched Nikola's frozen body, muttering a few chants, and right before our eyes, Nikola's body turned to dust carried away by the wind.
It was truly over. And just then, we heard the sound of the horn being blown by our warriors. It meant one thing. The war was over, and the vampire king was dead. And we won.
I pulled Adriana back into my arms, crashing my lips against hers, and she instantly pulled me closer, kissing me back with similar passion.
“I love you, Adriana, always and forever,” I needed her to know.
And a smile found her lips. “I love you too, Dimitri Blackford,”
