Chapter 789 Chapter 789

Chapter 789 Chapter 789
Calla looked into the sitting room to see that Leon sat there, his head held high. Like he was the royalty, he thought he was. His gaze moved slowly to her, and she could see the loathsomeness in his eyes. She held his look, not even the slightest bit afraid of him. Moving just his eyes, he looked over her head.

Calla turned to see what was behind her. The only thing there was the marked light switch. She smiled and looked back at him. “Disconnected.”

His brows flinched briefly, and then he looked away from her.

“Kelii, take Bianca and Edda over with Gia and Deacon.”

Edda stood slowly. She looked in the kitchen and then at Quinn. “We need to take the ingredients with us. I’ll make stew and biscuits for dinner.”

Quinn smiled. “I could eat that.” She shrugged and glanced at Eaton.

Eaton nodded.

“I will help.” Bianca stood up.

When she went to move by Eaton, she put her hand out to stop her. She touched her wrist. “Did you get those here?”

Bianca lifted her arm and looked at it. “No. It happened in Panama.”

Eaton nodded slowly. “Shifting didn’t heal them?”

Bianca raised both arms and looked at them. “I never have. I don’t know how to fly.”

Calla watched Kelii stop and turn around. She looked from Eaton to Bianca. “After medical has cleared you, we can teach you.” She glanced at Gideon, who nodded.

“Nothin in the world like it.” He smiled.

Eaton stepped aside and let Bianca go into the kitchen. “They’ve got fliers.” She said in a hushed voice. Taking a deep breath, she exhaled slowly and then touched her ear. “Rosh, make another sweep and then go into number two. You can watch the entrances from there.” She nodded. “We’re going to need two to go back and get our vehicles and bring them here.”

Beck nodded. “I’ll go.”

Calla watched Bear. He turned and looked at her and then nodded. “I’ll go too.”

“All right. Make sure these seven are comfortable.” She looked at the chairs at the table. “Tie some to the chair. Luka, you and Quinn will take the first watch with them.” She turned and looked at the basement door. “I’m going to see how Dane is doing, and then I’ll call Raymond. We moved earlier than planned, and they were still on the move.” She paused and then turned and looked at Leon. “Your cousin is looking forward to seeing you later.” She smiled.

“Devin is coming here?” It was the first time Calla had heard anything close to worry in his voice.

“Yes, he is. To escort you back to our king.”

Leon scoffed. “Aiden has Shepard.”

Eaton laughed. “Wrong. We have Aiden and the king.” She watched him while her words registered and then turned around and went down into the basement.

Calla got up when she saw Luka and Gideon get Kumar to his feet. She pulled out the chair and then went into the kitchen. Bear was going out the door. She sighed. He was her mate, and this time, she didn’t have any doubts. She was going to have to talk to him, but now was definitely not the time for that.

Bianca and Edda were packing everything back into the basket.

Edda stopped what she was doing and came over and took Calla’s hands. She squeezed them. “Thank you.”

Calla smiled. “I didn’t do anything. I just ignored orders and pretended to want to be one of Leon’s followers.”

“You were pretty convincing,” Bianca said. “But you were too clean and unscared to really be one of his.”

Edda released Calla’s hands and turned back to the containers.

Calla looked at Bianca’s wrists. “Maybe shifting will lessen the scars.”

Bianca looked at her wrist. “If I get to fly. I don’t care if I have to wear scar bracelets.”

Kelii picked up the basket and turned to the door. “You should consider switching to the surveillance team, Calla.”

Gideon laughed. “She got lucky.”

Calla grinned. “Pure dumb luck.”

He shrugged and then helped to get B.G. to his feet.

Calla went downstairs and stood at the bottom. She watched Eaton come out of the room Kumar had locked her in. She didn’t hide the disgust on her face. “I’m tempted to burn this one to the ground.” She said in a low voice. “How are you doing, Dane?”

Dane looked up from the keyboard. “Ellery has passwords for emails and a private chat room.” He smiled at Eaton. “He knows the exact location of the B.C. house. He has a good idea of location for the Yellowknife one and has it narrowed down for Minnesota.”

Eaton turned to look at Calla. “This is a jackpot.”

Calla nodded. “Now that the adrenaline has slowed down, I’m going to go over with Edda.”

Eaton smiled. “I’m not sure how long we’ll be here. The storm is going to make traveling complicated.”

Ellery straightened away from the screen Dane was on. “Leon is supposed to speak with Kenric tomorrow. If he doesn’t call—” He looked at the screen.

“I’ll let Raymond know this.” Eaton went over and opened a drawer on Leon’s desk. “How long have you been with Leon?”

Ellery made a face. “Six very long years. It took me two before that to find a way to locate him.”

Eaton closed the drawer and looked at him. “Why?” She shrugged. “Did you do it?”

Ellery pulled out a chair and sat beside Dane. “My sister was taken. It destroyed my mother, so I promised to find those responsible.” He glanced at Calla. “I heard what you said upstairs. Do you really have Aiden Tomas in custody?

Eaton smiled. “Yes. Many others, including Leon’s father.”

He nodded slowly. “Good.” He stood up. “There’s an island…”

“Already shut that down.” Calla said. She still remembered feeling amazed that they had rescued to many there.

“You did? That’s great.” Ellery blew out a breath. “I have an encrypted online journal with details from a lot of Leon’s conversations—” He rushed over and grabbed the laptop. “I’ll write the password down for you.”

Eaton went over and looked at what Dane was doing. “Give Dane your clan and sister’s name. We’ve rescued a lot and have lists of those that were sold to some other countries.”

Ellery’s face blanched. “You have lists?”

She nodded.

“Okay. Yes. I will write it down.”

Calla looked at the room she’d been locked in. Her animal tensed. “I’m going over with Edda now.”

Eaton nodded. “I’ll be updating everyone after I talk to Raymond.” She patted Dane on the shoulder. “Do you have a new earpiece for Calla?”

Dane paused what he was doing. “It’s in my bag. I’ll grab it when they get back with the vans.”

Eaton looked back at Calla. “Go relax, you’ve earned it.”

Calla didn’t have to be told twice. As far as being a spy, she was almost certain that was going to be her one and only time.
