Chapter 97 97

Chapter 97 97

I woke up feeling groggy, the events of yesterday still clear and going round heavily on my mind. Damon had left early this morning for the trip to lunar with his secretary Selene, leaving me to get killed by whoever that burglar was.

Of course , he was heartless like that.

As I sat at the breakfast table, pushing cereal around in my bowl, my phone buzzed. I had a video call scheduled with Luxury to check in on the business.

The call was pasted in a blur. I nodded and gave half-hearted responses as Elizabeth and Jennie updated me on the sales and upcoming events and also some VIP customer lately. My mind kept drifting back to what happened yesterday, making it hard to focus. Once the call was over, I tried to shake off the unease and decided to freshen up.

I couldn't stay here alone any for another day.
What if whoever has been stalking me, or the burglar broke in.

I pulled on a ruffled skirt and a matching shirt, trying to put some effort into my appearance even though I felt anything but put together. I grabbed my bag and keys and headed to the garage. I needed to get out of the house, maybe staying at Victor's would help. I felt like it would.

His penthouse is my peace place.

Just as I was about to get into the car, I heard someone call my name.

“Ana!” The voice was urgent and familiar. I turned around to see Penelope, looking a bit unkempt and clearly distressed.

So, it turned out, today wasn't my day.

"What are you doing here?" I asked, trying to keep not to yell or even curse. I was in a bad mood already. “What do you want?”

“We need to talk,” She said, her eyes almost pleading. “It's urgent.”

I scoffed. “I don't have time for this” I turned back to the car, but she grabbed my arm.

“It's about Damon, okay? Please you have to listen to me” she blurted out.

I froze, then yanked my arm free. "Fuck off, Penelope. Go sort out your own betraying and cheating problems. It's absolutely none of my business. Why do you think I'll listen to you if it's about Damon, you backstabbing bitch!?" I got into the car and slammed the door shut before she could say another word.

Did he cheat on her? Not surprised if it was about that, because knowing who Damon is, staying with one woman is a problem.

Maybe he no longer gave her sex the way she wanted it.

I drove off, heading to Victor's penthouse. He wasn't home—too much work at the office and likely pulling an all-nighter. The drive was long and tiring.

When I arrived at Victor's place, it was quiet, almost too quiet. I wandered around for a bit, trying to find something to occupy my mind. Eventually, I changed into one of his shirts and decided to take a nap. Maybe some sleep would help.

I woke up in the mid-afternoon, feeling slightly better but still restless. I went to the kitchen and started preparing spaghetti and meatballs for dinner.

As I was finishing up, my phone buzzed again. It was a video call from Cecil. I answered, and her smiling face filled the screen.

“Hey, Babe!” she greeted me cheerfully. “How's your day going?”

I sighed. "It's been a weird one. Damon left this morning, and then Penelope showed up out of nowhere, saying we needed to talk about him."

Cecil raised an eyebrow. "Penelope? What did she want?"

"Something about Damon. I didn't stick around to find out." I rolled my eyes, trying to downplay it, but Cecil could see through me.

“Do you think it could be serious?” she asked, concern creeping into her voice.

“Probably about his cheating on her. I don't even want to talk to her.” I leaned against the kitchen counter. "Anyway, how are things with you and Theo?"

Her face lit up. "Great! He's in the shower right now, but we had a great morning together...You know... That kind of morning.” She blushed.

I scoffed. “Well, guess who's no longer innocent now”

“Hehe, I'll tell you more when we meet. So where are you?”

“At Vee's, making spaghetti”

“Ooohh, lover girl”

We talked and talked until I was done with cooking and set up a mini spa in Damon's bedroom because I had some of my things in his room.

I opened a blueberry mask, setting the phone on the vanity table. Sh was eating toasted bread.

"So, is Alpha Victor home?" she asked casually.

"Not yet. He's probably buried in work. Might not see him until tomorrow," I replied, trying to fix the mask.

I was still at it when I heard the front door creak open. I ended the call with a promise to call back soon. As soon I ended it, I tiptoed out of the room with a hammer that I didn't know where it came from.

Why the fuck did he even have a hammer?

There was no one, not even a fly but the door was slightly open. Was it the breeze? I shut the door didn't I? Beside one to need passcodes to get in so the.m actual did anyone know his passcode.

“Victor?” I called to see if it was him but I got no reply. Just my phone ringing from inside. I shut the door and searched the entire rooms and kitchen and toilet to make sure no one was in before I pushed a sofa to the back of the door and a few heavy properties just in case the burglar came again. I also double checked the windows, even made a to-do list about it, but sure, no one could fly up a penthouse from down right?

Spiderman doesn't exist right?

Ridiculous.

The rest of the evening passed quietly and slower than I wanted it. I ate my dinner, watched some TV, and tried not to think too much about earlier.

Okay, this was going to be hard.
