Chapter 76 Lovebirds flying back home
76\. Lovebirds flying back home
Alpha Damien was sobbing quietly in the dark, relieved that no one would witness him there. He thought he was able to hide in the veil of darkness and save himself from anyone's scrutiny when his soft hand came on his cheek.
"Damien" She murmured while her melting eyes spilled some liquid.
His head was facing the ground. He refused to look up even though she attempted. Damien was internally broken and no matter what his little delicate Aura did couldn't bring him out of his despair.
"I shouldn't have come here." He spoke, making her clench her jaw.
She inhaled his scent along with air and tried not to pour her frustration on him for saying that. Only she was aware of the dread she breathed in the air after that news. Aurora prayed to see him unharmed and here he was. She also prayed to forget everything and give him a chance.
Because as Rosario said, they were barely affected by a misunderstanding that played its part well. Both of them were innocent. It was none of their mistakes. It was life that drew them part and life that brought them together.
"Look at me, Damien." He shook his head in a no like a baby.
"Don't sit here, Aura. Go back into the ward and rest. I don't deserve this." He muttered, his guilt breathable.
She loved his behaviour but she couldn't sit there still, could she?He was repenting and she needed him to know everything was okay. The worst has passed and now it was time to smile at a new beginning with gratification.
However, his nonchalant behavior restricted her. She couldn't do anything. He wouldn't even look up.
Hence she did what was the only option left— She wounded his neck with her shuddering arms and deposited her weight in his lap. Very slowly, he seemed to ease under her hold and post what seemed like a reluctant decision, he cocooned her in his arms hugging her as tightly as he could.
"I am honestly with all my heart sorry. I… didn't." He was trying to apologize again when she pressed her mouth in the crook of his neck thus blocking his throat, and refraining his voice to come out.
She stroked her soft palms on the back of his head and neck as she hugged him tighter. She felt as if she was back home. The feeling she missed for the last two months. The protection of his arms she loved and gratifyingly adored was all back. This is where she belonged.
"Ssshhhh, do not say a thing now." She said rubbing his back in order to sooth her.
Alpha Damien let his walls of maturity crack. The kid inside him was bare in her arms, profusely weeping and murmuring sorries. He sobbed, hiding his face in the hollow between her neck and shoulder.
"I… I didn't mean to hurt you. It's just that I was… I went insane." He sobbed near her neck giving her goosebumps.
Aura hushed him. She drew closer to him and coiled her legs around his waist. She filled every gap and fitted herself in his arms like a part of his. Her
rhythmic heart beats rendered him some peace and gladly his sobs came under control.
When she confirmed he was okay, she pulled apart and joined their foreheads, "I am sorry. In fact, we both should be sorry that our baby had to suffer due to all this we went through."
Oh yeah, the baby! Alpha Damien's hold loosened around her. He hesitantly brought his hand from her back to her front and pressed it on her belly.
"I've promised myself to watch your step when you got pregnant but…"
"It's not too late, Damien," She not just hindered his statement but also petrified him with the continuation, "Just take me home and make up for everything."
She slowly got up and passed him a hand. Alpha Damien enthusiastically took her and got up.
Caressing her cheek he wiped her tears away that shone in her shimmering eyes. It skipped his heart for a moment. When she suddenly realized he had been injured, she recklessly took both of his arms.
"Are you too hurt?" She examined him from top to bottom, trying to spot wounds and bleedings.
Except for a bandage around his head and on his forearm, he was unharmed. She noticed small and many scratches and cuts on his hands, spilling some tears.
"They don't hurt, I swear. Not after you graced them with your lovely gaze." Damien smiled as Aura traced her fingers on those cuts trying to feel his pain.
"Seriously, you're okay? Are you lying to hide it from me or something?" She whispered with a pout.
Alpha Damien died in awe. Her cuteness made him dip his head and steal a kiss from her mouth.
"I swear to you I'm fine." He said pulling her for a tight hug.
They stood there silently for a while. This was bliss. Being back into each other's arms felt like being in heaven. Aurora snuggled his chest for that soothing and shuddering cologne of her alpha lover whereas Damien thankfully held her in his arms. This was missed and now it was being re-lived all over again.
"Damien,"
"Hmmm," He answered, caressing her waist.
"Take me home."
"Gladly, my precious one." With that he picked her in his arms and slipped into the elevator.
Alpha Damien fearlessly sauntered to the exit after stepping out of the lift. He held Aura closed watching the crowd stare at him. There were phones flashing at him, people were taking his pictures. It merely bothered him regardless.
"Damien," He met his beta near the reception.
Brian was relieved seeing Aurora in his arms. Yet a sour look crossed his face, "There are reporters in hundreds waiting for you outside. Your images taking Aurora to the ambulance are everywhere on the internet. They want to know the Alpha's lover."
Alpha Damien seethed irritatingly. Bringing Aura in front of the world as his lady love had been on his list for a while now. But not like this. She was weak. Her body was exhausted.
He watched her sleeping delicately in his arms and bit his mouth, "I want to go home uninterrupted, buddy."
Brian stared at him then at Aura before he nodded in a yes. He looked back outside the huge entrance at the blinking cameras amidst the anchoring of the reporters.
They were everywhere. They surrounded the hospital building from all sides including the rear exit.
"I have a plan," He said, raising his eyes to Damien's face.
"Would you care to share it with me?" Alpha Damien was pissed.
Brian pointed at his back and led him to the elevator. Once they were inside he said, "I'll call for a helicopter. We'll fly back home." His alpha was impressed.
