Chapter 73 - Unexpected Visitor
I woke up to Blake’s concerned eyes staring down at me. All six of The Coven members leaning over Blake, watching me with concerned looks too.
“Angel, are you okay? What happened?” Blake helped me sit up, keeping me close to him.
“Max?” I looked around to see where he was.
On the floor next to me lay Max’s unmoving body.
“Max!” I yelled, reaching over to shake his body.
“Max, wake up!” I shook his body, trying to get a response.
“Rosy, what’s going on?!” Blake demanded, moving to the other side of his brother and helping me shake him.
Max groaned, and his body twitched.
“Oh, thank God” I sighed and sat back.
“Ouch,” he groaned as Blake helped him to sit up.
“Someone want to tell us what the hell is going on?” Blake growled impatiently.
“Not so loud, asshole.” Max groaned, flinching away from Blake.
I sighed and shook my head, trying to clear it of the fogginess.
“We saw the Moon Goddess,” I finally muttered.
A series of loud gasps echoed through the big empty room.
“That’s not possible. Selene doesn’t just visit someone like that” Klaus knelt next to me, observing.
“Well, old man, she was there. She even lifted the suppressant spell.” Max added, standing up to stretch his arms and legs.
“What?!” they all roared in unison.
“Can I please have some water?” I groaned. My body was feeling frail and sluggish.
Mia quickly came to my side and handed me a bottle.
“Blakey,” I whispered, feeling faint.
Immediately two arms wrapped around me, and I was pulled into Blake’s warm chest.
“Selene had woke my wolf up ages ago. She said she knew her mistake when I had my first fainting episode. She said it was only then that she realized Evelyn had stopped renewing the spell, and my body was starting to decay. Selene woke up my wolf Kiki to help me, and Kiki was the one that sent me into heat so that you and I could mate and lift the curse. Selene didn’t want to lift it herself until the time was right. Guess the time finally came” I looked up at Blake.
“Angel, I’m so relieved” Blake pulled me into his arms, hugging me tightly.
“I’m so happy” he hid his face into the crook of my neck and took a deep breath in.
“Don’t get too happy just yet. Rosy isn’t safe just yet. After you hear what Selene has planned for Rosy, you may hate her as much as I do,” Max grumbled, pulling his shirt on.
Blake pulled away and looked up at Max.
“Planned for Rosy? What do you mean?” Blake asked, his voice the calmest I’ve heard when talking to Max.
“Rosy’s wolf was given to her with a purpose. Selene said Kiki is what we call a spirit reaper. They can separate a spirit from the human host and send it back to the spirit realm. They are very rare spirits, and Selene blessed Rosy with Kiki so that she could put an end to Amon.”
“No fucking way!” Blake boomed, making everyone jump.
“That’s what I said to her.” Max rolled his eyes.
“Why the fuck would Selene give Rosy a suicide mission? She hasn’t even had her first shift.” Blake growled.
I looked down at my hands, knowing very well Blake was right, but so was Selene.
“All she said was she has all the help she needs. The Coven, Blake and me.” Max looked down at me, sighing loudly.
“Yeah, right. Like I’m going to let you stick around long enough to get close to Rosy again. After last night, you will never be around her,” Blake hissed, glaring at his brother.
“You don’t have to worry about that anymore, Blake. Max will only be my friend now, nothing else” I stood up, wrapping my hands around Blake’s arm.
Blake looked down at me, his eyes softening.
“I don’t get it.”
“Turns out I’m not Max’s mate after all. Selene said Max has a different purpose, and he needs to find his true mate to reveal his true purpose.” I smiled up at Blake, a wave of relief surging through me.
Blake’s expression changed, and he turned to look at Max. Max, on the other hand, started to walk away.
It broke my heart watching him so sullen.
“Max-...” Blake called.
“You win, Blake. You always win! You got everything. All the powers and status handed to you on a silver platter. And I got left behind with nothing. While you had people kissing your feet, I had to find my feet. Do you have any idea how hard it is when you are mediocre and look exactly like your powerful brother? People look at you with expectation. They question why I’m not exactly like my brother. I worked hard to get to where I am today, but yet again, I am left empty-handed. Why is Selene so cruel?!” Max’s voice broke a little.
My heart broke even more. I gently pushed Blake, urging him to go to his brother.
Blake sighed and walked over to Max. He reached out and squeezed Max’s shoulder.
“You and I haven’t been on the best terms for so long. I know it’s my fault because I got so carried away with becoming King I didn’t realize I was leaving you behind. I wanted us to rule together, to build our territory together. I’m sorry I failed to convey that message. Forgive me, brother. Forgive me,” Blake sighed, turning Max to look at him.
