Chapter 793 Chapter 793

Chapter 793 Chapter 793

“Bear, we have your location. The closest to you is Mae’s clan.”

Bear heaved a sigh of relief. Mae’s clan meant Amari and, of course, Tripp. They usually scared the hell out of him, but in this situation, there was no one else he’d want.

“Calum’s contacting them now. I need you to assess Calla. Can she be moved?”

He dropped the empty blanket pouch and squatted down beside the mangled metal. “I don’t see any blood near her legs.”

“That doesn’t mean it isn’t bleeding internally.”

“I know.” His animal panicked. Bear ignored him; he didn’t have time for distractions like that right now.

“Okay, Bear. I’m going to hang up, and then I’ll call you again with Shaelan patched in.”

Bear closed his eyes. “Yes.” When the line went quiet, he leaned over Calla. “Hey.”

She smiled with her eyes closed. “You smell good.”

He would have smiled, but her coloring was worse. “I need you to focus for me and tell me how you feel. Your arms, legs, back—” He touched her face. His phone buzzing in his pocket had him jerk his hand away so he could touch the earbud and connect the call. “Yeah?”

“Bear, it’s Shaelan.”

He closed his eyes for a second. “I don’t know what I’m doing.”

“That’s okay. I’ll help.”

He opened his eyes and looked down to see Calla looking up at him. “Her seat was twisted sideways, and her legs are pinned under what’s left of the dash.”

“Can you put me on speaker so I can talk to her?”

Bear nodded. “Yeah.” He leaned away and got the phone out of his pocket. Tapping the speaker symbol, he increased the volume and set it on his seat. “Okay. You’re on speaker.”

“Calla? It’s Shaelan. How are you doing?”

Calla closed her eyes. “I think I’ve been better.”

“I know. I need you to concentrate for me and tell me if anything hurts or if you can’t feel a part of your body.”

“Kay.” She kept her eyes closed and just lay there breathing slowly. “My left arm hurts. I can’t move it.”

Bear stepped up beside the seat and leaned over her. It was pinned between the console and the part of her seat that had shifted in the collision.

“Can you wiggle any fingers?”

“Ah—” Calla’s face scrunched up. “Yes. I feel my hand. IT really hurts when I move my fingers.”

“Okay. Movement is good. Bear, what do you see?”

“Her arm is pinned between the console and her seat. It’s not straight.”

Calla’s eyes flew open, and she looked at him.

“Okay. We’re probably looking at a fracture or break. Those heal well enough. We’ll stabilize that after you get her out.”

“Okay.” He nodded and looked to see her still watching him. He tried to give her a smile but failed.

“What about your chest and abdomen, Calla? Any pain or complete absence of feeling?”

Calla closed her eyes again. “It hurts. The seatbelt was squishing me. I’m going to have some good bruises later.”

Shaelan chuckled softly. “Bruises are the best outcome right now.”

“Bear, how do her eyes look? Her pupils. Did she lose consciousness?”

“She didn’t. She has a few cuts on the side of her head from glass.” He leaned closer. “Her eyes look okay.”

“Is she sleepy?”

“She’s a little out of it.”

“That’s shock. Okay, Calla, I need you to stay awake. Bear is going to get you out of there and I need you to tell him if anything changes and any feelings happen. Pains, numbness, okay?”

“Kay.”

“Bear, can you see both of her legs?”

He got back out and leaned down so he could look. Glancing, he saw his gun was still resting beside her and picked it up. Setting it by the med kit, he turned back to look.

Edda came up beside him. “Everything is out.” She’d tied the blanket around her neck and chest. Any other time, it would have been funny with her wrapped up with a big silver bow.

“Is that Edda? I’m Shaelan.”

Edda looked in at the phone. “Hello.”

“Edda, while Bear works on getting Calla out, can you see if there’s anything nearby we can use as splints? Her legs need to be immobilized.”

Edda nodded. “Yes.” She touched Calla’s shoulder and then turned around.

“Edda.” Bear picked up the gun. She gave him a wide-eyed look. He turned it sideways and pointed. “This is the safety. It’s on right now.” He held it out to her.

She took it with a shaking hand.

“I need you to let me know if any cars are coming.”

She nodded and walked away, holding the gun out from her body.
