“Pardon me, I shall be careful and reflect upon my actions.”

Lana immediately handled the situation as she begged him to spare his life. Even though she truly wished that the alpha had taken her life instead. But how could she ask for death all by herself knowing that the maniac would never kill her. Instead the alpha might make her life even more miserable acknowledging that she was on his mercy.

Nonetheless, Sahan bent over deliberately making Lana startled over his sudden action. The man stuck his tongue out and licked the corner of her lips, Lana was frozen in her place with confusion. The alpha appeared to be a bipolar personality the way he had been acting. Just a while ago he was hellbent over making her eat like a pet and now he was giving her tender treatment.

“Good. You are smelling heavenly compared to yesterday.”

Sahan made the remark as he looked into her eyes while making it obvious that he was teasing her. On the other hand she was not ready for any such thing which caught her off guard, Lana blankly stared at him rather blushing. However, her curious eyes were still fixated over the alpha’s flickering golden eyes which made her uneasy.

“Lady Noh must be rewarded to make you appear presentable.”

He released her chin and settled back in the chair while Sahan waited for the guest. Meanwhile he made an awful expression while resuming his brief conversation with Lana.

“Goodness! You smelled and looked equally awful when I bought you.”

He intentionally used those words to make her recall the position she was brought there.

Lana on the other hand knew the alpha was now testing her patience and looking for an excuse to punish her. But was that all? So much ruckus just to punish her, or was there more than her eyes could see? The woman lowered her head not to boldly look into his eyes as she did not to offend the alpha or give him a chance to do as he pleased. Sahan could potentially see that she was terrified of him and that made her obedient.

Now all he had to do was to keep her afraid every time he was around.

Meanwhile they both were having their own little cold session when the sentry arrives once again. He made the announcement to inform about lord Hawthorne’s brother. The alpha fixated his eyes over the entrance where the sentry stood with his staff. Sahan placed his one ankle over the chair as he anticipated the arrival of the count. The alpha’s posture became stiff and the aura which circulated around him now was completely different from before.

“Greetings, your highness.”

A tall man with a wide stature appeared as he halted in the entrance as he bowed obediently. Lana heard his loud voice but she did not make noise or even dared to turn around knowing that the alpha would clearly rip her eyes out. And as expected Sahan cast a look at her while making sure that whether she was abiding by his sayings or not.

“Come in, lord Pierce.”

Sahan spoke in a casual voice even though the way he had reacted to the lord’s arrival was not so pleasant. The supreme alpha’s gaze was fixated over the lord while he walked towards the long stretched table. Lord Pierce approached the chair near Sahan which was over his left side. This time Lord Pierce noticed the presence of the girl near Alpha's feet and it surprised him.

Sahan was not someone known to have a harem or any woman around him ever after the incident of his mistress. Thus, upon seeing a female sitting miserably near his feet made him genuinely curious. However, the Lord could see Lana’s contrasting appearance with the posture she had been sitting in. Lord Pierce settled himself in the chair while he shifted his eyes towards the alpha only to see that Sahan had been staring at him.

"Are you empty stomach?"

Sahan gestured towards the cake and bread which rested on the table untouched. Lana did not look up fearing what if the alpha might just snap her head? She could not afford to die like that or even wished to die miserably. On the other hand, lord Pierce forced a smile over his lips as he tried to suppress his curiosity. He shook his head in refusal while intended to appear as polite as he could.

"I appreciate the generosity, your highness. Pardon me but I have to refuse."

Lord Pierce responded while bowing his head to present his gentle refusal as he could not offend the alpha at all. On the other hand Sahan looked at him with the utmost disgust as his golden eyes threw spades of anger. Lord Pierce’s breath immediately hitched as he cast a look at the supreme alpha and knew what he was meaning.

The lord stretched his hand and tried to shake off the tense atmosphere with his forced fake chuckle. He looked at the alpha and tried to keep his eyes off the woman sitting beside him.

