Chapter 125 International Player.

Chapter 125 International Player.
Asher’s POV

“I love you so much, Asher. So fucking much.”

When I opened my eyes again, the room was empty.

My brows furrowed in confusion as I sat up, looking around for a sign of Roman. I remembered pulling him back into my arms before he could pull out and then I fell asleep…

He was gone? Or was it all a dream?

I sat up with a groan and the soreness that throbbed from my ass had me collapsing back into bed.

It wasn't a dream after all. He was here, we made up and maybe everything wasn't so bad after all.

I finally dragged myself out of bed and got dressed before making my way downstairs.

Roman should be here.

However, my face fell when I saw that Vera was the only one in the sitting room, her face lighting up when she saw me.

“You're awake.” She whispered with a smile and I forced a smile on my lips as I walked over to her side. “What's with that look now? Missing your boyfriend that much?”

“Did he leave?” I asked softly as she took my hand and patted it gently.

“He did leave… but he didn't leave you behind. He'll be back.” She replied and I exhaled, letting out a sigh of relief. “Besides, he had something important to do.”

“Something important?”

“Yeah. He took your suitcase back to the university in case you'd want to change your mind again.” She replied and I looked away in embarrassment.

“I said those things and did them without thinking—”

“You were hurt. It wasn't your fault for reacting.” She cut me off gently and I sighed. “Besides, Roman went to make sure everything was perfect before you returned.”

“What do you mean?” I asked in confusion and she shrugged.

“Let's just say by the time you return to the school, Keith should be gone.” She replied and my eyes widened. “I brought him back, I can also take him away. And Roman is finalizing everything. Maybe he might hit him a few times, but who am I to stop kids these days?”

She seemed quite proud as she spoke and I couldn't help but chuckle in amusement as I agreed with her.

Keith deserved more than a few punches, because I would do worse to him. But letting him go was for the best.

“I also wanted to talk to you about something, Asher.” She said softly and I turned to her with an attentive expression.

“What is it?”

The way she sounded made me feel like I was sitting with my mom again, and listening to her advice.

“Tell me the truth, do you really want to give up on playing in the NHL?” She asked with a very serious expression and I let out a sigh.

“I have made up my mind. Besides, there's nothing that can be done—”

“Forget about what can be done and just tell me the truth. Are you really gonna give up on the national team?” She questioned as my shoulders slumped in defeat and I nodded.

“Yes. I know Keith has been fired and all, but the deed has been done. Genuinely, if I wasn't so desperate, I'd be on the national team already. So I'm accepting the consequences of my actions.” I muttered truthfully and she let out a sigh.

She gently caressed my hair with a small smile that showed how much I meant to her, and it had my throat tightening for a moment.

“You know even though I'm not your mom, I'll be your mother-in-law anyway, so feel free to talk to me.” She muttered with a smile and my face burned so hard that I had to bury it in my hands.

Oh my goodness.

“No need to be so flustered, it's the truth, no?” She chuckled in amusement as she rubbed my back gently.

“I guess…” I muttered, feeling flustered as I finally looked at her. “I understand that you really want to help… but it's too late.”

“It's not. Listen to me, I will do anything to make sure your dreams come to reality.” She muttered with utmost sincerity, which made me gasp.

“But—”

“Tell me, Asher, what do you say about playing internationally? With no ban to hold you back and no dads to stop you from being a star.”

My ears rang at her words as I stared at her, speechless.

Internationally…? Me?

“I feel guilty towards you, Asher. If I didn't bring Keith over, none of this would have happened. So let me make it up to you.” She added and I swallowed hard. “So what do you say? Would you agree to play internationally?”

“You don't have to feel guilty—”

“I'm choosing to. I'll do anything for you, so tell me. Hurry up before I change my mind.” She added with a wink and I couldn't help but swallow hard.

“What… is your plan?” I whispered softly and she gestured for me to come closer.

I leaned closer to her and she whispered words into my ears that had my eyes widening in disbelief.

“That could actually happen? Is it really possible?” I asked with wide eyes and she nodded with a smile as she rubbed my shoulders gently.

“Leave it all to me, alright? I'll make it work. You, my darling, are going international.” She responded as she took out her phone and I wanted to say words of gratitude.

But my throat was tight.

“Thank you…”

That was all I could mutter, honestly.

“It's alright, seriously. Besides…” She turned to stare at me with a smile. “Your dad asked for my help as well. So know one thing… you're not alone.”

My dad…?

“What has my dad got to do with this? Did he really come to you?” I asked in disbelief and she nodded with a smile.

“More like he called… he's desperate. I can tell he cares about you—”

“It doesn't matter if he does. I don't need his help.” I mumbled with a huff as I crossed my arms over my chest.

“Don't be so stubborn now.” I heard a voice from the door and I froze.
