Synopsis

George was introduced to Ellie by a friend. She was good-looking and had a stable job. Not only Ellie but also her parents were satisfied, so they got married after three months of acquaintance. But they spared less time living together because of his busy work. George often travelled on business, at least a month. Ellie didn't know what he was doing outside. She knew that his work needed confidentiality. But she didn’t want this kind of life any more, she even didn’t know whether her husband had another woman or not. In the evening, George, who came back from another two-month business trip, dragged his tired body to open the door, but did not see Ellie running out of the kitchen as usual. He wondered and shouted, but there was no answer. He went into the bedroom and saw that the normally empty dresser was full of skin care products, several lipsticks and two bottles of perfume. George frowned and sat down on the edge of the bed, took off his glasses and stared at a Latin Dance training Center membership card on the dresser.

Chapter 1: Bus ride: Resemblance and Reflections

After having dinner at her parents' place, Ellie Baker boarded the bus home around 8 o'clock.

At this time, there weren't many people on the bus, and most of the seats were empty. She walked over to the double seat near the rear door and sat down by the window.

During the summer, it stayed bright later into the evening, but the streetlights had already been lit, and the neon signs of the shops along the road glowed and flickered.

She looked out the window and her mind were filled with conversations with Mr. and Mrs. Baker today, as well as the fact that her cousin Fiona's son would be one month old the day after tomorrow.

Fiona had only been married for a year, and now they already had a one-month-old baby. As for her… she had been married for six years, but there was no sign of anything happening.

Although she had said countless times that she and George were fine, it was just that George was busy with work and constantly going on business trips, so they had decided to wait for another two years until his work stabilized before having children.

At first, their families understood and didn't say much, but over the years, she didn't know when it started, everyone became particularly "concerned" about her, making her gradually become anxious.

Ellie was lost in her thoughts when suddenly she felt someone sitting next to her. Instinctively, she turned her head and was stunned by what she saw.

It was a young man, in his early twenties, wearing a simple light blue short-sleeved shirt.

He possessed a strikingly handsome visage, adorned with delicate features that captured the admiration of those around him.

In the parlance of today’s youth, he could undoubtedly be described as “hot” or “attractive”.

But what stunned Ellie wasn't whether the man was handsome or not, but the fact that the side of his face bore a striking resemblance to her husband George Stone. Even the gentle and refined aura was similar.

Her mind involuntarily flashed back to the moment she first met George, when all the cells in her body seemed to have returned to that afternoon in the park six years ago, when the headmaster introduced George to her. It was a strange feeling...

The man seemed to have felt Ellie's gaze, he turned his head and smiled awkwardly yet politely at her.

"Um... Is anyone sitting here?"

The man's hearty voice carried a hint of laughter.

His question brought Ellie back to reality and she regained her composure and couldn't help but feel her face grow warm.

"No one is sitting here," she replied softly, shaking her head.

"Oh, I thought someone was here," the man said, his lips curved into a slight smile.

Ellie didn't know how to respond, so she simply awkwardly bit her lip and looked out the window again.

However, in the reflection on the window, she saw the man still turned towards her. She could even feel his gaze, which made her feel uncomfortable.

She frowned and instinctively moved closer, almost pressing her shoulder against the window. She lifted her right hand to hold her left arm, slightly restraining her chest.

This defensive and resistant posture made the man's gaze follow her black hair, traveling past her ears and the fair half of her neck covered by her shirt collar. He blinked lightly, retracting his gaze.

Her ears turned red in embarrassment.

Although the man had turned away in the reflection on the window, Ellie, for some reason, still felt uneasy and couldn't help but focus her attention on him, even though he wasn't looking at her.
