Alpha's Revenge
“Are the two of you mates?” asks Beta Dylan and the question startles me.
“No.” I say at the same time that Fredrick says, “I don’t know.” We look at each other and then back at the Beta.
“What I mean is that I haven’t turned 21 yet so I don’t know.” I say quickly.
“I was just curious because of the way the two of you act around each other. Neither of you notice that you’re even doing it and that’s what makes it even better.” says Dylan.
“What do you mean?” I asked him.
“Well, for instance, he automatically jumps in to make sure I know exactly what you mean and with the water. I asked if both of you would like something, but you said no, while he said yes and then he gave the bottle to you. You were thirsty and he knew that you wouldn’t ask so he did for you without you communicating your need. As for you, anytime you’re uncomfortable, you lean into him or touch him in some way and he tightens his grip on you. I’m sure that the two of you are mates and if not, then you should be.” He smiles at us.
“I’m hoping that she is truth be told.” says Fredrick. I look up at him to see him staring at me with a small smile on his lips. He looks so handsome and I find myself hoping that he is my mate as well.
“Looks as though both of you are hoping for the same thing. I wish both of you well and hope that the Goddess blesses you. Finding your mate is a wonderful thing and I was lucky enough to find her as soon as I turned 18. Ranked Lycans find their mates earlier so I had to wait until she was 18, which was the longest year of my life. She’s an Omega and a wolf not a Lycan. Okay, we should get down to why you’re both here. You said you’d explain everything, so I will let both of you speak and then go from there.”
“Your mate is an Omega?” I say instead of talking about what we’re here for and instantly cover my mouth, but he doesn’t seem mad or irritated.
“Yes. She’s now the Beta female though so her status is elevated but you’d never tell that she was an Omega from birth. That woman is a force to be reckoned with on and off the battlefield.”
“She can fight too? Wow. I mean under our previous Alpha we were allowed to train and I was pretty good, but with our new leader all Omegas were told that we couldn’t train anymore and are practically slaves.”
“What do you mean previous leader and being slaves?” He sat up straighter in his seat and he didn’t look happy about what I’d just said. Automatically I thought he was upset that I had spoken badly about an Alpha. I quickly looked at Fredrick and he grabbed my hand and gave it a gentle squeeze before he looked at Beta Dylan.
“We should start from the beginning Beta. I can only tell you from the night of the attack what happened in that pack and what happened after I went back, but she’ll have to tell you the middle as I was no longer there.”
“Okay.” is all he said before steepling his hands in front of him.
Fredrick told him what happened the night of the attack and how he and some warriors ran after some rogue wolves to end them, but that it was a set up. The warriors that went with him, well some of them, were in on the murder with the Beta and they tried to kill him. Being the great fighter that he was, he was able to kill most of them and the rogues with the help of the warriors that weren’t against our Alpha. They went with him to his new pack.
After he finished his story, all eyes were on me, so I took a deep breath and launched into my part of this tale. When I started talking, I first told him how things were with our Alpha and then skipped ahead to the night we were attacked and our Alpha was killed. I told him about how the Beta told us point blank that he killed him and would kill the rest of us if we didn’t bow to him as our new Alpha. I told of how furious he was that he couldn’t find Reigna, but he seemed to calm when she showed up later just to go back into a rage when she wouldn’t voluntarily give him the alpha title, and how he got even more enraged when she wouldn’t hand over the companies. When it was time to talk about what the rogues had done to me and some of the other Omegas, I couldn’t speak. Thankfully, Fredrick noticed my hesitation and spoke up for me.
“Beta Dylan, this part is hard for her to talk about but I feel you need to know everything and so does the King if you’re going to help us. The Beta of the pack knows that he can’t do anything to Reigna and he allowed the rogues that he brought into the pack to take their frustration about not getting paid yet out on pack members. In some cases...” I looked over at him when he stopped speaking and saw his eyes were pitch black and was gripping the arm of the chair so tight that his knuckles had turned white. His wolf was present and this isn’t good. Instinctively I put my hand on top of his and slowly starting rubbing circles. He visibly started to relax and I saw his eyes flickering between his wolf and his normal eye color.
