Chapter 67 - Decisions

“Have you lost your mind, you old hag?! Blake roared.

“There is no way I will agree to this. Rosy is my destined mate. I love her more than life itself. I would rather die than marry that bitch!”

Blake was shaking with rage. His eyes went dark, and I felt his body stiffen.

“Well then, you can sit back and watch her die,” Cynthia shouted.

“Evelyn, there are consequences for such disrespect towards your King,” Klaus growled.

“I’m a dead woman regardless, Klaus. So I might as well make my granddaughter’s life better. If Blake doesn’t accept my offer, then I will not lift the suppressant from Rosy. Take it or leave it” Evelyn was determined.

“Klaus there must be another way?!” Blake snapped.

I sunk back into my seat, trying to wrap my head around what was happening. My heart ached at the thought of losing Blake. The last few months had taken so much from me; I couldn’t bear to lose one more person.

“Sorry, King Cooper. But the kind of suppressant Rosy has can only be lifted by the witch that cast it” Klaus hung his head.

“Grandma, why are you taking Cynthia’s side? She’s a spoiled brat, and you know that. She can have any guy she wants. Separating Blake and Rosy will bring unbalance to the way of life. You, a protector of the way of life, can not participate in causing the unbalance. I will not let you and Cynthia ruin another life.” Mia yelled.

“I have already caused the unbalance by placing a suppressant on Rosy. She was meant to bring balance, Mia. Her existence is so that she can take her mother’s birthright. By suppressing her wolf, I stopped her from taking that birthright.”

“Eve-.....” Kendyl started.

“STOP!” I screamed. My head was pounding, and I couldn’t stand the bickering anymore.

“I think I have the right to decide what should or shouldn’t happen. It’s my body and my fiance,” I interrupted.

“Rosy, you will die if she doesn’t lift the spell.” Rocky finally spoke from behind me, gently squeezing my shoulder. I could hear the fear in his voice.

“I know, Rocky. But I will die regardless. As Evelyn said, whatever mum was running from, it will catch up to me at some point, whether it’s the suppressant that kills me or my mother’s perilous past. I will die. Now, I can choose to die in the arms of the man I love, or I can be all sad and alone, waiting for whatever evil is coming my way.” I croaked, my voice breaking in certain places.

I stood up on my wobbly legs. Blake immediately wrapped his arms around me for support. I smiled up at him. Blake’s glassy angry eyes were filled with concern. Yet, swimming between that concern was the love and admiration he had for me.

I reached out and cupped his face, stroked his cheek with my thumb. He leaned into my touch and closed his eyes, a low growl vibrating through his chest.

At that moment, I had made up my mind. There was no way I was going to let someone else’s stupidity ruin my life.

I turned away from Blake and looked at the old lady and her goddess of a granddaughter.

“Evelyn, thank you for telling me about my history. You risked your life to keep my mother and me safe, and I will be forever grateful for that. Until now, I had thought my biggest problem in life was my mother’s promiscuous career. I was so ashamed of it and thought that the worse life could get. But now I see how wrong I was. Death is knocking on my door, and my life is filled with pretentious assholes. What’s the worst that can happen now, right?” I chuckled as a tear slid down my cheek. I was terrified on the inside and trying to downplay everything.

“Angel..” Blake objected, and I stopped him.

“I haven’t finished yet, Blakey” I smiled at him and wiped my tears away. “However, I’m not going to let the fear of death control my life. I have so many good things happening for me right now, and I would like to enjoy every bit of it up until death consumes me. So, thank you for your generous offer, but Blake is mine, and I will not let some stuck-up slut take him away from me. I understand you trying to make your granddaughter’s life better, but she’s lived a very happy and joyous life. Getting whatever she wants on a silver platter. But I, on the other hand, have been to hell and back. I think I’m more deserving of a wonderful man like Blake.” I looked up at Blake, and my heart pinched a little at the big smile he had on his face.

He grabbed my face and pulled me into a long passionate kiss. His free arm still wrapped around me tightly, holding me in place.

By the time we pulled away, my lungs were burning.

Blake cupped my face with both his hands and looked me dead in the eyes.

“I love you so much, Angel. You are my world and I promise you, I will find a way to get you out of this even if I have to sell my soul to the devil. Because if your heart stops beating, then so will mine.”

Cynthia’s snort echoed through the gazebo.

“I hope your bitch dies a painful death and then rots in hell.” she flipped her hair and stormed away, cursing Blake and me as she stormed away.

Evelyn watched Cynthia disappear into the house before standing up and clearing her throat. “I hope you’ve thought this through, Rosy. A decaying body can be very painful.”

“We will help her manage that pain. You do not have to worry yourself anymore, Evelyn.” Kendyl spoke, standing up and straightening her dress.

Benji, Sara, and Elijah stood up with her and nodded in agreement.

“Very well. Mia, I’m guessing you too will be helping our doomed Luna?” Evelyn turned to her granddaughter.

“Yes, Grandma, I will. I have a responsibility that I vowed to honor. If my Luna needs me, I will stand by her.” Mia sighed and walked over to stand next to Kendyl.

