Chapter 781 Chapter 781
“Someone write down these names.” The growl in Devin’s voice was very audible.
“I am keeping track.” Raymond Hardy said.
“I’d like to remind everyone that over thirty people are listening in on this call, so we’re going to have to stick to the facts,” Shepard said in a firm but gentle way.
Bear wasn’t sure who all the people were, but Dane had the team here except Beck, listening through one phone to simplify connecting. He wondered how many others were sharing phones.
“We have a few clan alphas with us today because of what Calla has found out, and it involves their clan’s areas.” That was Rayne.
“Who is Calla, and where has she gotten the information? Oh, sorry, this is Liz from the Crown Eagle clan in B.C.”
“We’ll explain all of that in a moment, Liz,” Rayne told her.
“We’re hanging back, Eaton, so it doesn’t look like a gathering, but we are here now.”
“Okay, Kaid. We’re going to come up with a plan while we’re on this call.” Eaton said as she leaned closer to the phone Dane held out.
“Why don’t you briefly explain what is happening, Eaton,” Shepard suggested.
“Yes, sir.” She cleared her throat. “We tracked Leon from the king’s clan—some of you already know we took his father into custody for treason. His location was obtained from the building the Tomas family has used as their headquarters in Chicago for several decades…”
“I just want to say quickly that I’m so happy you finally got that man.” A woman said.
“We all are, Lois.” Rayne’s voice was soft and understanding, which shocked Bear because he knew what that family had put her through. They all did.
Eaton nodded. “Calla had the opportunity to get inside information if she pretended to join Leon’s group, so she went with them.”
“This Leon has been helping the Tomas family?” A man asked.
“Yes, Benny,” Devin growled.
Bear didn’t know the alpha of Calla’s clan, but he had heard good things about him.
“We’re at that location in Manitoba right now,” Eaton said.
“Close to my clan?” Lois asked.
“It’s closer to Margie’s, Lois,” Raymond told her.
“Do you need help? A woman asked.
“I think we’re okay, Margie, but make sure your clan is careful. We aren’t sure if there are more out there currently.” Jesse told her.
“They’re trying to recruit others,” Eaton told them.
Bear was happy to hear Jesse was on the call.
“They have a way of warning other locations with a flick of a switch. Literally.” Eaton glanced around at the others sitting there. Bear was glad she was doing the talking, because the others kept interrupting. He would have lost his cool.
“Do we know the other locations?” There was no mistaking Wynter’s voice.
“We know the area’s they’re in, but no exact coordinates yet.” Eaton shifted in her seat and grabbed a notebook. “There’s one in B.C. being run by a man named Kenric.”
“We believe we know Kenric from many years ago,” Shepard said.
“Do you know which part of B.C?” Liz asked.
“We don’t, but we wanted some of yours to help with something else.” Shepard sounded tired, making Bear wonder if he had fully recovered from being held captive. “While this Kenric was on a video call with Leon, Calla saw that he had a water clan member in a tank.”
There were several gasps.
“Konner believes he knows the area they are from and has contacted the remaining clan members, but we also learned that they were going out looking for more. If some of yours could fly around and see if any vessels look suspicious…”
“That’s a lot of water to cover, sir, but we can do that.”
“I will send you my information, Liz,” Konner said. “I’m flying there shortly to meet up with Malik.”
“You let me know if we can do anything to help, Konner,” Benny said.
“I will. Thank you. Sir, if I’m not needed further, I would like to go.”
“Yes, Konner, you get on your way. Have a safe trip.” The king said.
“Yes, sir.”
There was a moment of silence.
“Where are the other locations, Eaton?”
Bear hadn’t realized that Kobie was on the call.
“In Minnesota, being run by a man named Waylon and Yellowknife, the man in charge there is Preston.”
“Do you think Leon’s people are responsible for what happened to my clan?” Kobie asked.
“We won’t know that until after we get their computer, Kobie,” Raymond informed her.
“Okay.”
“Let us know if you need up there, Devin.” Blair’s tone was completely serious.
“We’ll be sending teams to all areas mentioned, Blair.” Devin sounded a bit calmer.
“Yellowknife? We couldn’t locate any of the clans there.” Jesse said.
“We know. We’ll be searching more to double-check that. Many could be in hiding, and we missed them.”
Bear realized they were going to be sending teams in every direction all at once. He knew they’d talked about it, but now, knowing areas, it was going to be chaotic on the organizer’s end.
“What else do we know?” It was Calum.
“That they hide in Maine, even Aiden has in the past,” Eaton told everyone.
“Are we sending some of Uri’s team to look around there?”
“We are, Kenzo. I’m waiting on the location, and then I’ll coordinate with Raymond.”
“Let me know if you need extras, Uri.”
“Will do.”
“The two areas mentioned were Louisiana and Panama.” Eaton looked at the phone. “They were they discussed hiding if they felt things were too hot here.”
“Louisiana is a hard place to find anyone if they don’t want to be found.”
“I know, Kaid, but we’re going to have to see if we can find clans down there.”
“I might know a place or two where you all could look.”
Bear grinned, just hearing Oaklyn’s voice.
“That would be helpful, Oaklyn,” Rayne said. “Devin and I will be coming there to help coordinate the teams in the States in a few weeks.”
“I will roll out the red carpet for you any day, Miss Rayne.”
Bear was sure she was making her southern accent more pronounced to lighten the mood. He’d take it. There wasn’t a muscle in his body that wasn’t tense right now. They needed to get to the part where they came up with a plan.
“Taggart, are you there?”
“I am.”
“We were hoping you might have a starting point for us in Panama,” Raymond said.
“No points in Panama are for good ones. Is no a nice place for our kind to be.” Taggart said slowly. “I have one people I call there. They will help.”
“That’s what we were hoping for,” Shepard said. “Let me know if you need anything.”
“I can do this. I call and have them to start to look for rodents nest in Panama. We no send anyones unless they say to.”
“What he means is it’s very dangerous for shifters there. If Leon and the others hide there, they must have a way to get there safely.” There was no mistaking Deva’s voice.
“We will follow your lead on this, Taggart,” Raymond said.
“Yes, I lead to find the ambassador in Panama. Is very evil man.”
“Thank you, Taggart. We have a few other things to discuss with certain teams, so those not on the teams are free to go now.” Shepard said.
“Keep me informed, Shepard. I can send mine out to hunt if you need.” Benny said.
“Everyone near those locations will be informed.”
They listened to a few of the others saying goodbye. Taggart and Deva hung up, as well as Blair and Kobie.
“All right, everyone. We have a few things to discuss, and then we’ll set the plan for tonight,” Calum said.
