Chapter 17 18
Chapter 19

NIKOLA VLADIMIR

He leaned back into his chair, eyes closed tight as one of the vampires recounted their failures in tonight's mission. Nikola was beyond furious as he tapped his fingers against the spotlessly clean glass table.

After the vampire warrior had finished speaking, Nikola opened his eyes. The warrior lowered his gaze at the sight of Nikola's glowing red eyes. He couldn't believe he had idiots as warriors. All of them were completely useless. They had one mission. Retrieve the Phoenix sword the witch Esther has created that was rumored was powerful enough to kill him, and while doing so, bring in the last living Halo witch with the Blackrose blood in her veins.

Even after sending an army of vampires and a few of his witches to guarantee the mission's success, these imbeciles still failed. And worse, there hadn't even been a fight. Dimitri Valequez had walked away not only with the weapon that could end his existence permanently but also with Adriana Blackrose, the woman he was slowly getting obsessed with, the witch Esther Blackrose's youngest daughter.

Nikola had searched for her throughout these years, but Adriana was just as clever as her mother had been and kept herself hidden. The last time he'd been so close to finding Adriana was years ago when his witches had seen the beacon of her magic during her first shift, but before his dad's witches could successfully reach her, Adriana had completely vanished and she made sure to live her life without having to use her magic so not to track her.

Nikola was beyond surprised when he learned from the witches who had attacked the Crescent Moon Pack that Dimitri's human mate was a bloody witch and soon, the little witch of a spy he had placed in Dimitri's pack, Sabrina Brooke, confirmed the young Alpha King's mate was Esther's child he'd been searching for. Adriana Blackrose had more powers than any witch he had, and to completely finish off everyone who survived his attack from fourteen years ago, he needed the Blackrose witch by his side. And now his stupid warriors had failed in succeeding to bring her.

Nikola needed Adriana. From the second he discovered Adriana was still alive, he knew she was exactly what he wanted. She was the perfect woman to bear his son. An heir, partly wolf, partly vampire with the Blackrose blood in his veins, was what he wanted.

Nikola picked up the golden goblet from the table, sipping the red liquid from it, thinking. Regardless of his warrior's outcome, he needed to get Adriana away from Dimitri before the ritual on the Blood Moon night, which the wolves intended to use to break their curse.

Just then there was a knock on his office door, and Nikola already knew who it was. “You may enter,” He said, then sparing the vampire warrior before him a distasteful glance before saying. “Leave now,”

The door opened and his very own witch, Sabrina Brooke, stepped in. The witch stopped at the door and waited until the vampire warrior left the room as she stepped closer to where Nikola was seated.

He stood up from his chair, going round his table to where she stood. His eyes inspected every inch of her wounds. He had also heard the news of Sabrina's almost-death experience at the hands of her former lover, the Alpha King. The witch before him would have been dead if his vampires and dark witches hadn't arrived just in time and found her almost lifeless body bleeding out on a tree after she'd been tossed over a cliff.

“How do you feel now?” He asked her, even though he could feel the anger pouring off her. Sabrina had barely even changed her clothes, she was still covered in her own blood and although the witches had healed the wounds on her body, the one on her neck where the Alpha King had slit her open was definitely going to leave a scar.

“I've been better,” She muttered without any other trail of emotion in her voice other than anger.

“You did a good job all these months, but unfortunately, you didn't bring me what I wanted,” Nikola's fingers lightly brushed the scar on her neck and brought his now bloody fingers to his lips, licking her blood from them.

“I'm sorry I failed you, my king. I had no idea how they figured there was a traitor. And that bitch took me by surprise when she invaded my memories and then they attacked me. There was no way I could get the Phoenix sword from Dimitri or take the woman with me,” Sabrina said.

“Unfortunately, your excuses aren't of any use to me,” Nikola walked back to his table.

“I know, and that's why I am here. I may know a way we could get Adriena here, without any drama, and she could bring the Phoenix sword here herself,” Sabrina's words made Nikola stop instantly.

He turned slightly, staring at the witch. “How?”

“I promise it'll work this time, I just have one request,” Sabrina stepped forward, eyes burning with anger. “I want to be the one to kill Adriana as soon as you're done with her,”

“I asked you how?” Nikola ignored her words, his focus still on her. He knew there was no way he'd agree to that. Adriana was too useful to end up dead anytime soon. And as soon as she gave him an heir who would be as special as she was and also as powerful as he was, he'd use that child to make her do whatever he wanted.

“Promise me first—” Sabrina started but as soon as she saw Nikola's eyes glow in anger, she went silent. “She has a weakness. That was why she agreed to marry Dimitri in the first place. A sister,” Sabrina met Nikola's red eyes. “And Adriana would do anything for her,”

A small sinister smile found Nikola's lips. “Perfect,”
