Chapter 281 Chapter 281

Chapter 281 Chapter 281
“In two hours when it’s dark, we’re going in. Illias has some items for each of you. Before you head out, pack up your stuff and take it with you.”

“Aren’t we coming back here?” Webb interrupted Calum.

Gia watched Devin and Calum exchange a look.

“That’s the plan but being prepared for any situation never hurts.”

She gnawed on her lower lip; did they expect something to happen that would mean they weren’t coming back here?

“Best case scenario, you’ll already be packed to move to the other safe house.”

“We’ll be staggering the times of everyone leaving throughout the night and early morning.” Devin looked around at everyone, “but we’ll cover that when you’re back.” He turned and looked at Illias.

Illias stood up, “everyone is getting a new untraceable phone. Do not use your personal phones if these are activated.”

“When will that be?” Kobie moved closer to Blair, who automatically put his arm around her shoulders.

“If anything happens or I think we’ve been compromised, I’ll put a call out over the radio. Five minutes from that time the radio frequency will be changed so you won’t be able to use it after that.”

Asher glanced over at Jesse, “will instructions be given at that point?”

Illias nodded after seeking Devin’s approval to continue. “Yes. Very brief ones.” He held up a phone, “these are for calls only, no texting, no group chats or online surfing, just calls. The fewer the better.”

Calum pushed away from the wall, “over the radio or with the new phones, you don’t mention where you’re going, where you are, nothing personal or identifying.” He motioned to the phone Illias held, “once you’ve been told to use the new phones, you take the chip out of your personal ones and power them off.” He paused to look around at everyone in the room, “and they don’t get turned back on until you’re told. Put the new phone in your run pack and leave it there.”

Rayne came in with a cup in her hand and sat beside Devin. “This is all a precaution.” She smiled at Devin, then Calum, “they forgot to mention that part.”

Devin shook his head, and smirked, but didn’t comment. He turned to Illias.

Illias nodded, “each driver is going to be given an envelope, in it is a location of a vehicle you will pick up. These are not traceable in any way.” He smirked, “Nola from my team has made sure of that. The only one that knows who is picking up which vehicle is me.” He pointed to the scar on his face, “and I don’t share information—ever.”

“While you hand out the phones and envelopes, we’ll go over the task at hand.” Calum looked to Jesse, then Devin, both men seemed okay with him continuing.

Gia watched Illias go over and pick up a small box sitting on the floor. Her heart was racing, not from fear, but from adrenalin. She was finally going to do something to contribute to the Alliance and her kind.

“While everyone is moving into position, Creed is going to do a quick flyover and check that things haven’t changed, in case Noah isn’t able to follow movement in the back of the location.”

Gia looked around; she hadn’t noticed that Noah was missing.

Shaelan grinned and held up a radio, “he’s listening, so he knows when we’re moving.”

“If Creed doesn’t land, drive away and wait for further instructions.” Calum turned to Webb, “Webb, you’re waiting here,” he pointed to a spot on the map, “you’ll drop off Blair, Kobie, Jesse, and Evanna. They’re coming in from the back.”

Webb nodded and took the radio, phone, and envelope that Illias handed him.

“Asher,” Calum paused while he was handed him his items, “Bear and Creed will ride with you. Let Creed out here and wait for his signal, then you’ll pick up Noah, he’s here,” he showed him on the map. “You’ll drop them off at this corner and then go wait at the location of your choosing.

Asher looked at the map for a moment, his expression tense. Nodding, he backed out of the way again.

“Gia,” she stood up and went closer to the map, “you’re going to have Shaelan with you,” he glanced at his mate, “we’ll load up any supplies in your van after this.” He turned and looked around, “Shae has an additional bag for you to keep in the vehicles as well,” when Asher and Webb nodded, he turned back to her, “you’ll drop Deacon off,” she watched where he pointed “then I want you to stay the closest in case we need Shaelan.”

Illias came over and handed her a radio, a small black phone, and an envelope. She took them and then looked at Calum again. “Got it.” She answered, keeping words few so the shakiness she was feeling wouldn’t be evident. Moving out of the way, she watched as he moved through the room and handed the others their items.

“Bear, once Asher drops you off, can you disable the vehicles sitting in the driveway?” Calum smirked, “but make sure they can be loaded or towed after.”

Bear grinned, “I can do that.”

Calum looked around at everyone. “We have extra darts and ammo for everyone. Let’s try not to fire any guns and alert the entire neighborhood to what’s happening.” He turned and looked at Devin.

Devin stood up again, “I’ll be taking Illias to the house five minutes before the rest of you so he can check for and disable any security systems.”

Illias paused in handing Deacon his items, “I also have a neat toy that will turn off the automatic garage door.” He grinned, then continued with what he’d been doing.

“I’ll be at the location with Devin and Illias and waiting on your arrival. Keep the chatter down on the radios, only necessary information.” Calum nodded slowly as he looked at each person present.

Jesse moved from Evanna’s side and put his hands on his hips, “the security team’s location is only known to Devin, Calum, and I, so once we’ve dealt with Lindon, any others will be taken to them to be moved.”

York took his new phone and radio, then looked over to Deacon, “are we expecting them to come willingly?”

Jesse shrugged, “if not, tranq them for transport. The Alliance security are better equipped to deal with them.”

York nodded and moved to the other end of the room, to the table with the clips and darts on it. He picked up one of each and tucked them into the pockets of his cargo pants.

“Any questions?”  Calum looked around at everyone.  When no one spoke, he motioned to the table of ammo. “Get your gear packed up and put in the vehicle you’ll be riding in.”