“Hah…ah…but how can I refuse the generosity from the supreme alpha?”

Lord Pierce did not even bother to look at the items over the table and under the influence of fright he randomly picked whatever was in front of him.

“A wise one, indeed.”

Sahan mocked him for the reaction knowing that he could not do anything in front of him. The supreme alpha lifted his fork and began to devour the cake. Meanwhile Lana felt like a useless object in the hall among those two powerful men. Everyone in the kingdom had an upper hand over her or else why would she have ended up being sold to a brothel in the first place.

“The city of Crimen will cherish you as their ruler,”

The supreme alpha diverted the chat towards the main point for which the lord had actually arrived. Sahan was well aware of what had been happening in his kingdom in different states and cities. He shifted his curious gaze towards Lord Pierce who had been regretting eating the pickle which he randomly selected.

His awful facial expression satisfied Sahan who knew the motive behind his coming. It was highly obvious but he wished to know how far lord Pierce would stoop to get his work done.

“They already declared you as their new alpha which itself displays their faith in you.”

Sahan deliberately chose those words to boost his ego and self confidence only to crush it later on. After all, he was well aware of every single soul existing in his kingdom.

But hereby I ask you, was he truly aware of everything ongoing in his territory?

Kingdom Selene was a vastly stretched supernatural place situated in the midst of mountainous rings. Assuming that the kingdom was the core there were a lot of mountains surrounding the region which completely hid its existence. However, due to the multiple mountain ranges concealing the kingdom Selene every other crime was also hidden. Since there were numerous ways of approaching the kingdom which all came through the narrow pathways of the mountains.

The geographical area gave rise to the multiple crimes and since werewolves could easily blend among humans and vice versa. A lot of lords began to bargain, sell and buy people and that was the time when Leita and her mistress were sold to some rich count. Although he claimed that they had accidentally trespassed the kingdom Selene and was amazed by its resplendent beauty.

The kingdom comprised numerous bigger cities which had their own alpha dukes and beta counts. Above all of them was the supreme alpha who ruled the whole kingdom as whole. However, due to multiple states and cities the management panel was fat stretched. It encouraged people to sneakily commit terrible deeds assuming which might go unnoticed by the supreme alpha.

“Yes, your highness. They truly are loving ones and chose me as the next duke.”

Lord Pierce was yet to be announced as the next duke after Hawthorne’s death and for that purpose he required the alpha’s presence. Sahan was well aware what he wanted and for what agenda he had come there. But what was the fun in giving everything on first request? He pretended to play along the lies of Pierce as if he had been unaware of the condition of the city.

The city of Crimen had become true to its name and the hub of every single crime mainly due to its geographical position. Since it was the first spot right after entering the kingdom from the south, the Crimen city became the centre of dirty deeds soon after Hawthorne took the control. It was due to his recklessness that the beta Curtis raided and caught the deal of Leita and her mistress’ selling.

Even though Sahan was the supreme alpha and held the authority over the kingdom, he was still bound to not act openly in certain matters. Since he was not the chosen ruler by the people of kingdom Selene instead he conquered it to become the supreme alpha. He was neither heartily loved nor truly hated either because of the minor but desired changes he brought.

“I hope I can trust you in the reciprocating of that love, unlike your brother.”

Sahan paused his hands while eating and looked at Lord Pierce who in turn immediately stopped chewing the pickle. He could feel the glare of golden eyes and the obvious threat made by the supreme alpha to let him know about the consequences. Sahan knew that he was no different from his brother Hawthorne but it was not the right time to act either.

The supreme alpha was aware that he was not the one who appointed these dukes and counts. They had been ruling and reigning over the cities ever since the former supreme alpha came into power. The kingdom Selene itself was a notorious hub and only power and wealth reigned while the poor were crushed and enslaved. When Sahan came into power after murdering the former alpha he wished to remodel the system.

“Yes, yes. Of course, your highness. With due respect, I am fully conscious and elated that you expect so much from me. And I will try whatever is in my hands to make it work.”

