Chapter 248 The trial
We sit in the dark in a corner of the room. The old werewolves, as the judges, just arrived, and they took their seats.
Not long after, the guards led the wolves that I didn't want to see at all. When everyone was present, the one in the middle stood up, and he officially opened the trial. To see their tortured faces made me feel satisfied, even if I thought they would have deserved more.
The judge who opened the trial explained the sins the accused committed, and called the first offended, Xavier, to the podium to speak.
He told how Lucy seduced him to have the status of his Luna, and the way she tried to kill his father, the beloved Alpha of the Red River Pack.
The people in the room looked at her with hatred, and probably that was why she just sat there with her head lowered.
Xavier told us things that we have never thought Lucy could do, and finally he confessed he didn't trust her at all in the last few weeks they spent together.
Up next, the judges called witnesses up to the podium. They were mostly Omegas working in the kitchen. They told us Lucy often went to take the old Alpha's menu up to his room, so she had time and opportunity to mix the poison into his food.
There were also a few cleaners who said they might see her putting something into the old Alpha's food, then feed him.
The next one who they called was Aiden. We told him he can choose to stay out of this, but he wanted to tell everyone what they did to us.
It was heartbreaking to listen to the happenings from his perspective. Olivia's hand moved to hold mine, and when I glanced at her, her expression told me that she was crying inside.
Aiden talked about the murder of his grandfather, who he never saw. He talked about the chance that had been taken from him to get to know him. Finally, he talked about me. When his voice died, I was about to stand up and take him out of the room, but Olivia held me back. Even if that was painful for all of us, she wanted him to tell everyone what happened, to make sure they would never be able to get out of prison.
After Aiden finished his speech, he got down from the podium, and he walked back to us. As soon as he sat down, both Olivia and I embraced him, and he, like a clingy, buried his head into my chest.
The next was Alpha William to speak. Even if they have never done anything against him, he was invited as well. He witnessed a lot being next to Xavier and me, and he wanted to take part in the trial.
Irene was the next. To listen to her crying while she told the judges how she felt when her pups disappeared wasn't easy to listen to. Even if she took part in this, no one blamed her. Everyone understood her situation, and everyone felt sorry for her getting through this.
They called the culprits to the podium next. I needed to laugh when Lucy denied everything. She said her father forced her to kill the Alphas. However, she had never mixed poison into their meals, so probably the one who killed them was her father.
When it got to Harry, he blamed her daughter. He said her daughter was so addicted to her dream of becoming a Luna; she dared to murder for it.
When it got to Liam and Graham, they denied that they would have poisoned a kid, and Graham also added Eve fooled him. He said Eve only asked him to drive a car, as she had something important to do in York, and he wasn't aware that she wanted to kidnap Aiden. However, Eve said the betas threatened her. They said, if she doesn't take part in Aiden's kidnapping, her entire family will be exiled from the pack, and they will make sure she would be kicked out of university as well.
As I sat there, I felt like I was listening to a cabaret. Each of them blamed someone else for their sins.
However, there was another person to speak, and when the judge called my name to step on the podium, all of them looked at me, terrified.
After I swore to the Moon Goddess, I would tell the truth. I stepped to the podium as well.
Harry and Lucy couldn't take their eyes off of me. Probably, they couldn't believe that I was alive.
After I stepped on the podium, I started my speech. I talked about how Walter and I got into the Blue Moon Pack to take my father's dead body to the Green Community, where we could examine it by joining scientists with hundreds of years of experience.
I told them everything about the examination. I told them about my experiments and the result, and I explained the method that I used to examine Xavier's father.
Then I told them everything about my kidnapping, explaining all the torture I went through. Talking about my broken ribs that Harry caused me wasn't easy at all as it made me recall all the memories and suffering, but I remained strong. I told them about the wolfsbane that they stole from the hospital of York by Irene, and I told them how much they injected into me. Finally, I told them about Aiden's kidnapping. I told them when it seemed like Graham knew exactly why he came for, and after I broke up with Eve, her revenge was reasonable.
After I finished my speech, I walked back next to Olivia, and we sat down while the judges made their decisions. It took them a long time, which I didn't understand at all, but Olivia asked me to be patient.
Eventually, they stood up. The one in the middle held a sheet in his hand and, putting his glasses on, he started to read it.
Harry and Lucy were sentenced to a lifetime imprisonment for murdering an Alpha, and for attempting to murder Xavier's father and me.
Graham and Liam were sentenced to twenty years’ imprisonment, at least. That, if they can ever come out of it, depended on their behaviour.
Eve had been sentenced to ten years' imprisonment for kidnapping Aiden, and she was also banished from university. I also made it clear that she wasn't allowed to enter the Blue Moon Pack again.