Evelyn nodded and turned towards me. “I wish you the very best. I hope you understand the repercussions of the decision you’ve made. Use whatever time you have left wisely.”

She gave me one last look before turning to walk away.

“Please show yourself out, Klaus,” she called over her shoulder as she disappeared into the house.

I noticed The Coven members exchanged a look before we started to move.

We all headed around the side of the house and out a back gate that led us out to our cars. Before getting into their cars, The Coven members stopped in front of their vehicles.

“King Cooper, I’m really sorry about this. I didn’t know the depth of this situation. As much as we can’t help you lift the suppressant, we can help lessen Luna’s pain and hopefully heal whatever part of her decays to extend her life a little.” you could hear the disappointment in Klaus’s voice.

“Thank you, Klaus. We would appreciate that. Although there must be another way? There has to be” Blake looked down at me; he looked tired and sad.

“If there is a way, we will find it. I will help The Coven find it.” Rocky added. I turned to find him wiping his wet eyes.

“I will not lose my sister. There has to be another way.”

I smiled at Rocky, “I’m happy you all want to help keep me alive, but I really just want to enjoy the time I have left. Klaus, is there any way to predict how long I have?”

“No, Luna. It all depends on how strong your immune system is. Your body won’t be able to fight for very long, but we can help you increase your immunity, and that will help possibly slow down the process,” he explained.

“Hang on. Luna has pure werewolf blood running through her veins.” Benji stated.

“So?” Everyone turned towards him, and he reddened a little, obviously not liking the attention.

“S-.. so.. Umm... What if we wake her wolf spirit?” Benji stuttered.

Mia placed her hand on Benji’s shoulder and nodded, encouraging him to explain himself further.

He took a deep breath before continuing, “When a werewolf child is born, their wolf spirit is born with them. The spirit gives the child strength and helps them prepare for the day they first transform. During their first transformation, the spirit connects itself to their wolf form, and therefore the birth of the wolf happens. King Cooper and Max are prime examples. They shared a spirit, and the spirit prepared them both for the transformation; however, when the time came to birth the wolf, the birthright Blake had claimed the spirit; therefore only Blake could birth the wolf.”

Everyone looked at Benji like he was explaining the most obvious thing. I, on the other hand, was starting to understand the mechanics of this whole werewolf thing.

“If you think about it, Luna never got to experience her wolf spirit. The suppressant stopped her wolf spirit from being born, essentially making it dormant. So as she grew up, she never got to gain the strength and abilities a wolf spirit provides. I wouldn’t be surprised if her spirit doesn’t even know it’s dormant because it never got to see the light. If we could wake the spirit enough to get her attention, it might start working on Luna’s body and provide her with the vitality and stamina she needs to cope with the decaying. She has a strong bloodline which means she will have a strong wolf spirit. Once the spirit starts to inhabit Luna’s body, it may even heal the parts the decaying destroys.” Benji looked around at everyone.

Every member of The Coven had the look of surprise plastered on their face.

“Why the fuck didn’t you say that before?!” Elijah finally blurted.

“Umm.. well... We didn’t know Luna’s heritage before. It only just occurred to me,” Benji stammered, shrugging his shoulders.

Mia hugged him, placing a kiss on his cheek.

“See, you are full of great ideas,” she laughed.

Benji blushed and quickly stepped away from Mia’s embrace.

“Okay, so how do we wake up Rosy’s wolf spirit?” Rocky asked, bouncing in his spot from excitement.

It was the first breakthrough we had.

“It’s a long shot, though. Whether it’s going to work or not is yet to be determined. So don’t get your hopes up,” Klaus explained.

“Klaus is right. We have to take every step carefully. Any ideas on how we can wake her spirit?” Blake squeezed my shoulder as he looked at all the members.

Even though he was being practical, I could feel the excitement oozing off him.

“Mate!” bawled Elijah.

“I mean that you and Luna haven’t finished your mating yet. That is a good way of waking her spirit” Elijah cleared his throat and spoke in a more appropriate tone.

Klaus narrowed his eyes and clicked his tongue at Elijah.

I blushed at the thought of everyone talking about mating so casually. Blake and I still hadn’t talked about when we wanted to complete the process. He had said that we should wait until I was ready, but I guess if that’s what needed to be done for a chance to save my life, then I was all for it.

“It is an excellent idea; however, the full moon is still a week away. We can’t wait that long.” Blake ran his free hand through his hair in frustration.

“I may have a way, but you won’t like it,” Benji muttered, scratching the back of his neck.

“You’re full of good ideas today, aren’t you.” Elijah snickered.

“Benji, what’s your idea??” Klaus demanded.

“Well.. umm... My grandfather once told me that using magic to mess with an unwoken spirit could be lethal. Unwoken spirits are feral. However, there are witches and warlocks out there that have successfully meddled with feral wolf spirits using dark magic.” Benji swallowed loudly.

Where was he going with this? Wasn’t dark magic how I got into this trouble in the first place?

“Do you have someone in mind that can help us?” Blake asked.

Benji nodded and gave Klaus a nervous glance.

“Who?” Klaus’s voice was louder than necessary.

Benji lowered his gaze and started fiddling with a ring he had on.

“Max,” he whispered.