Tears slid down Max’s cheeks.
“I should be the one asking for forgiveness. I’ve made your life hell, stooping as low as trying to kill your mate. I’m sorry too,” Max sobbed, pulling Blake into a hug.
Watching the boys patch up filled my heart with so much joy.
“Well, that’s just beautiful, isn’t it” a voice echoed through the room.
We all looked around to find where the voice was coming from.
At the main door stood six men dressed in all black clothing. The six men moved aside, and from behind them, another guy walked in. he too was dressed in black clothing, but instead of just black jeans and a t-shirt like the others, he was wearing a three-piece black suit.
Max growled loudly, his body tensing up.
The man chuckled but kept walking towards us.
“I should be the one getting mad, Max. After all, you betrayed me and turned your back on the deal we had.” the guy spoke.
The closer he got, the clearer his face got for me. He looked older and had handsome features. His dark hair was tousled, and all the tattoos visible on his body made him look badass.
“You shouldn’t be here,” Max growled, clenching his fists.
“And you were meant to kill this girl and her mother. I had to do half the work for you, so I guess it’s all about not doing things we’re supposed to,” the man replied, his eyes scanning the room.
What did he mean half the job?!
“You killed Bethany?” Blake growled, pulling me behind him.
“I will neither agree nor deny that. You must be Max’s estranged twin brother.”
Max moved closer to Blake, both of them becoming a human shield before me.
I felt a presence behind me. The coven members had formed a semi-circle behind me, caging me in.
“So much protection for one worthless soul,” the man snickered.
“She’s not worthless. That’s my mate you are talking about. However, I would love to know who the fuck you are?!” Blake snapped.
“Max, why don’t you introduce me to your brother? After all, you and I have a friendship no one can explain better than you” the man tilted his head and smirked.
“Max?!” Blake looked at his brother.
Max ground his teeth so hard you could hear it.
“Amon,” Max hissed.
My heart stopped. Amon?!
This was Amon?! This couldn’t be happening! How the hell did he find us?!
“Oh, introduce me properly, boy.” the man rolled his eyes before curling his lips into an evil grin. “Hi, my name is Josh Whitlock, but a lot of people know me as Amon.”
Blake’s loud growl echoed through the building making the windows rattle.
“I suggest you turn around and go back to whatever hell hole you came out of before I snap your neck.”
“Tsk tsk. You really have no idea who you are dealing with, young man. Although, I must applaud you for thinking you could take me on.”
*“*I can take him on, let me take over, and he will regret the day he decided to come here*”* Kiki growled in my head.
Oh god! No, I wasn’t ready for that.
I stood there trying to figure out how to talk back to Kiki without speaking out loud.
*“*I can hear your thoughts. It’s called a mindlink. Just think of whatever you want to say to me, and I can hear it.*”* Kiki instructed.
*“*I’m not ready for this. I barely know how to talk to you. What makes you think I can handle transforming into a huge wolf?*”* I felt silly, shifting my weight from one foot to another awkwardly.
*“*You aren’t alone. I’m here to lead the way for you. As Selene said, you were born for this, Rosy. Do not doubt yourself or the strength you have. Yes, it hurts a little the first time, but after that, your body is attuned to it.*”* Kiki stated.
*Was I really that strong?* I had witnessed Blake transforming from a wolf into a human once, and from memory, the sound of cracking bones wasn’t pleasant. Of course, Blake didn’t look in any pain when it happened, but then again, I wasn’t paying must attention to his pain levels.
I knew I had a high pain tolerance thanks to mum’s constant beatings. But was my body strong enough?
“I don’t think you should be provoking me. I don’t know what my brother has told you about me, but I can assure you, I am capable of things you can not imagine,” Blake snapped.
I suddenly felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned to find Mia standing behind me.
“Luna, I think we should get you out of here. It’s not safe,” she whispered.
“The girl doesn’t leave. This place is surrounded by wolves and witches instructed to kill her and anyone that is seen with her,” Josh roared. He had a sour expression on his face.
“Fuck off, asshole. You will go nowhere near Rosy.” Max growled.
“If I were you, I wouldn’t talk to me like that, Max. I taught you dark magic, and I can just as easily take it away. Perhaps I should take all your magic away. Let’s see how high and mighty you are without your powers.”
Blake growled loudly again and started shaking vigorously.
“Do not talk to my brother like that, you fucker!” Blake hissed through his teeth. You could see the veins starting to show on his temples.
