Chapter 31 Anxious Aura
31\. Anxious Aura.
Aura's POV
I was absorbing warm rays of son with my arms wide open when I perceived Damien take Brian's name with utmost surprise... And loads of concern.
My head whirled around meeting his muscled back that I felt like running my hands on. Sunshine over his bright shirt accentuated his personality, making me want to feel his back under my craving touch.
It was a bad idea though. I shoved it away in the farthest corner of my mind and joined him. My hand sliding on his shoulder, I raised my eyebrows asking him about the matter using facial expressions.
He showed me a palm and continued talking, "Okay, Nelson! I... I am video calling you now. I want to talk to Brian. Alright?" The mumbling sound of the other person on the call was audible to me.
Before I leaned further to listen carefully, he stretched the device away and looked at me, "Someone hit Brian's car and fled away."
"What? How is he now?" My grip on his shoulder loosened.
"I don't know, Aura." He said, his lips knitting in a line of worry. "Nelson sounded so freaked out that it was hard to comprehend anything. Let's hope he is fine."
He told me while operating his phone. He dialed Nelson's, one of his super loyal employees, number on zoom. It was picked up within no time and our eyes met with the scenario unfolding on a hospital floor.
"Oh god! I just hope he's not severely hurt." my hands concealed my mouth.
I was amazed and felt my head spinning at the number of doctors and other staff workers rushing in and out of a ward Nelson was attempting to get in.
"Excuse me," His shaky nervous voice announced.
A ward boy turned around and hissed before he grimacingly said, "Haven't I told you to wait out."
He was about to say something else but Nelson twisted the phone and showed the alpha's face to him. The ward boy's eyes astoundingly popped out as he shivered and apologized to Nelson and helped make way for him.
"Here, Alpha..." Nelson's voice faded away as soon as it left his mouth.
I clutched Damien's hand fearfully since Brian was, to my astonishment, gruesomely injured.
"Brian, how did this happen buddy?" Damien asked, worry dripping from his tone.
Brian was injured but not unconscious and he smiled a painful smile at the camera between his low moans of agony as the doctors were clearing his left arm which was stained red and swollen with a deep slit starting from the joint of his shoulder to the inside of his elbow.
"Trust me, Damien, I am as clueless as you." His voice was shivery, lacking its usual merriment.
He was casually lying on the bed bare chest as a pack of medics surrounded him. Two nurses worked with a wound on his stomach towards the right side, a spot above the location of kidney whereas a doctor sought to tend a cut on his cheek and temple that was oozing with a thick trail of blood.
Damien clenched his jaw. His muscles tightened as here my head spun more and more. The sun rays I have begun with relishing were now making me dizzy and weak.
"I promise, Brian, I'll find the lory and it's driver within five hours." Damien's determination rang in my ears.
But I don't know why I couldn't catch it properly. His words whirled in my head and my eyes blurred.
"D-damien!" I uttered his name while holding his collar as I struggled to not perish from the dizziness, alas, my knees gave up and I collapsed at his feet, face on the floor.

When I undid my eyes, "Aura?" I was in a car under cool temperature with AC on.
Just a quick short glance out of the window and I felt relaxed. We were out of water but on the dock in the same car Damien and I had come in.
There were two guards standing a yard away from our vehicle with walkie talkies in their hands, guarding our vehicle since the dock was slightly messed up with tourists, and Damien Hunter being a recognized personality, they had to look after his Jaguar.
"What am I gonna do with you? You are so fragile." Damien came to hug me.
The warmth of his tensed body covered my petite torso. I closed my eyes at the serene feeling as I held him to me.
"I am okay." I whispered, pressing my lips on his shoulder.
"No, you are not. I am taking you to the hospital right now." His head reluctantly shook.
My body stilled at his statement and heart beats increased. We can't go to the hospital. He'd know about our baby. Damien would be mad at me for hiding it from him. The news of my pregnancy at this moment while his beta is in hospital would not be appreciated by him at all. He would blame me for keeping the news from him.... And worse, he might take steps I'd regret him taking.
"We need to go to the hospital in Manhattan where Brian is admitted. Come on, take me there." On my words, he broke the hug and glowered at me lightly.
"I am taking you to the hospital first."
"No, Damien! I am okay. It's.. It's just that," I gulped my saliva as his eyes scrutinized me darkly.
"What's wrong with you, Aura? You keep falling ill. I am worried for you." His eyes stared at me.
I immediately shook my side ways and took his hands in mine before he went any further, "Your success party is to be blamed.
I put my head on his chest and guided his arm to my waist. He held me in his possessive hold forcing a smile on my lips.
"I know, and I feel stupid. I have known you are a dedicated employee but didn't know you will worsen your condition by working day and night. It's also my fault that I allotted the job to you." He pecked my forehead as his chin came down to rest on my head.
I've already vomited half a dozen times and nearly lost my senses thrice in Cape Town but managed to not fall unconscious. Thankfully it happened in the beach house. He was always there when I threw out but I excused it to be out of my fuzziness.
It was easy to convince him considering that this was my first time leaving my birth place. So the change of atmosphere was really affecting me besides my pregnancy. He didn't take me to a doctor but got me some medicines I could use.
I am glad he didn't go far to recognize my illness to be the symptoms of something else.
"From now on, you are not doing any work in the mansion. I just want you to relax and enjoy. I want you to eat lots of fruits and meat and get strong."
"It's okay, Damien I am honestly fine. I could not handle the view of Brian's condition. That's it, I swear." I lied.
His stern look transformed to a submissive apologetic one as he pouted.
"I am sorry. That's again my fault. I should not have video called in front of you."
I smiled at him whilst caressing his appealing jaw. "That's okay."
"It's not okay, Aura. Your collapse freaked me out." I swore he was angry at himself.
For the first time I noticed an assimilation of all emotions in his scorching eyes. Love topping the list.
I pulled him close and kissed the corner of his mouth as I said, "Let's go home now, Damien. I want to be there with Brian. He needs us."
He nodded, pulling me closer without exchanging a verbal answer.
Just as I was about to relax in his arms, he added, "The very first thing I am gonna do is take you to the hospital for a check up once we get down."
I remained quiet. Then after a while I nodded my head in a yes and shifted myself in his arms completely.
It's only Cape Town which holds my concern. I do not want him to take me to a doctor here because I would not be able to prevent him from learning about the baby. It will also lead to useless misunderstandings and realization that can risk our happy relationship.
"Lay down and rest." He smiled, going out of the car to the driver's seat so I could relax.
I did it gladly since the coiling sensation in my head won't subside. My weighted lids closed effortlessly and I felt my body getting lighter.
Once we are home, I'll happily tell him about the little Hunter growing in my womb. For now, I'll take a small nap. Our baby is tired of our daily sightings and hang outs. The news of Uncle Brian's accident has affected him too.
