Chapter 275 Chapter 275

Chapter 275 Chapter 275
Calum grinned wide and looked at the floor.

Devin gave him a blank look. “Cal, why don’t you introduce everyone—because I think every shifter on the planet knows you.”

The smirk left Calum’s face as he gave the prince a hard look that promised retribution.

Why didn’t it surprise him, that Calum was in with the prince of the shifter world, Deacon wondered?

“Love to.” Calum finally said, a totally fake smile on his face. “Your highness.” He bowed slightly to him. “First and most important is my mate,” Calum motioned to the lady with the long black hair sitting in the chair in the corner, “Shaelan. She’s our medic, so be nice to her.” He looked around the room. “The rest of the retrieval team are,” he looked at the tall silent man, “Noah, he has firsthand knowledge of how Tomas works.”

Deacon inclined his head as Noah glanced around. He hadn’t recognized him at first, but Deacon had been there when they’d gotten him out. He’d put on some weight and looked healthy now. The darkness behind his eyes made sense now. He was a survivor and probably the most important one on this op, he figured, he knew how these sick people operated.

“Blair and his mate, Kobie.”

Deacon looked at the couple with almost matching platinum blond hair. Blair didn’t smile or acknowledge anyone. His mate leaned into him and rubbed her hand across his chest. Tense didn’t even begin to explain the vibes coming from the couple.

“Most of us know Jesse and this is his mate,” Calum looked at her and then around at everyone else, “Evanna.” He motioned to the two men sitting on the large sectional in the corner. “Bear and Creed.”

Deacon noted which was which and then looked back to Calum.

“From Jesse’s team we have Webb,” the man waved. He pointed to the man beside Deacon, “Asher.” Then he looked at Giana, “And Gia, who I’m told out-witted Jesse and Webb today.”

Webb shrugged, a big grin on his face.

Jesse rolled his eyes. “Looking in the ground never crossed my mind,” Jesse said quickly.

Giana wasn’t blushing or smiling at any of this. She pulled her hat down further and made no comment. Deacon glanced down at Nox, he looked less than impressed that his sister was mentioned in a positive light.

“That leaves the members of our Incursion team that are here to make sure we all get out in one piece.” Calum pointed to the couch, “Nox and York,” he motioned to him, “and Deacon.”

“I guess the only one left is me, Illias.” He waved his hand in the air. “Illias Roman, I’m your tech genius for the foreseeable future.”

The room was silent as Calum looked at his phone. “There won’t be a second house, so we’re going to have to sort out staying here for the next week.”

“I’m prepared for that,” Rayne slid forward on the sofa. “I did a quick run-through when we got here, just in case.”

Calum held his hand toward her to say, ‘it’s all yours’.

“Okay, we have five bedrooms, a one-bedroom above the garage, and the cute little guest house.”

“I’ll crash where I’m setting up the equipment.” Illias pointed to the door at the top of the stairs he sat on, “I think it’s supposed to be a den, but now it’s the command center.” He grinned.

“Perfect.” Rayne smiled at Jesse, “why don’t you and Evanna take the guest house.”

Jesse looked relieved and nodded.

“Bear, Creed, and Noah, you could use the apartment above the garage.”

Devin turned to her; his brows knitted.

She smirked, “I know, but chances of Calum letting you stay where he can’t stand guard was slim.”

“She’s right.” Calum gave the prince a quick review.

Rayne gave her mate an ‘I told you so’ look. “Okay, Webb, Nox, and York, you could take the larger room upstairs. We have sleeping bags on route with the supplies.”

Webb nodded, as well as York. Nox didn’t look impressed but shrugged anyway.

“Cal and Shae, Blair and Kobie, and Devin and I will take a room.” She looked at Gia, “you could use the smaller one at the back of the kitchen.”

Gia nodded.

“So that leaves…”

“I’m going to crash in the van,” Asher said. “One of us should stay outside.”

Deacon didn’t relish the idea of being in this building at all. “I’ll take the back shed. As Asher,” he glanced at him, “said, we should have some outside keeping an eye on things.”

“Okay.” Devin nodded, “get your gear to your room, while we get some coffee going and Illias gets set up. Then we hammer out some plans.” He looked at Blair, “Lindon’s is first.”

Blair nodded his head slowly and Deacon didn’t know who Lindon was, but he wasn’t surviving this if Blair’s expression was any clue.
