Chapter 89
Chapter 89
Raven’s POV
The more I stay with Caleb the more I fall for him, my heart just knows he's the one, his scent, his smile everything about him is mesmerizing. He's so gentle with me, I feel like no one has ever treated me like he is.
I sit across the kitchen counter, admiring him as he plays with the ingredients, no shirt on, just tiny swim shorts. He looks edible, to be honest. I'm just left biting my lower lip.
The peace that I feel while here with him is unimaginable. I just wish I could remember all the things I forgot about him.
"Why do you keep staring.” He asks, smiling or is he blushing?
"Well, I just can't stop, you look ravishing.” I say.
"Mmh really?” He smiles so wide, I've never seen him smiling like that, my heart swells. How I wish that I could be making him smile like this each and every day. How I wish our life was just ordinary so we could be happy.
"Yes you do, and I can't stop looking at you.” I say.
"I don't want you to stop, Raven. I want to always see you across from me like this every single day.” He says his smile is fading from his face. The intense look makes me so sad inside. I wish it could be that simple. "I want that too.” I say, meaning every word.
He prepares the meal and we make small talk as we eat. He tells me about how we met, and how we become friends, he tells md about our first kiss. Everything is foreign to me, I wish I could just remember, I hate hurting him. After eating, he scoops me off the floor and into the bedroom. His tense eyes on me.
“Now tell me.” He says, his face turning a little pale as if he's been reading my mind.
"What?” I ask pretending not to understand.
"I know you, Raven. There's definitely something bothering you, and I feel like, its not good news, I feel like..." Without letting him continue, pulling him closer, I kiss him, softly and passionately. He leans in wrapping his muscular arm around my wait pulling me even closer to him. Little moans escape his lips.
"I love you Raven." He breathes as we pull away from each other, I want to remain in his arms forever but it's not possible now.
"Caleb…" I call, my voice coming out all trembly and squeaky, my body shivers betraying me.
"You are scaring me, Raven.” He says, removing his hand from my waist and cupping my palms in his.
"I need to leave.” I drop the bomb.
"Leave? No Raven, please don't say that.” He speaks in a low tone. I know I'm hurting him, but I have no choice.
"I feel lost, Caleb. I can't figure out who or what I am. There is so much power inside me, and I feel like it's going to consume me.” I try to explain.
"No Raven, we can figure this out together.” He speaks, his eyes on my arms as his grip grows tighter.
"I have to go for everyone to be safe. I have to protect you and the others, I know they'll come for me and I can't risk you being hurt Caleb, I can't . I also need to learn about myself, and the only people who can help are my parents and Raphael.” I explain.
"Please don't.” He pleads, a tear escaping his eyes and falling on my hand. “I can't lose you again, Raven.”
“You are not losing me , Caleb, I'm simply going to find myself and my memories of you and I promise to come back.” I say.
"We can make new memories, Raven. I can't let you go.”
“You have to, Caleb. I have to figure this darkness out, I don't want to lose myself.” I say.
"I'm here, Raven. I promised I’d protect you.” He says, his teary eyes searching mine.
"I know, Caleb, but…" I try to speak but he cuts in.
"How did I fall for you this hard, Raven? How?" He gets up, breaking our contact, and starts pacing around the room. “Loving you is so painful, Raven, too painful.” He says, and I feel my heart shattering.
Is he giving up on me? My body shivers from fear, his love is the only thing that feels real. If he abandons me, then I'll have nothing.
"I'm sorry, Caleb.” I break down. I want to walk to him and be in his arms, but I can't. I'm afraid he might push me away.
"I don't know what to do, Raven. I feel like I'm dying inside slowly. I can't do this, Raven.” He says, walking towards the living area, I follow him behind and without a glance, he picks up his jacket from the sofa and starts to head out.
"Where are you going.” I ask in a low tone.
“I need some air.” Without a single glance at me, he leaves, shutting the door behind him. I call out to him, but he doesn't respond.
Painful tears stream down my face. Have I just lost my mate? Did I just lose him?
I wait for him, but he doesn't come back. What did I expect? That I'll keep hurting him and he'll keep coming back? I'm such a fool.
My life is a mess, I need to fix it. I wipe my tears, put on the clothes he bought me, look around the room one last time, and decide to walk away, but then I remember outside there are many guards stationed, so I won't be able to leave.
Something clicks in my mind, and I decide to try it. I close my eyes and focus on getting out of the room. I picture the room Raphael and I were in back in Nadine West.
Suddenly I start feeling hazy, and the moment I open my eyes again, I'm in the room and a surprised Raphael is standing in front of me. I did it.
"Raven it's you, you came back.” He says, rushing toward me, but I stop him in his tracks.
"I need some rest.” That's all I say.
"Okay, I'm glad you are back.” He chuckles wickedly before leaving the room. I collapse on bed and cry myself to sleep.
