Chapter 22
The atmosphere in the room was tense as Kyle leaned back on his chair, swirling the glass of whiskey in his hands. Darren stood by the window side taking in the view of the pack house.
They had been racking their heads about the different possibilities about the murder of one of their pack members who had been poisoned underneath their noses, but they hadn't been able to come up with a perfect explanation for what happened and why it happened even with the ongoing investigations.
“Look, Darren—” Kyle started but was cut off by a low growl from Darren who had been in a bad mood since.
“I'm sorry, Alpha Darren. I think we should just let the council handle this. This is their job and that's why they are in that position, it's not ours.”
“That doesn't mean it's none of our business. It's my pack!” Darren said facing Kyle.
“Yes sir, but worrying about it without any concrete evidence would just put more strain on us. If they come up with something after their investigation then we would know what to do moving forward. I feel we should head back to the city for a while.” Kyle suggested.
Darren didn't reply immediately, He was in deep thought, his expression unreadable.
Kyle pressed on. “Look, whoever poisoned the guy probably had a personal vendetta. These things have a way of surfacing. Whoever’s responsible will slip up eventually, and the council will take care of it.”
Darren looked up, his eyes narrowing. “And if they don’t?”
“They will.” Kyle said firmly. “We’ve done enough. Staying here is just inviting more trouble.”
Darren’s lips twitched in what might have been agreement. “Fine. We’ll leave tomorrow.”
Kyle smirked, tipping his glass toward Darren. “Smart choice. Nothing bad will happen again, trust me.”
“I hope not. Or else…” Darren said, leaving the threat hanging in the air.
The next morning, the three of them piled into Darren’s sleek black SUV. Heather sat stiffly in the back seat, her arms crossed and her gaze fixed on the scenery flashing past the window. Darren drove in silence, his jaw tight as if lost in thought.
Kyle, however, was in a decidedly lighter mood. He turned in his seat to look at Heather, his grin unsettling. “You look tense, Heather. Long night?”
“Yeah, kind of.” She responded looking at Darren through the rear view mirror, who dashed her a glance before returning his attention back to the road.
Kyle chuckled. “Come on, lighten up. We’re going back to civilization. No more creepy woods, no more poisonings. Isn’t that a relief?”
“Not really. Especially when it still feels like I'm in a prison.” Heather responded, throwing a subtle jab at Darren.
Darren’s grip on the wheel tightened, but he said nothing.
Kyle noticed the tension between the both of them and smiled wryly. He leaned in closer to Heather, his voice falling into a suggestive murmur. “Tell me… did something happen between you and Darren last night?”
Heather's head snapped towards him, her heart picking up the pace. “What do you mean?”
Kyle smirked, leaning back in his seat. “Nothing. Nothing. Just a hunch, I mean the tension is rather palpable but what do I know?”
Darren finally spoke, his voice cold. “Shut up, Kyle.”
But Kyle wasn’t done. He glanced at Darren, a mischievous glint in his eyes. “You can’t keep her all to yourself, Darren. That’s not fair. I think it’s time I got my share.”
Darren’s jaw clenched, but he didn’t argue. Instead, he kept his focus on the road, his silence a tacit approval.
Kyle turned back to Heather, his smile widening. “What do you say, sweetheart? Let’s make this drive a little more... entertaining.”
“What?” Heather said, confused.
Kyle's hand moved to rest on her thigh. “Come on, you know what I mean.” His hands trailed further slipping into her inner thigh and making her gasp.
“Here? Now? In a moving car?”
“Well, that's what adds to the excitement.” Kyle said as he unbuckled revealing his already hard dick.
“Come on. Daddy's waiting.” Kyle urged.
Darren’s grip on the wheel tightened at that sight but he looked away quickly and tried to focus on other things.
Heather, having been deprived of release throughout her episode with Darren as a form of punishment, decided to use the opportunity to spite Darren.
