Chapter 13 13
Maisie's Pov
3 years later,
The powerful winter tires of black McLaren screeched to a halt in the underground parking lot of the MW Corp building.
The soft click of a door unlocking filled the air as the driver stepped out of his seat and asked around to open the door to mine.
“Welcome back, Madam.” he greeted with a smile.
“Thank you, Oliver.” I greeted back as I took off the large sunglasses shielding my eyes.
Three years had passed since my life had been ripped apart. I had suffered an irreplaceable loss and a pain that cut so deep but instead of cowering like most people would, I turned my pain into power.
The woman who had once worn her heart on her sleeve and had been too naïve was gone for good and now, in her place stood the new Maisie Williams, a boss in her own right.
Following me out of the car was one of the people I'd grown to love and trust — my new best friend and Secretary, Emma. She was in her usual tailored Italian suit and wore a big smile.
I strode into the towering glass building, my heels clicking on the marble floor as she followed behind me.
We took the private elevator straight to the top floor, and we arrived at the CEO’s office where Executive CEO Clyde Monroe had been waiting.
When he saw us enter, he greeted us both with a smile. “Welcome back, boss. Nice to see you again, Emma.”
“Thanks for holding things down for me, Clyde.” I said with a smile of my own and settled down behind my desk.
No one knew I was the real CEO of MW CORP. They all thought it was Clyde but he was one of my subordinates who managed the business on my behalf.
“Clyde, I missed you so much, big bro” Emma, smiling sweetly, walked into his embrace. I forgot to add that they were twins.
“I missed your cooking, sis, not you.” Clyde said, clearly uninterested in any of his sister's hugs.
Emma glared at him. “So after all these years, you missed my cooking and not miss me?”
“Yes.” Clyde answered dryly.
“Boss!” Emma turned to me for help and I couldn't help but laugh.
Clyde was like that. He and Emma were identical but they had very different personalities.
Clyde passed an iPad to me, getting down to business immediately.
“Dominion Industries is slowly liquidating. Desperate to keep the business afloat, Alpha Xavier has resulted in selling most of his company shares.”
“Give the instructions to buy as many shares as you can. I want to top the list by the end of the week.” I said.
“Yes, ma'am.” Clyde and Emma answered as they scribbled in their notebooks.
I folded my hands under my chin and looked over the info in the iPad. Back when I was Luna of the BlackRock Pack, I would help Xavier with innovative ideas that'll profit the company but in my absence, he brought it to the brink of financial ruin. I won't let it crash and burn. Not on my watch. I'll reclaim it all.
“Apparently, Kylie was chosen by the Elders to become Luna of the BlackRock Pack while her fake son was crowned Xavier's heir.”
I chuckled softly. So Xavier still chose her after all. That's his loss.
I tucked away that information for later and asked. “Did you find anything else?”
“Oh yes. Roman is currently in Dominion Industries.”
After reading the contents, I slapped the file shut and pushed back my seat. “Prepare the car. We're going to pay Xavier a visit.”
I wasn't going there to settle old scores. I was going to take back what was mine.
The car stopped in front of the towering glass building of Dominion Industries and I stepped out of the car. I was a bit surprised when I looked at the building. It looked more polished than it had been. For a company about to fold, Xavier still spent millions on maintaining its extravagant look.
As I approached the entrance, I barely glanced at the guards on standby.
When I walked past, I was stopped by two security guards.
“You're a new face.” one of them said, his voice laced with uncertainty as he studied me.
Clearly, he didn't recognize me.
I allowed myself a small smile, though it didn't reach my eyes. “Correct.”
“Who the hell are you?” the second one snarled.
“Someone you can't afford to offend!” I grinned at him.
Both men scoffed at my confident retort. “Don't be ridiculous. This is a private property. Unauthorized people aren't allowed in here. Get the —”
The rest of his words muffled into a soft groan. The guard stood frozen, his face contorting in pain while the other one stood frozen, his jaws dropped in horror as he wondered what happened to his partner. I had smacked the guard so hard in the throat, he lost his vocals. It's only temporary though.
My lips curled into an emotionless grin as I stared at their pitiful form. “Want to try again?”
The guard shook his head frantically, daring not to utter a single word.
I gave the word to Clyde and we approached the receptionist who was shaking like a leaf. I barely glanced at the startled young woman as Clyde spoke to her.
“M - Mr. Monroe, what a surprise,” the receptionist almost stammered, clearly intimidated.
“Indeed,” Clyde’s voice was smooth but it lacked any emotion. He leaned in and whispered something I didn't hear to the receptionist and the woman pushed back her seat.
“This way, please.” She said,
“Thank you.” He smiled and gestured to me to follow him.
“What did you tell her that got her so scared?” I asked, intrigued.
“I told her she'll never find a job anywhere on earth if she doesn't let us in and she agreed like a lamb.” He grinned.
“You're so cruel.” I stifled a laugh as we made our way to the boardroom.
Inside the boardroom, the air was thick with tension.
The board members sat in uneasy silence not bothering to hide the worried looks on their faces and one of them was Xavier.
Xavier's once charming smile had faded into a nervous grimace over the past year. Under his mismanagement, the company had faltered and was on the brink of financial ruin but that would end soon.
