Chapter 800 Chapter 800

Chapter 800 Chapter 800
Calla leaned against the chair. She’d insisted she didn’t need to sit all the time. It hurt, but she was able to walk. Bending still gave her spasms in other areas, but she was blaming the stiffness on laying down so much.

She also stopped here because she didn’t want to go into the kitchen. Edda and Griffin were there making food for everyone. They weren’t talking, but they stood side by side, and every few seconds, one of them would look at the other and smile. The last time they’d been together was when Griffin was born, and yet there was a familial bond and love there. Definitely heavy on the love part.

“It’s something, huh?” Blaise said quietly from behind her.

Calla turned, careful not to twist too fast. She nodded. “It’s wonderful.”

“She’s one hell of a strong woman.”

Calla smiled. “I thought the same when I realized who she was.”

“You’ve got balls of steel, Calla.” Blaise grinned. “My kind of people.”

Calla shrugged. “I just didn’t want to take the chance that Leon would get away.”

Blaise nodded and came over and sat in the chair beside the one she stood behind. “The information we have because of you—” She blew out an exaggerated breath. “We’re going to end this.”

Calla pulled the chair out and sat down carefully. The muscles really complained when she did that. “As long as kids can have freedom again and clan gatherings can happen—” she turned and looked at the pain in the kitchen. “That’s what matters.”

“Add in some serious justice, and I’m aces.” Blaise chuckled.

Giffin turned and looked out, and then his gaze settled on Blaise. Calla could see him questioning if everything was good. Blaise must have made some indication it was because he smiled at her and Calla felt teary eyes when she saw the love in his eyes.

Looking down at the cast, she glanced at Blaise. “Is Fionna out for a run?”

“Yeah. Bear is taking watch for a bit so I can eat and make some calls.”

“Is everything okay at the factory?”

Balise’s eyes widened for a second. “It’s great, a very busy place right now. Raymond doesn’t want to send teams out from HQ because there are too many important captures there, and he doesn’t want…”

“A lot of traffic through there?”

“Yeah. So, shipments are coming into the factory. One of Gage’s guys, they swap out once a week, they’re giving all of our vehicles a good once over.” She blew out a breath. “They’re working on installing cameras—” She lifted a hand and let it drop. “—everywhere from ten miles out around the property. Cassius’ people will have access to them.”

Calla straightened. “Have you talked to Edda about her daughter? When she was injured—” She looked into the kitchen at her. She wasn’t limping as bad now since she’d shifted. “—uh, a rogue group took her daughter.” She looked back at Blaise.

“Griffin asked her a bit about it. We don’t have a registered list of them yet.” She paused for a second. “I’ll probably ask Webb to work on that when he gets back. He stayed at the factory all through the holidays and January, so he just went home for a few weeks.”

“Amari said teams are already getting ready to go out.”

Blaise nodded. “Mostly to get intel on locations. All of Uri’s team is already gone.”

Calla lifted her casted arm. “As soon as I’m functional again, Bear and I were thinking we’d go down to the US HQ and help there.”

Blaise nodded. “Asher and Journee are already down there, checking the last locations of clans from old Alliance records. Foster, Jesse, and Leah are going down to help with that.”

“Did they confirm Zuri is from Leah’s clan?”

Blaise nodded. “Eventually, he’ll be transported to Deshon’s clan, but he needs at least a month of treatment first.” Blaise shook her head. “He barely remembers what life was like as a kid in a clan.”

Calla was often annoyed with her family and clan life, but she couldn’t imagine not having them.

Griffin came out of the kitchen with two plates. “I’ll go get Bear so he can eat and take watch for a few.” He set the plate down and put his hand on Blaise’s shoulder.

No words were exchanged, but Blaise nodded and smiled up at him.

After he went out, Calla picked up her fork. “As soon as Fionna says I can, I’m shifting.”

Blaise paused after she stabbed a piece of fried potato. “I’ll keep watch, but take Bear with you.” She rolled her eyes. “The guy paces and is anxious if you’re out of his sight, and it interferes with my vibe.”

Calla nodded. “I was going to anyway. Just in case I have issues.”

Blaise pointed the fork at her and nodded once.

Calla took a small bite and checked on her animal. She was concerned, too. Neither of them would come of this sane if they couldn’t shift again.
