Chapter 81 81
Maisie's Pov
Xavier drove me to the company where he gave a light kiss on the cheek before leaving with Roman. I still remember our kiss from earlier and my cheeks burned. I quickly schooled my expression and entered my private elevator. When I arrived at the top floor, a familiar gentleman was waiting for me.
“Gamma Teshan, what a lovely surprise.” I smiled as I reached for him.
“Indeed it is.” He gave me a knowing smile and gestured to my office.
I nodded. “Shall we?”
I pushed the door in. Clyde and Emma were already waiting. Emma took my coat while Clyde unzipped my bag and whipped out my laptop.
“So,” I said as I sat on the sofa in the middle of the room.
He passed a brown folder to me. “Shakan said you asked him for a personal request. Your answer's in there.”
That's when I remembered. I'd asked Shakan to find out if Gavin was alive or not. The answers were in here.
“Go ahead.” Teshan said with a shrug.
My brows rose. Was he teasing me? How old was this kid again? 17?
I lifted my chin as a pleasant “fuck you” to him and reached for the paper knife. Before I could cut it open, Clyde snatched it from my grip.
“I'll do it, ma'am,” he glared at Teshan. “It could be anthrax.”
Emma, his twin, piped up. “Or the Red Howl.”
I scoffed. These two…
Clyde opened the folder and whipped out a few pictures. His eyes widened and a gasping shock escaped him.
Teshan grinned. “I know, right? Alpha Xavier might be an idiot but he can be a very dangerous man when he wants to.”
“Let me see.” I told Clyde.
He pushed it out of my reach and Shok his head.
Emma sighed. “Just give it to your boss, man.”
“Look at it.” He shoved it in her face, his jaws clenched.
Emma peered at the paper for a few seconds and she cupped her hand over her mouth. “I think I'm gonna be sick.”
Their reactions only increased my security and I took the paper from Emma.
What I saw next was nothing I expected.
Severed and brutalized beyond recognition was the former Beta of the BlackRock Pack, Gavin Glory. His body… whatever was left of him was dissected like a meat displayed at the local market. Whoever did this to him was a devil.
“Xavier did it.” Teshan said with a grin. “Wicked, isn't it?”
I cupped a hand over my mouth. “Did his wife know?”
Teshan chuckled. “If she did, she would've done worse than just scratch your arm. No, she didn't. His bloodied uniform was returned to her.”
“Damn.” Emma said, colour returning to her face but Clyde was still shaken. I was surprised. I thought he'd be unshaken by this.
Teshan rose to his feet and smiled. “That's why you have to be careful around Xavier. He is foolish in general but deep down, he's a terrible beast. I hope you know what you're doing.”
Those words again…
I clenched my fists at my side and hung my head, my body trembling with rage. “I hope I know what I'm doing?”
I lifted my chin and met his gaze with heated anger. “I know what I'm doing!”
I didn't realize when I rose to my feet, grabbed his collar and squeezed hard. “That bastard killed my daughter when he could've saved her. When she died, he blamed me for her death. He told everyone in the pack that I was a terrible woman. He made sure every good record of mine was wiped away from the pack! He erased me and my daughter! I would do the same for him and if dying with him is the only way, I'd gladly lay down my life as long as he dies a gruesome death!”
“Maisie!” I heard someone yell my name.
When I blinked, tears not only rolled down my eyes but I could see clearly now. Sharp nails had protruded from my nails and were stabbing either sides of Teshan’s neck. Blood softly trickled down his neck but he didn't look bothered. Instead, he smirked. He looked impressed.
I dropped my hands and pulled away like I'd been electrified.
“I… I'm sorry.” I mumbled.
“It's alright,” Teshan's smile widened, not bothering to tend to the injury I inflicted on him. “Brother Shakan was right. You're a very powerful wolf, Maisie.”
I smiled at the compliment. “Thank you.”
“Good.” He nodded and turned to Clyde. “Please, help me with this.”
“Oh sure.” he blinked and followed Teshan out of the office.
Emma passed me a kerchief. “Damn, boss. You nearly killed him.”
I wiped my hands. “He crossed the line.”
“He wasn't wrong,” she sat on the centre table in front of me. “Alpha Xavier is dangerous.”
“And yet I survived 5 years of marriage with him.” I said proudly.
“That counts.” She smiled. “You're a survivor, Maisie. I really envy you.”
“I understand but be better than I am,” I clapped her shoulder. “I'm burdened with revenge. I don't think that's something to be envious about.”
Emma pouted. “That's not it. I mean… you're…”
A soft knock on the door interrupted us and we both turned to the door.
“Come in.” I said, already rising to my feet.
The door creaked softly and a tall gentleman.
For a moment, I thought I'd never see those tattoos again or that brown hair and eyes. Tyler entered the office, the door behind him still ajar.
“Oh, I forgot one more thing,” Teshan appeared behind him, one hand on his shoulder. “Brother Shakan mentioned we had a spy working for us, right?”
I looked at Tyler, already knowing the answer.
“This is Alan Jackson, also known as Tyler.” Teshan smiled. “He's our…”
“...spy,” I completed for him.
Tyler… Alan couldn't meet my eyes. He looked at his feet and stuffed his hands in his pockets. Was he terrified?
“Tyler?” I called him by his undercover name.
He met my gaze this time, not.looking away.
I smiled. “I'm glad you were the spy.”
He tilted his head, confused. “Sorry?”
I smiled. “I'm glad you were the spy. It kinda makes sense now.”
Tyler mouthed to Emma. “Did she hit her head?”
Emma shrugged.
I chuckled. “It's fine. You're in on the plan, right?”
Tyler nodded. “Of course, ma'am. We have everything ready.”
“So you know the final phase of the plan is the Wedding Ceremony?” I raised a brow.
He grinned. “Of course. I can't wait.”
“Good.” I turned to Teshan. He was alone. That's odd. “Where's Clyde?”
“Don't worry. I've got him.” He smiled.
I did trust that smile but I trusted Clyde to be able to take care of himself so I didn't pry further.
I turned to my team and briefed them of the final plan and how everything would soon be over.
When the meeting was over, I picked up a picture of Aria and smiled. “You'll finally be at rest soon.”
