# Chapter 160

# Chapter 160
Kira's POV

I limped through the sliding glass doors of Rebecca's high-tech laboratory, my body screaming for rest. Every muscle ached from our narrow escape from the collapsing facility, but I couldn't stop now. The encrypted drive we'd recovered might be our only chance to save Kim and stop Ethan.

"You should be resting," Andy said, materializing beside me with a steaming cup of coffee.

"No time," I muttered, accepting the cup gratefully. The bitter liquid burned my throat, but I welcomed the jolt of caffeine. My injured arm throbbed beneath its bandage, but I ignored it, scanning the transformed space around me.

The lab had been converted into a command center, with teams working at different stations. On one side, medical personnel monitored Kim's condition through observation windows. On the other, tech specialists huddled around multiple screens displaying code fragments. Rebecca and Rocco stood at the main computer terminal, their faces illuminated by the blue glow of the monitor.

I approached them, wincing as my bruised ribs protested. "Any progress with the decryption?"

Rebecca sighed, rubbing her reddened eyes. "This encryption system is incredibly complex. It's using multiple algorithms layered over each other."

"That's Lyra's style," Rocco added, his voice tight. "She always created multiple layers of protection, even for her childhood diaries."

I stared at the scrolling code on the screen. "How long until we crack it?"

Rebecca shook her head. "Impossible to say. Could be hours, could be days."

"Maybe we could try getting more information from Kim?" Andy suggested, coming to stand beside me. "If Lyra's consciousness is in her brain, some of her memories might be accessible."

Rocco's jaw tightened. "Too risky. We don't know how that might affect Kim."

I glanced toward the medical bay, where Kim lay surrounded by equipment. "I'll see how she's doing. Maybe there's something we can learn."

My legs felt heavy as I walked across the lab. Through the observation window, I could see Kim lying motionless on a hospital bed, connected to various monitoring devices. Her face was unnaturally pale, but peaceful for the moment. Vanessa sat beside her, looking exhausted.

The lead doctor approached me. "We've administered specialized suppressants to temporarily subdue Lyra's consciousness. It's giving Kim a chance to regain some control, but it's just a stopgap measure."

I studied the brain activity monitor, noticing two distinct wave patterns alternating on the screen. "Two consciousnesses fighting for control?"

"Exactly," the doctor nodded grimly. "And this battle can't continue indefinitely without causing permanent damage."

I hesitated at the door, unsure if I should enter. Vanessa looked up, noticing me, and gestured for me to come in.

"She asked for you," she said quietly. "Kim, not Lyra."

My heart skipped a beat as I carefully entered the room. "Can she hear us?"

The doctor adjusted some settings on a monitor. "Kim's consciousness is dominant right now, but it's unstable. Lyra could resurface at any moment."

I approached the bed slowly and took Kim's hand in mine. It felt cold and fragile. "Hey, Kim. I don't know if you can hear me..."

Her eyelids fluttered, then opened. Blue eyes—identical to mine—struggled to focus on my face. "Kira... you're really... here..."

A lump formed in my throat. This was the first time I was truly speaking with my twin sister, without Lyra's interference or the baggage of misunderstandings.

"Being controlled... is agony," Kim whispered, her voice barely audible. "Like being... trapped in your own body... watching someone else use it... unable to stop them."

"Can you sense her thoughts? Her plans?" I asked gently.

Kim nodded weakly. "Their plan... is more extensive... than you imagine. Ethan has... multiple secret facilities." Her eyes suddenly widened with alarm. "She's coming back... I can feel her... pushing... trying to regain control..."

The doctor glanced at the monitor with concern. "Lyra's brain activity is increasing. We don't have much time."

"The data drive," I said urgently. "Do you know how to decrypt it?"

Kim's eyes flickered with intelligence. "Ethan's... encryption system... uses a special sequence..."

"What sequence?" I leaned closer.

She struggled to concentrate. "He calls it... the Genesis Code... connected to Lyra's birthday and... date of death..."

Vanessa watched the monitors anxiously. "Her heart rate is rising."

Kim suddenly gripped my hand with surprising strength. "One more thing... Northern Lake District... second laboratory... he'll go there..."

Then her expression contorted, her voice transforming into something harsh and alien. "You'll never stop us!"

Kim's body began convulsing violently. I stumbled backward as medical staff rushed forward.

"Increase the suppressant dosage!" the doctor ordered.

I watched helplessly as my sister's body writhed, her face shifting between expressions—sometimes Kim's, sometimes a stranger's. Her eyes flashed between clarity and malice.

After several agonizing minutes, Kim's body finally stilled, sedated into unconsciousness. The medical team stabilized her vitals.

"This dual-consciousness state can't continue long-term," the lead doctor warned. "The mental battle is causing neurological damage. We need to find a way to separate them soon."

I nodded, feeling a renewed sense of urgency. "Thank you. I need to get this information to the decryption team."

I hurried back to the main computer station. "I have a lead," I announced. "The Genesis Code, connected to Lyra's birthday and death date."

Rocco looked up sharply. "The Genesis Code... that was a cipher system Lyra and I created as children."

Rebecca immediately began typing new parameters. "This could be our breakthrough. We need the exact dates."

Rocco provided the information, and Rebecca's fingers flew across the keyboard. On the screen, the progress bar suddenly accelerated.

"Decryption process accelerating," she reported, excitement creeping into her voice. "It's working!"

Suddenly, the screen populated with file directories. "We're in!" Rebecca exclaimed.

We quickly began sorting through the decrypted files—research data, experiment logs, and planning documents. The sheer volume was overwhelming.

"Look at this," Rebecca pointed to a folder labeled "Consciousness Transfer Protocol." "It contains complete theoretical and practical records."

"And here," Andy clicked on another folder, "'Northern Lake Project.' It confirms what Kim mentioned about the facility in the lake district."

But most shocking was a series of files marked "Wolf King Initiative." Rocco opened these files, revealing detailed plans to control the entire werewolf society.

"God," I breathed. "They're planning to control key Alphas and Elders to take over the werewolf council from within."

Rebecca found a list of targets—prominent Pack leaders and influential werewolves throughout the country.

"This isn't just about controlling the city," Andy said, stunned. "They want to control our entire society."

Rebecca analyzed the data further. "According to these files, Ethan has already compromised several important Pack leaders."

Andy pulled up a map. "The Northern Lake facility is here, about three hours' drive. Based on these documents, it appears to be their primary research facility now."

I made the decision quickly. "We need to move immediately. We'll form a team to head to the lake facility while another continues analyzing this data. We have to stop Ethan's next move."

We rapidly organized our plan. Rocco, Andy and I would lead a strike team to the Northern Lake facility, while Vanessa and Rebecca would stay behind to study the consciousness transfer protocol and search for a way to help Kim.

Rebecca distributed equipment—protective masks and special injectors designed to counter the memory compound. "Use these immediately if you encounter any gas," she instructed.

Communication systems were configured, weapons distributed, and vehicles prepared. As we finished our preparations, I looked around at my team, their faces determined and focused.

"Let's go," I said, my voice steady despite the fear churning in my stomach. "Ethan and Lyra have to be stopped, no matter what.
