Chapter 133

I paused for a few seconds and started talking again, "After I went to California, I realized I could not stop thinking about you and I was thinking about you in everything I did. After you set me free, I could not get you out of my mind and I didn't know why. I thought I just wasn't used to not having you around. But it was when you wrote me that letter that made me cry like a baby and made me realize that I love you too. I love you, Jeremiah. Despite all the horrible things you have done to me, despite that you have treated me badly, despite that I hated you, I still love you."

I dried my tears and began again, "I don't know why I called you when Anthony tried to hurt me, but whenever I heard your voice, I felt safe. I knew you would not let anyone hurt me. You have proven that. I'm sorry for getting back at you over and over again, and I regret it. I never want to hurt your feelings again. I'm sorry."

He looked surprised to hear what I had just said.

He looked at me and said, "Come here."

I was lying next to him and he pulled me up and hugged me, "I am the one who should say sorry. You have been living a miserable life because of me. I'm glad to know that you love me too and I don't think I can express in words how happy I am right now. How were you in California?"

"I'm... okay, I guess? I have found my father." I explained to him.

"Oh, I know it. After you called me for help, I started having my people in California follow you regularly and secretly to make sure you were okay. They later told me you were living in George Weasley's mansion. I was confused, so I did some research, even though I promised not to do so. I was really curious. And then I found out about it. I am really happy for you." He said, smiling at me like I was his queen.

He played with my fingers as we spoke.

"Oh. So, do you know who has done this to you?" I asked, even though I already knew it.

"I don't know, but those guys looked familiar. I think I have seen one of them from around Niklaus. But why would Niklaus have done this to me? He has already made so much from my data... " he muttered.

I ducked my head in embarrassment, remembering that I had stolen his data for Niklaus.

"It's Tiffany Abel," I said briefly.

"What? She would not have done it. I think she is in love with me. Besides, why would she have known such tall and big men?" He asked in confusion.

I teased him by saying in a joking way, "What, are you defending your ex-wife? It seems you still have feelings for her!" I giggled.

Jeremiah's face turned grim and he immediately pulled me into his arms, "Don't be ridiculous. I only have feelings for you, only for you! Your life has become miserable because of me. But I'm so happy to know that you love me too. I don't think I can express in words how happy I am right now. I want to spend the rest of my life making it up to you... Could you please give me the chance?"

When I heard what he said, I sat up from the bed.

He sat up too and asked, "Iris, will you marry me again?"

I was stunned. He had literally just proposed to me on the hospital bed. Tears of happiness welled up in my eyes and I nodded, "Yes, yes!" I answered him, nodding like crazy.

Leo and Lexi suddenly entered the room. "Brother!" "Dad!" Both of them called out at the same time.

"Come here, my baby!" Jeremiah called out to Lexi, who came running towards us. Leo picked her up and put her in Jeremiah's arms.

Lexi hugged Jeremiah tightly and Jeremiah hugged her back.

"Dude, why didn't you call me when you woke up?!" Leo asked. He was glad his brother had finally been woken up.

"I was busy proposing again." Jeremiah replied.

Leo's eyes widened in shock and he said, "You have proposed again? Here? In a hospital room?"

"Yes, brother." Jeremiah giggled.

Lizzy suddenly walked in and was happy to see Jeremiah awake, "Jeremiah! You're awake!"

"Yes, thank you for taking care of me all these years. I'll go visit Auntie and Uncle soon when I'm fully recovered." Jeremiah said.

"That's okay. I know you're not close to them, so don't force yourself to do it." Lizzy said, waving her hand.

Jeremiah smiled at her and turned to Leo as his face turned serious, "Iris said it was Tiffany who had done this to me. I want you to look into it for me."

"You're too slow, man, I already did. Yes, it was Tiffany," Leo explained. "I saw her and Iris meeting at a shopping center the other day when I happened to be passing by. She left earlier than Iris, though. I stopped her before she got in her car and drove her to my house. Then I forced her to tell me everything. She admitted it all." Leo added.

Jeremiah's face turned deathly pale as he said in a cold voice, "Make sure she spends the rest of her life in the territorial prison."
