Chapter 160 Chapter 160

Chapter 160 Chapter 160
They walked into the small building. Jesse was standing in front of the screens, checking the cameras.

Devin motioned to his phone, “Dad had to take another call, so we’re on hold.”

Calum perched on the edge of the table and gave Blair a look, “what else?”

Both Jesse and Devin turned to look at Blair.

Blowing out a breath, he rubbed a hand over his hair. “Jay saw an older man that looks like me when they were ambushed. He’s a white tiger when he shifts.”

“Your brother,” Calum said in a quiet tone.

Blair nodded, “I think so.”

“He was involved when their Alpha died?” Jesse swore softly.

Blair’s chest hurt when he heard it out loud. “Yeah.”

“Does anyone else know?”  Jesse inquired quietly.

Shaking his head, Blair blew out a breath again. “No. He said not to tell Kobie either.”

“That would be very bad,” Devin said, giving Calum a look.

“As mates go, yes.” Calum agreed.

“Your brother Lindon was involved in killing Damar?”

It startled all of the men when the voice came over the phone. Shepard Addison, the King of the Shifter Alliance had been listening.

Blair nodded, “Yes, sir, that’s what Jayden said.”

“Kobie is his twin, the Alpha’s daughter,” he paused for a second, “and your mate, Blair?”

Nodding again, Blair stared at the phone. “Yes.”

“That may simplify things.” Devin’s father stated, to which Devin gave the phone a wide-eyed look.

“How does that simplify anything?” Devin asked.

“I’ll get to that in a moment.” Shepard said, “first, I approve of the idea to use that other property near Ed for this broken clan.”

Blair glanced at Calum, who looked almost as relieved as he felt.

“What does Shaelan say about Jayden’s recovery?”

Everyone turned to look at Calum.

“It’s going to be a long one, there is still no guarantee he’ll be able to shift afterward,” Calum said with a somber expression.

“It’s a miracle he’s even alive.” The king said in a soft tone, “they intended him to be dead along with his father—leaving no male in the Alpha family alive is the pattern.”

Jesse turned from the screens, “Jayden says he knows for sure six of the men were taken and not killed. He’s not sure about the other seven.”

“What possessed them to take fifteen of their men and go after them on their own, I don’t know but we’re communicating with all clans with missing members to let them know to contact us before taking action. The team down there aren’t due to report in for another day, so I don’t have anything to add to the information on their men right now.” Shepard cleared his throat, “the recovery is going to be too long for Jayden to be an active Alpha, will his sister take the lead?”

All eyes turned to Blair, “I don’t know.” Other than that one time she mentioned it, he hadn’t given it a lot of thought. There had been too many other things occupying his mind.

“The only way to have them stay on the new land long term is if they have an Alpha or merge with another clan. Clans without ruling leaders are not given the Alliance’s protection. I haven’t spoken to Ed about this yet, but as you know, Blair, your clan already has its hands full with many females.”

Blair huffed out a breath, “yeah.”

“Once you and Kobie are mated, you could take the Alpha roll.”

Moving just his eyes, Blair looked at Calum and then to Devin, they were both smirking. “Uh…”

“She hasn’t decided yet,” Calum said with a grin.

“Decided?”

Calum leaned closer to the phone, “if she wants a mate.”

“Oh,” the sound he made sounded like a chuckled to Blair, “I see.” Shepard’s tone was softer. “Well, son, I suggest you get her deciding. We are expediting the sale of the land and I’m sending a renovation team to that property and we’re hoping to have transportation set up in two days.”

Blair’s eyes couldn’t have gotten any bigger as he stared at the phone. He jerked his head and looked at Calum.

Calum mouthed, ‘yes, thank you,’ and nodded his head.

“Yes,” Blair said too loud, “thank you—sir.” He broke out in a nervous sweat without warning.

Shepard chuckled openly for a moment. “Now, I need a few words with my son and Calum.”

Jesse nodded and looked at Blair, motioning to the door.

“Thank you,” Blair mumbled again and followed Jesse outside.

Once outside, he bent forward and leaned on his knees.

Jesse laughed, “that moved a little fast.”

Lifting his head, he looked up at him. “You think, huh?”

“So, what are you going to do?” Jesse was smirking.

Blair straightened up, “I, uh, shit,” he looked around the yard, “I guess I need to talk to the clan,” he swore softly, “and Kobie.”

“Can I listen in on that conversation?”

Blair glared at him.

“I mean, what are you going to say? So, the king says we have to mate and I’m taking over your clan?” He shrugged, “oh, and by the way, my brother works with Tomas’ organization.”

Blair opened his mouth and then closed it. “I don’t even know.”

Calum and Devin came out and looked at him.

“Figured you’d still be standing here,” Calum smirked.

Blair lifted his hands and then let them smack on his legs. He motioned to the house, “I don’t know what to do first.”

Calum looked at Devin then back to Blair, “our Prince knows too well what happens if you don’t tell your mate everything.”

Devin nodded, then shook his head, “it’s not good. Tell her everything—beforehand.”

Calum jerked his head toward the house as if to say, ‘off you go’.

Blair nodded, “everything, all right.” He started walking toward the house, with each step getting slower. How the fuck do I start? Tell her the worst first? Shit. He spun on his heel and pulled his phone out and started walking away from the house.

Calum, Devin, and Jesse stood there grinning at him.

He lifted his phone in the air and waved it around.

“Gage?” Calum called out.

“Coop,” Blair said, not caring if they could hear or not.
