Chapter 16: Really Want to Crush It
Seeing that Ellie was just staring at the business card without saying anything, Isaac quickly said, 'I saw you many times getting off at Golden Apartment, so I guessed that you might live there.'
Ellie gently pursed her lips and slowly raised her eyes to look at Isaac. 'And then?'
Isaac noticed that her guard was down and put on a cold facade, as if he finally realized that his approach just now was not only abrupt but also greedy.
He felt embarrassed. 'I was just afraid that you would misunderstand...'
'You have explained it clearly now, and I understand. Is there anything else?'
'...No, it's nothing.' Isaac hesitated for a moment before speaking softly, squeezing the business card and turning away.
Of course, Ellie could see his embarrassment and disappointment, but she didn't want to put any more pressure on him.
She took a deep breath, averted her gaze from him, and looked out the window again.
In fact, this was not the first time she had encountered someone trying to strike up a conversation with her.
So, she knew that the best way to handle it was to remain cold. After all, the person didn't say anything outright, and she couldn't just come out and say that she was married.
Yes... she was married. She had been married for six years, but the time she had spent with George felt like less than a year... No, it might even be less than six months.
Based on the ratio of six to one, when he went on business trips for six days, he should at least be home for one day.
But he was often gone for two to three months before returning, only to stay for less than a week.
She clearly remembered that there was a time when he was gone for more than six months...
Ellie was lost in her thoughts and suddenly realized that she had arrived at her stop.
She stood up, glanced at the man sitting in front of her, and then turned and got off the bus.
As soon as she got off the bus, Isaac, who had been sitting straight the whole time, immediately relaxed.
It wasn't a feeling of relief, but a sense of contentment. The gentle aura that he had been emitting disappeared, replaced by a cold and lazy demeanor.
He leaned to the side slightly and took out his phone to compose a message.
'I didn't successfully strike up a conversation, but I managed to dispel her defenses. Now it's your turn to make a move.'
After sending the message, there was a two-minute silence before receiving a reply.
Isaac lowered his head and glanced at it.
'I didn't expect you to lose your touch with women.'
The other party was clearly mocking him, but Isaac completely ignored it.
He lightly bit his lip and deleted the message, savoring the image of Ellie's small face when she had let down her guard.
She was adorable, especially when she dropped her cold pretense after removing her defenses. I really want to crush it.
On the other side, George, who had already arrived at the airport, took out his phone and called Patrick to inform him that there was a task."
To prepare him, the other side burst out cursing directly.
"What the hell! I just got married a few days ago, and now you're sending me on a mission. Do you want me to die?"
George didn't know how, but seeing the other side complaining so passionately, his originally depressed mood was somewhat alleviated, and Patrick was even gloating a little bit.
"Complaining to me is useless. This is an order from the higher-ups."
Patrick felt a surge of black blood in his throat and paused for two seconds before asking with a hint of fantasy, "Um... can't you find someone else to take over for me?"
He had been saying this for many years, but if it had been effective, he wouldn't have to go and pick him up now, would he?
A slight smirk formed at the corner of his lips as George calmly and unusually officially replied, "The fact that you got married is known by everyone in our team, including the director. Unless it is absolutely necessary, we wouldn't specially have you come at a time like this..."
"..."
