Darkroom

Chapter 68: Dark room

Kayla's pov

As I heard the footsteps approaching, I became aware of my surroundings once again. I could feel the rough fabric of the blindfold against my skin, the hard ground beneath me, the cool air around me. My sense of touch brought me back to reality, and I was once again in the unfamiliar room, a prisoner of unknown forces. The footsteps grew louder, and I felt a rush of fear course through my body. What was going to happen next?

The door creaked open, and the footsteps grew louder and louder. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest, my body tense with fear. Then I felt a strong hand grasp my shoulder and push me against the wall. I struggled to breathe, my senses on high alert.

As the blindfold was removed, I blinked, my eyes adjusting to the light. I saw that I was in a small, dank room with peeling paint on the walls and a damp floor. I looked at the food that was placed in front of me, and it was a sorry sight. It was a bowl of cold, congealed rice and a small piece of stale bread. It looked like something that would be given to beggars on the street, not fit for human consumption. I felt my stomach turn at the sight of it.

Even though I was hungry, I couldn't bring myself to eat the food that was before me. The thought of putting it in my mouth made me feel sick. It looked and smelled like it had been sitting there for days, and the thought of ingesting it made my stomach turn. The more I looked at it, the more it reminded me of the days when I was caring for my three children on my own. I had struggled to provide for them, and the food we had eaten had been barely fit for human consumption. But I had done it out of necessity, to keep them alive.

The voice was insistent, almost hysterical. "Eat! You must eat!" it said, its tone harsh and demanding. But I couldn't bring myself to do it. The food was so unappetizing, and the thought of eating it made me feel nauseous. "No, I can't do it," I said, my voice weak. "I'm not hungry. I don't want to eat this." The voice became even more agitated. "You have to eat! You have to keep your strength up!" it said, sounding desperate.

The man left the room, leaving me alone with my thoughts and the wretched smell of the room. I felt a surge of fear, not knowing what would happen next. I tried to control my breathing, to remain calm in the face of the unknown. But the fear was overwhelming, and I felt like I was suffocating. I tried to focus on something, anything, to distract myself from the panic that was rising within me. But it was no use. The room was closing in on me, and I felt like I was losing control.

"Kids, please go to your rooms and clean up," I said in a firm but gentle voice. "Nothing like that will ever happen again. I promise." My children looked at me with wide eyes, fear and confusion evident in their faces. But they obeyed, walking slowly out of the room. I turned to my mother. "Mom, where is Kayla?" I asked, my voice shaking. "She's in the kitchen," my mother replied, her tone reassuring. "She'll be back soon." I nodded, trying to believe her words. But my heart was still racing, and my mind was reeling.

"I'm so relieved that the children are safe," I said, my voice quavering. "Thank you, Mom." I turned to go to the kitchen, needing to make sure Kayla was all right. I opened the door to the kitchen, my heart pounding in my chest. But the kitchen was empty, no sign of Kayla anywhere. I felt a wave of panic wash over me. "Kayla?" I called out, my voice shaking. But there was no response.

As I looked around the kitchen, I saw something out of the corner of my eye. A glass cup was lying shattered on the ground, shards of glass scattered around it. I felt my heart skip a beat. Where was Kayla? I searched the room again, frantically, but there was no sign of her. I felt my knees start to give out, and I grabbed onto the counter for support. "Kayla!" I called out again, my voice barely above a whisper. But there was still no answer.

I rushed out of the kitchen, my heart pounding in my chest. I found my mother and the servants in the living room, and I burst into the room, out of breath. "I can't find Killer!" I said, my words tumbling out in a jumble. "She's not in the kitchen. I looked everywhere, but I can't find her!" I was starting to panic, my mind racing with fear. My mother and the servants looked at me with concern. "Calm down, my dear," my mother said, her voice soothing. "We will help you look for her."

I followed my senses, my heightened abilities allowing me to follow the scent of Killer out of the kitchen and through the back door. I stepped outside, the night air cool and damp. I could see the full moon shining overhead, casting shadows across the ground. I followed the scent, trying to ignore the fear that was building inside me. I had to find Kayla, had to make sure she was okay. But the fear was beginning to cloud me, making it hard to focus.

I walked deeper into the night, I was both scared and eager to find her, I couldn't why let anything happen to her, and I was determined to find her

I walk deeper and deeper and soon as I was in the woods, I could it hard to scent her, it was difficult because of the scent of the woods and nature filling the air
