Jesse didn’t look surprised when Foster walked over and stood beside her. He glanced at the box in his hand with a questioning look. “She gave the other one back to Andi, and she needs her own.”
Jesse smiled. “Yes, she does.”
She had an intense expression on her as she listened to the person on the phone. “Who’s she talking to?”
“Rayne.”
Foster jerked his chin and looked at him again.
“She had some specific questions.”
“No doubt.”
“She wanted to know if an alpha could work with the alliance teams and still be alpha.”
Foster knew his jaw dropped, but it was the last thing he would have thought she’d ask about. “She wants to join a team?”
“I’m not sure, but I thought the best one to speak to would be Rayne.”
Foster nodded. The calm chill that Rayne emitted wouldn’t hurt. “There’s a few alphas on the teams, right?”
Jesse nodded. “Deacon, although I think he’s still running from it.” He grinned. “Blair. Noah, who is basically an alpha, he just doesn’t know it.”
Foster thought of how active they both were with ops and he knew the tiger population had exploded in the last year. “They seem to juggle it well.”
Jesse chuckled. “I don’t think Blair has a choice.”
“How are they able to be away so much?”
“A good second and support system. Ed is close, and Robbie looks after Blair’s very populated property.” He paused. “I can’t remember who helps over at Noah’s, but Cooper does what he can.”
Foster studied the expression on En’s face. “So, it’s possible for her to do both?”
“It is. She said Orson will second for her.”
Foster felt a bit of relief knowing that. Orson would have her back no matter what. “What team do you think she’d be a part of?”
Jesse scoffed. “We’re all one big team right now and will be until all the branches of the Tomas organization are shut down.”
“That’s true.” Maybe he could get Deva and Calla to talk to her. Or Gia. She came from an alpha family and was not mated to one. He looked at the ground. Maybe he should talk to Gia and ask what a mate to an alpha did. He had no idea at all, and apparently, he was a mate to an alpha. “There is a lot of change.” He hadn’t meant to say it out loud, but it also fit the entire situation.
“It is. I think she’s strong enough to pull it off.”
Foster looked at her. He was smiling. There was something about seeing her smile that calmed the stress inside him. His animal even relaxed for three seconds. He’d help her do what she needed. Even if she was resistant to having help, which his gut told him was likely going to be the way it went down.