Lord Pierce boldly lied with confidence about being different from his brother. Even though Sahan was well informed about both brothers he could not eradicate them like that. It hadn’t been many years since he conquered the kingdom and Sahan had yet to gain the trust of the people.

However, it was also the reason he refused to make public appearances even after years. And stressed on roaming around the kingdom as a commoner so he could get the gist of things. He was adamant in knowing the condition of people of all classes and similar stuff. Sahan could possibly take many guesses because the way he easily conquered the kingdom itself spoke a lot about the defence.

“A man’s actions weigh more than his words, Lord Pierce.”

Sahan spoke in a curt voice making Pierce know that he was not going to take his hollow words. And would be keeping a check over his activities and progress too regarding the city of Crimen. The supreme alpha acknowledged the dire need to uproot the existing people who were appointed over the authoritative positions.

However, the problem lay in the procedure of doing it because the kingdom itself was far stretched and huge. Sahan was able to conquer the Selene by straight up sneaking his way inside the Belle Morta and killing the former king. Whereas, with the help of his beta he was able to trespass the kingdom walls easily. But it left the biggest question unanswered for everyone to ponder upon.

How was Sahan able to fight the guards and staff of Belle Morte when he had no such powers? It was certain that his health was not an efficient one, moreover he had only heard his wolf’s voice twice till now in all those years. There was no way he took down those werewolf soldiers all alone without any aid. It appeared that the supreme alpha had a lot more secrets and on his plate from what a naked eye could see.

“Certainly, your highness. I will reflect on my brother’s actions and fix everything bad done by him and under his rule.”

Lord Pierce sounded convincing with the way he spoke and tried to assure Sahan about his future plans. Unbeknownst to him the supreme alpha was well versed in the condition of his city and knew the lies he had been spewing.

Sahan snapped his fingers and a maid appeared from the right side of the hall. The woman was clad in a long loose brown dress which perfectly hid her body. A white apron was donned over her gown to indicate that she was a staff member. The woman approached the alpha and poured the wine in the glasses, while the lord ogled her body as much as he could see. Sahan was aware how the so called guests treated the female staff of Belle Morte which was mainly the fault of provocative uniform.

As soon as he took the control of Belle Morte and won the trust of the staff working there. He made the reforms to bring some changes which were uncomfortable to the members. One of them involved the change in the uniform which was requested by the female staff themselves. That was why an expression of disgust grimaced over his lips upon seeing how lustfully lord Pierce had been undressing the maid in his mind. It seemed that even modest clothing could not save the women from predators and lust gods.

The maid cast a look at the alpha who dismissed him with a nod, the woman walked towards the exit. Meanwhile the heated lustful gaze of lord Pierce accompanied her to the end of the hall. It was the moment when Sahan extended his arm and concealed his vision with the wine glass. How could he let his staff be ridiculed, even though it was ironic how he had been treating Lana at the same time.

His loud voice echoed in the hall making the lord divert his attention as Pierce reached for the glass too. A smile was exchanged between both men as they looked at each other with a meaningful look.

“To the bright future!”

Sahan twirled his glass and took a sip while deliberately making Lord Pierce wait. After all, it was considered rude to drink before the supreme alpha could start.

“Yes, your highness. To the bright future of the kingdom Selene and the city of Crimen.”

Lord Pierce repeated those words with confidence to convince the alpha about the sincerity. He did not want Sahan to suspect him and to place him in the same queue as of his late brother. Pierce had been playing slyly and according to the plan he had in his mind which was originated by the other alpha dukes.

It was not a new thing nor a shock that the dukes which were appointed by the former supreme alpha wanted to take down Sahan. They had already figured it out by the gradual yet slow changes in the kingdom Selene, that one day Sahan will take the hold of everything and bring them down too. If that happened then every dirty deed would be exposed and the corrupt people would be shunned. Quite possibly eradicated in the midst of the public as the example for the future1
