A little while later, Eva and Kael had emerged from the water onto the rocky shore beside the waterfall. Kael gently laid Eva's bare body down on the sand and leaned over her.
Eva still couldn't believe what had just happened.
"We are genuinely lying completely naked on the sand right now," she said.
Kael brushed the grey strands of hair falling across Eva's face back with his fingers.
"Yes," he said in a low voice. "And you are my wife now."
Eva smiled. That playful glint was still in her eyes.
"Don't you ever worry about ending up naked after shifting? How are we going to get home from here, for instance? I don't think anyone is going to look normally at naked people wandering through the forest. We can't exactly hitchhike like this either."
Kael looked at her with a faint smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
"Before you came along, being naked after a shift was never a concern of mine, little one. For many long years I was a wolf without consciousness."
Then, as he pressed soft kisses to Eva's lips, her chin, and her neck, he murmured:
"And unlike you, you have a wolf mate who can shift whenever he pleases. I'll carry you back."
Kael's touches had grown increasingly bold. His large hands moved relentlessly across Eva's bare waist. Fueled by the fire of desire rising inside him, he no longer wanted to hold himself back. With the hunger of centuries, he wanted to claim his woman entirely.
For a moment he gripped Eva's chin and tilted her face upward. He pressed his lips hard against hers, kissing her deeply and possessively, as though he could consume her whole. His other hand gripped her waist firmly, pressing her against his hardening need.
Before long, his fully aroused, rock-hard body had begun to make itself unmistakably known against Eva's hips. Eva could feel that the moment had come. And so she surrendered herself to that relentless desire. But alongside her wolf instincts, an impatient hunger had also awakened within her. As Kael's lips traveled along Eva's neck, her breathing grew faster. She threw her head back, her eyes falling shut, and whispered, "Don't keep me waiting any longer. I want you inside me," her voice trembling with desire.
Kael lifted his head and looked into Eva's eyes. His gaze was so intense that Eva forgot to breathe. It was as though a different kind of energy now existed between them. In that moment, she could feel not only the pleasure coursing through her own body, but the pleasure in Kael's as well, deep within her. Every touch had begun to feel twice as powerful, and even the thought of the moment they would truly become one was enough to drive her mad.
