Chapter 871 Chapter 871
Zain had called Foster right before dawn with the address of Waylon Kamble’s farm. So, they had gone to check it out. Foster had driven by it half a dozen times since he’d come here. It was far off the road with no trees or coverage. There was going to be no sneaking in to take a look. There were more buildings to cover than any of the ops Foster had witnessed.
“Is good place to collect team.”
He looked to where Kevan was pointing. It was a small squared-off section of trees. They could go through it to get a closer look without being seen. “There’s nothing on the other side that’s remotely close.”
“Is going to be a challenge, no?”
Foster blew out a breath. “Yeah.” Grabbing his phone, he dialed Zain’s number.
“Did you find it?” He wasted no time during the night calls, Foster noticed.
He looked out the window. “Yeah, it’s hard to miss. It’s also going to be hard to get in without them using that button to warn the other place.”
“Illias is reaching out to Raymond. Tell me what you see.”
Had they been sitting there waiting for him to call? Foster glanced at Kevan to see he was staring at the place, his mouth was moving. Was he visualizing the steps between buildings? “Uh, main house at the end of a long laneway. No place to duck and cover. There are two smaller buildings, no idea what they are, and a big barn.”
“A big team will be needed, and with everyone scattered, that will be hard to do.”
“Yeah.”
“You stop the power. No lights. No warning signal.” Kevan said.
“What’s that?”
Foster looked at the power lines. “Kevan says if we kill the power to the farm, then the alarm button will be disabled.”
“Even if they have a generator, it would take a couple of minutes to get it up and running. I need to check the weather. We could plan it during a storm.” Zain made a strange noise. “This is so out of my skill set.” He mumbled something. “I’ll let them know. Hang on, Illias is adding Raymond to the call.”
Foster had no idea how the tech guys, and gals could just cut in on a call and add people without anyone hanging up and starting again.
“Zain.” Raymond’s voice was loud.
“Raymond, Foster, and Kevan are on the call. They’re looking at Waylon Kamble’s place and it’s going to be complicated to go in.”
“For every problem, there is a solution.”
Kevan nodded.
“Tell me.”
When Raymond requested things, it was always an order. Foster looked at the buildings again. It was going to be daylight soon, so they weren’t going to be able to sit here much longer.
“Long laneway, no cover. The main house, two smaller buildings, and a barn.” Zain must have made a list of what Foster said.
“What surrounds it?”
“Nothing on one side. It’s all open. Some trees on the other side, and I don’t know about behind it.”
Kevan leaned closer to the phone. “Kill power. Go in dark.”
“Mmm, that might be the only option.”
“We’re going to need a bigger team than we have available.”
Foster nodded to what Zain said.
“Yes. Hold on.” The sound of boots echoed in the hallway. There was a beeping sound like he’d just gone into a restricted area. “Kash. You’re going to Minnesota. Go pack your gear.”
Foster gave the phone a shocked look. The Alliance Security team didn’t usually go on the ops.
“Barack, bring up the team locations.” He couldn’t hear if anyone spoke. “Foster, Leyton, and Luka from SO will be heading that way shortly. Do we have a safe house there?”
“Not nearby, but I’ll find something,” Zain said quickly.
“All right. Deacon is available right now and his mate, Gia. I will reach out to team leaders and round up more. We’ll get some fliers in the air too. Has Cy Evans contacted you yet, Foster?”
“No, sir.”
“I’ll see how close he is. I have the report from the call earlier. The original contact, Orson, is missing?”
“That’s what the woman said,” Zain confirmed.
Foster interrupted. “Kevan picked up other shifters scents when he went out earlier.”
“Kevan, can you look around and see if you can locate any?”
Kevan nodded. “Yes. I start at shops and see if any are been there.”
“Keep me informed. Foster, Zain will have a house by noon, you’ll need to contact the team members that are coming and give them the location.”
“All right.” He nodded. “Do I go back to the diner? Is there a chance the woman will come in Orson’s place?”
“That’s doubtful. She got the address to us, I don’t see her taking a chance and mixing in with one-form spaces.”
Foster nodded. “All right.” He was going to miss seeing Ena, but now that things were happening, he wouldn’t have time for any flirting with human women.
“I’ll let you go, so I can build you a team, Zain. I’ll be in touch later.”
“I’ll be here.” Zain sounded happy when he said it. Of course, after his adventure before Christmas, Foster imagined he would be happy staying in his large, fancy building for a long while.
“Take me back. I start to look now.”
Foster nodded and started the van. He didn’t want to be sitting here when the lights came on in all those buildings.
“I’ll get back to you soon, Foster. I have to find a house.”
Foster grinned. “If anyone can, it’s you.”
Zain snorted. “My Zain magic reach isn’t as good on this side of the border.”
“Give it time. You’ll own every state.”
Zain chuckled. “Of course I will. Bye.”
“Is good men he send? I no work with many as I was in other country.”
Foster turned down the first side road. “Kash, I don’t know him, but if he’s Alliance Security, then, yeah, he’ll be good. Luka and Leyton are from Special Operations, so they’ll be stealthy and scary. Deacon, he’s very efficient at what he does.”
Kevan nodded. “Is good. We break down this ring soon.”
Foster nodded. “That’s the plan.”
“Is no plan. Just do.”
He wouldn’t argue with him; he knew the international guys were big on action. He wasn’t wrong either; lately, the plans were adjusted at the last minute. He imagined those like Zain who needed everything organized would be very uncomfortable with ‘just do.’