She slowly lowered her head, taking Kyle's dick in her mouth and expertly sucking him off.
Kyle's hands moved towards her skirt, and slipped into her panties as he slipped a finger in her and started fingering her.
The lustful sound of Heather moaning as she sucked Kyle and Kyle's fingers as it slapped into Heather's pussy filled the car.
Heather rocked against Kyle's fingers allowing his finger to curl deeper into her, while she deepthroated him in a way that caused his dick to become harder.
“Fuck.” Kyle moaned, closing his eyes in ecstasy.
“Faster!” Kyle ordered, as he doubled his fingers inside her and increased the tempo of his fingers sliding through her wet walls going almost deep into her cervix.
Heather obeyed and bobbed her head faster while moaning against his dick, just as she came against his hands, Kyle arched his back, grabbing her head as he came into her mouth.
“That was amazing.” Kyle said as he took time to recover from the feeling of highness he was on.
“We are home.” Darren said in a cold voice as he parked in front of the house.
Heather quickly composed herself, grabbing a tissue from behind the car and cleaning her mouth, making sure not to swallow any of his cum. Then she dressed up properly, adjusting herself before stepping out of the car.
“I've missed this place. Don't you, Heather?” Kyle said as he stepped out of the car.
She didn’t respond, storming toward the house. Darren followed, his expression grim.
The first thing they noticed was the eerie silence. The house, usually bustling with staff, was deathly quiet.
“Where is everyone?” Kyle muttered, frowning.
Darren pushed the door open, and the three of them froze. Lying in the center of the grand foyer was the lifeless body of their housekeeper.
Heather gasped, her hand flying to her mouth. Kyle cursed under his breath, while Darren stepped forward, kneeling beside the body.
“She’s been dead for hours,” he said, his voice tight. “Look at her throat.”
Heather’s stomach turned at the sight of the deep gashes across the woman’s neck.
“Oh God, I'm going to puke.”
Kyle ran a hand through his hair, his earlier smugness replaced with unease. “This wasn’t random. Someone sent a message.”
Darren stood, his expression dark. “Lock the doors. No one gets in or out.”
Kyle nodded, moving to secure the house. Heather, still shaken, backed against the wall, her mind racing.
Darren turned to her, his eyes cold. “You’re not leaving my sight. Understand?”
She nodded mutely, too terrified to argue.
“Shouldn't we call the cops or something?”
“I don't think it's a human that did this.” Kyle said as he walked back inside.
“Yeah, the housekeeper isn't someone I know to pick fights with anyone and I know I didn't cause any trouble that would warrant this and neither did Kyle.” Darren said and settled his gaze on Heather.
“What? You don't think I'm responsible for this in any way, do you? I've fucking been with you guys since so how on Earth could I have been responsible?” Heather yelled angrily.
“I think we should all calm down. I would call the council to send in our men. The sooner we deal with this the better.” Kyle said, trying to calm the tension in the room.
“Yeah I agree. We should block off this area and check around the house for any sign.” Darren said.
“And me?” Heather asked, not wanting to be left alone with a dead body.
“You're not going anywhere. Even if I don't have any evidence yet, a lot of weird things have been happening ever since you came around. You're the centerpiece of all this and I would make sure I find out your business in all of this.” Darren threatened before walking out of the room.
“I can't believe this.” Heather sinks into a nearby chair, tears welling up her eyes. She feels so overwhelmed by what has been going on, she doesn't know what's happening but she cannot also deny that strange things have been happening but she knows she doesn't have any involvement in this.
All she wanted was money, money to save her best friend's life who now lays in the hospital bed struggling to take even a single breath.
“Hey, it's okay. Darren has just been going through a lot lately.” Kyle said, trying to calm her down.
“Yeah and I'm the best person to take it out on.” Heather replied sarcastically.
“Not that. You just have to give him time to gather his thoughts.”
“I just want to leave.” Heather said under her breath and she struggled to fight back against the tears.
