Chapter 935 Chapter 935

Chapter 935 Chapter 935
Marie didn’t need to ask which way was East. As soon as Gia said it, Tripp and Amari moved to the other side of the building and used their rifle scopes to search the area.

Kiloh was headed this way, and Cassius was following him.  That was bad enough, but hearing Webb over the walkie confirmed he was going to confront Kiloh. Her stomach was in knots.

She went over and stood near Amari. She lifted the binoculars and looked through them. “How long will it take Blair and Noah to reach them?”

“That depends if they’re on two feet or four paws.” She glanced at her. “They’re tigers, and can move pretty fast.” She lifted the rifle again and began scanning the trees.

“Cahir won’t be much help to Cassius if he catches up to Kiloh before they’re there.”

“I wouldn't mess with any kind of falcon,” Tripp said quietly. “Besides, Webb is on the way. A cougar, bear, and falcon beat one jag.”

Rhogue looked out into the trees and then beyond them. She couldn’t see anything. Cassius and Webb could get hurt. She had to force air into her body at the thought of that. “I need to stop this.” She turned and started walking to the ladder.

“Hey – whoa.” Amari stepped in front of her. “You need to stay here and be safe. They’ll get this Kiloh jackoff.”

Tripp moved over and stood beside her.

Rhogue shook her head. “You don’t understand, it’s my fault they are in this area.” She yanked the collar of her jacket down and lifted her chin. “Kiloh is after me. He tried to mark me, I hit him and got away.”

Amari looked at her neck, and then her brows dropped. “He did that without consent?”

Marie nodded.

“He’s not your mate?” Tripp asked.

“No.” Marie made a face. “No.” She looked at Amari. “I think Webb is.”

Amari’s eyes rounded. She turned to her mate. “His mood makes sense now.” Her head snapped back so she could look at Marie. “Does he know what Kiloh did?”

Mari nodded.

“Oh crap.” Amari looked at Tripp. “Shit. We have to go before Care Bear does something bad.”

Tripp looked at her, confusion on his face. He held the walkie out to Marie and got out his phone. “I'm just going to give Blair a heads-up so he doesn't tranq one of us.” He glanced at Amari. “How bad are we talking here?”

“What would you do if another man bit me?”

Tripp paused and looked at her. “He would cease breathing.” He shrugged one shoulder. “He’d probably be in a few pieces too.”

Amari nodded.

Tripp sighed. “Shit.”

“Can you shoot?”

Marie looked at Amari. “I’ve never even held a gun.”

Amari hissed out a breath and reached down to her foot. Lifting the cuff of her jeans, she pulled a small knife and case from under it. “Anyone you don’t know or don’t want to know, gets close, you stick this into them until your hand is sticky with their blood.”

Marie gave her a wary look but took the knife. She doubted she would be sticking it in anyone, but she wasn’t going to be unarmed this time with Kiloh. A knife made more sense than stealing one of Holly’s skillets from the kitchen and racing through the bush with it.

“Safety on,” Tripp said as he tucked his phone in his pocket.

Amari nodded and put the strap over her shoulder for the rifle. “Shouldn’t we tell Webb we are on the way?”

Marie watched Tripp go over to the ladder. He stopped. “Telling him Rhogue is on the way will be a distraction.”

Amari shrugged. “Okay.” She smiled at Marie. “Ready for a jog?”

Marie nodded. “I love running.”

Tripp snorted and went down the ladder.