“Oh yeah? Who’s going to stop me?” Josh smirked, taking a step forward. His eyes scanned everyone before landing on me.
“Rosy, darling, why don’t you come and say hello to your uncle? You and I, even though we are related by dirty blood, still have a relationship.”
Blake reached behind me, wrapping his arm around my waist and pressing me against his back.
Max instinctively moved closer to Blake as well.
Mia hadn’t left my side either. The Coven members all got closer to me.
“Must be nice to have both brothers wrapped around your fingers.” Josh snickered.
“I think it’s time you leave. You are on my territory without permission, and I have the authority to throw you out,” Blake growled.
*“*Do not let that man near our mate.*”* Kiki growled in my head.
I grabbed the back of Blake’s vest and held on tightly.
“If you haven’t noticed, I’m all about breaking the rules. Besides, your useless title is no match to my dark magic.”
The six-man that came with Josh was standing at the doorway behind Josh. They shut the temple door and stood in front of it, hands crossed in front of them.
“You are standing in a mage temple in front of seven very powerful mages. Spirit or not, you do not stand a chance,” Max roared.
“How about I show you exactly what I can do” Josh’s eyes started to glow, and his expression became scary.
He raised his hands, and the air inside the temple got thicker and felt very dry. It felt the same as when Benji had done his magic think in the clinic.
The stormy atmosphere started to get intense as it got windy inside.
“Klaus! Put up a protection wall with me,” Max screamed, raising his hands.
Klaus nodded and followed Max, copying the words Max was chanting.
Suddenly, a blinding flash of lightning lit up the room, followed by an ominous crack of thunder.
At the sound of the thunder, the room filled with screams. I looked around to find all the Coven members on the floor clutching their heads. Their high-pitched screams rang in my ears.
In front of me, Blake and Max were in the same position. They were the only two not screaming, but the pain of whatever was happening was evident on their faces. Their crumbled bodies twisted and spasmed in pain.
Fear coursed through me. My heart was beating so fast I could hear the loud thud in my ears. All the crumpled bodies around me withering in pain made me feel so useless.
*“*LET ME OUT!*”* Kiki screamed in my head.
The stormy winds in the temple intensified, and the air got thicker. Lightning and thunder booming through the building.
“Come here, Rosalie.” Josh roared.
The fear coursing through my body had paralyzed my body. My chest tightened, and breathing became difficult.
*“*Rosalie, I can help you. Please, let me out! I know it’s scary, but I will look after you, I promise. Look around you. There is no one to help us. They will die if we don’t do something*”* Kiki hissed.
I looked at all the crumbled bodies withering in pain. Blake rolled over, and there was a thick trail of blood rolling out of his noses and ears.
“BLAKE!” I screamed, kneeling next to him. I pulled him onto my lap and wiped the blood.
“Blake, what is happening?!” I shrieked.
Blake grunted and groaned, still clutching to his head.
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO THEM?!” I yelled at Josh.
Max twisted around, and there was a trail of blood across his face.
“You want to save them? Get up and come to me." Josh roared.
“N-..n-..no..” Blake groaned, trying to grab onto my arm.
A loud clap of thunder shook the room, frightening me.
“ROSALIE!” Josh roared. His voice changed pitch, and his eyes changed into a silver glow.
*“*Rosy, please, let me help you. I don’t want to take over without your consent; that will hurt even more. Your bones and muscles need to be relaxed for this to work easily.*”* Kiki exclaimed, desperation in her voice.
Kiki started pushing against my attempts to keep her in. It was making my head feel heavy and bringing on a headache.
“R-... Ro-... Rosy-... R-...ru-...run…” Max stuttered, groaning in pain.
**A/N:-
Dear readers,
It has been brought to my attention that my book has quite a few spelling and grammatical errors. Thank you to anyone that has reached out and helped me correct them. However, I would like to clear a few things up. My book is still ongoing and once I have finished it, I will be doing an overoll edit and correct everything. We do not have any help editing our work and try our best to get as close to correct grammar as we can. Pointing out the errors I have made in every chapter, every paragraph isn't helping me but creating more work for me as I have to go through my 70+ chapters to find your comments. Unfortunately, the app doesn't show us what chapter or paragraph you have commented on, therefore making more work for us. I sincerely request if you could please avoid pointing out the errors as I will correct them as soon as possible. Please do understand that English is my second lanugage and I live in a country that doesn't use American English but British. You will find words spelt differently as my computer autocorrects it to the English we use here.
I also request if you could please add chapter name or number to your comments so that I can find your comment if you do make a comment.
Thank you so very much for reading and I hope you understand! :)**
