CHAPTER 10
BLAIR
I narrowed my gaze to be sure I was seeing the right person and that my eyes weren't deceiving me. It was Ronan, leaning against his bike with that familiar lazy smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
I wasted no time rushing out of the room. Taking the stairs two at a time, I hurried down as fast as my legs could carry me. My heart raced against my chest.
R-Ronan?......I couldn't help but whisper his name as I raced down.
He's the only person I'm excited to see in this pack.
By the time I reached downstairs, my breath came out in fast bursts. I hesitated for just a second before my hands flew to the handle, and I yanked the door open.
Once Ronan saw me, his expression softened, and our eyes met. I bolted on my heels and rushed into his arms.
Ronan hugged me tightly, my arms wrapping around him, even if they couldn't fully cover his body like his own did mine. For a few moments, we stayed that way, enjoying the comfort we gave each other while I inhaled his scent. Nothing had changed; Ronan still smelled the best in the whole pack.
His cologne is something that can't be replicated, which is why every girl flocks to his side, but he's always so cold.
Ronan didn’t unwrap his hands from my body, and I didn’t for a few minutes. It’s been six years; I miss him so much. I miss the way he looks out for me, how he always walks me back home after school just to ensure none of the mean girls bully me.
After a few more minutes, Ronan finally let me go. Once he did, he stepped back, his eyes sweeping over me. He took three strides forward and cupped my face in his hands. “I miss you…” he whispered softly.
I nodded. “I know… I miss you too,” I said, my eyes locked on his face. Not much had changed about Ronan; he was still that cute kid everyone wanted. His jaw was sharp—you'd think it could cut glass—his face a carefully sculpted demigod, and his mustache that dragged from the sides of his cheeks down to his jaw made him even more attractive. I couldn't help but take in his attire: the black leather vest that clung to his body, the blue bandana scarf tied over his head, his hands covered in black gloves, and his high, big boots.
That told me everything I needed to know,he had achieved his dream of becoming a biker, just as he had always wanted. How time flies—six years down the line, and he has become what he always wanted to be. And six years down the line again, I have achieved what I always wanted to be…the most sought-after attorney in the four werewolf states.
“Did he hurt you?” Ronan asked, his eyes fixed on me, and I blinked away.
I wasn't sure who he was talking about: Dominus Jones or his brother Darius Sinclair?
Both of them have one thing in common, they have both broken me. So yes, they hurt me, but it’s not his place to know.
I shook my head quickly, blinking back the sting of tears. “No, I’m fine… I just need to get out of here.”
“Then let’s go,” he said fiercely, without hesitation. He wasted no time giving me a helmet to wear.
When I wasn’t putting it on the right way, he helped me adjust it, and then I climbed onto the bike.
The rumble of the engine filled the silence between us as he told me to get on.
“Trust me?” he asked, his voice almost lost beneath the growl of the machine.
I met his eyes, my pulse still racing. It would be my first time riding a bike, but I trusted him and hopped onto his chopper.
I slipped onto the bike behind him and wrapped my arms around his waist, holding tight as he gunned the throttle. Together, we disappeared down the road, leaving the Alpha's suite and everything it represented behind.
In a few minutes, we hit the open road, and the wind blew past us. I slowly closed my eyes, my face pressed against his back as he rode—hell, I didn’t even know where we were going.
The wind lashed against my face, sharp and cold, but all I could feel was him, Ronan. His back shielded my cheeks. Each rumble of the bike vibrated through my body, sinking deep into my bones.
As he kept driving, my arms tightened around his waist.
The world blurred into streaks of gray and silver as we cut through the road. For the first time in a long time, I wasn’t running from something; I felt comfort, and I got that kid feeling again.
Though the scent of the air felt like freedom—I can't fully explain it, but that's how I felt right now.
Ronan slowed the bike after a long stretch of road, the roar of the engine fading into a low hum. When he finally stopped, I lifted my head, blinking against the glare of the fading sun… and my breath caught.
Our old playground. He brought me to our old playground. We used to come here alone and write our names both in the sand and on the walls. I hadn’t been here in years—not since we were kids, chasing each other barefoot through the grass.
I climbed off the bike slowly, my legs trembling—not from fear this time, but from the flood of memories crashing through me. The air was warm, soft, and sweet with nostalgia.
Ronan leaned against his bike, watching me quietly. He didn’t have to say anything; he knew exactly what this place meant.
For the first time in years, I let myself smile—a real one. The kind that reached my eyes.
Finally, he got off the bike and parked it.
“Remember this place?” he asked with a soft smile.
I chuckled, my eyes still gazing around. “Of course I do.”
There was an odd silence that followed, but I didn't pay it much attention.
Guess we're both carried away with nostalgia.
“Of course, this is where we used to come to play and hide,” I turned to him. “Most of the time we’d come over here to work on our joint school projects.”
“Yes…” Ronan swallowed hard. “And it’s also where I begged you to come that night.”
“Why didn’t you show up?” His gaze burned into my skin. “I waited, you know…”
“I thought you were going to show up before the rain, so I stayed waiting for you. When you didn't arrive, I stayed in the rain, hoping something was keeping you. But then you still didn’t show up, and I waited, thinking the rain might have been what stopped you, until I heard you’d left for the Nightshade pack.”
My breath caught in my throat, and my eyes grew wet immediately.
I couldn't help it,I looked away. I couldn't look at him.
Sniffling, I turned to him. “That doesn't mean anything now… does it?”
He stepped forward instantly. “Of course it does. It's not too late, we can leave now!”
