Chapter 119 A menacing date night
119\. A menacing date night
In the mansion,
Aura stared out at the gray army of clouds as they wailed and stormily poured over the horizon. Placing a hand on the glass of the window, she felt the iciness creep into her palm. The rain was frosty and every drop plummeted like a bullet on the grass of bed.
"Why is it raining so aggressively today?" She looked up at the sky that's draped the whole world in a blanket of fog.
As long as her eyes could see, there was only pallidness. She never liked rains like these. This reminded her of that terrifying night when Damien misunderstood her and threw her out of the mansion, after accusing her of cheating on him.
Goosebumps spread over her skin. Aura rubbed her arms and walked away. She no longer wished to look into the gray eyes of the sky and feel vulnerable. Pulling the curtains over the windows, she returned to her bed and sat down near the cot of her daughter.
'My heart throbs restlessly inside my chest. Why?' Taking a look at her daughter, Aura pressed her rippling fingers on her left breast.
The tremors of her heart made her cower her shoulders and scoop inside the warmth of the blanket. Something was off about today. The evening felt unlikely and kind of... Eerie.
The pitter patter sound of rain drops made her cringe her nose and stifle a cry of uneasiness. She wished the clouds subsided. The rain outside was making her feel even vulnerable. As if there was a catastrophic storm brewing outside the gates of their mansion. As if an unseen force was building up stronger so that it broke into their peaceful house.
Aura pulled the blanket tighter to her chest and snuggled into it till her nose. She practiced meditation in that position to feel a little lighter when disturbance broke into her room in the form of her whistling husband.
"Damien Hunter!" her eyes snapped open as she threw a glare of warning.
Damien looked at her side at the cot and their peacefully sleeping daughter. A smile made its way on his mouth and he apologetically flexed his shoulders. Then as smoothly as if nothing happened, he drawled into bed and under the blanket.
He kissed her breasts and neck. He feasted her throat hungrily before venturing down to her cleavage and drink. Damien trailed her white skin with the bites of his teeth and came up to capture her lips.
"Let's go out on a date, love." He said as he joined their foreheads.
"Out on a date?" Aura twisted her mouth. "Do you even realize how strong the winds are? It's probably a rainstorm, Damien. We better stay indoors and enjoy the warmth of this soft blanket."
"So what, darling?" He kissed her pout lips. "It's romantic outside. We deserve an evening to ourselves under the romantic sky that's raining so beautifully."
The environment looked romantic to his hooded eyes. But Aura clenched her jaw as lighting flickered outside their mansion. She was forced to stare at the covered windows and breath appallingly. No way, she was not going out.
"I'll stick to my words, Damien Hunter. This blanket is better than your so-called romantic environment." She pushed him away and straightened. "We are not going anywhere."
"But Aura," Damien followed her with full determination to win her over with his temptation.
Oh that Aura stood to her grounds of not leaving the mansion. Oh that she was not swooned over by Damien's velvety kisses, and his tantalizing soft touches. It would have been better inside the mansion with her daughter and husband--- if only she didn't agree to go out with Damien.
"But Anna... I don't want to leave her behind, Damien." She cast a glance at Anna's cot through the mirror while painting her lips.
"She's going to be okay, love." Damien circled her waist with his strong captivating arms and pressed his mouth on her revealed shoulder.
Aura chose a blood red trumpet gown. It was similar to the one she wore on their date on that fateful evening. Not that it was her wish. Damien requested her to wear this gown that he bought for her when they were not living together.
He had it designed for Aurora from a famous designer from Milan. Damien claimed that he wanted to make the most out of their date night but the circumstances failed their chances. So when this gown was sent over, he promised himself that they would relive that night again. And this evening seemed perfect.
"Can't we just have a date somewhere inside the mansion." She said, "There are so many worthy places where we can enjoy ourselves. Plus point... Anna would get to join us too."
"But I want us to spend time together, Aura. Just you and me."
"But Damien," Something didn't seem right about the night and Aura could feel it.
"Come on, love, don't back out now when you are fully ready." Her husband stepped away and ogled at her from head to toe like a madly in love lover.
"Just look at you, my sexy nymph. I am not letting you cancel our date. No... Means no."
"Okay okay... I'm not cancelling our date. Happy?"
"More than just happy." Damien kissed her throat.
Turning back to the mirror, Aura completed her make up. Damien was busy setting his hair, so she stopped near the cradle to admire her daughter.
"I don't want to leave you alone, sweetheart." She cautiously lifted her fragile bundle of joy.
She rocked Anna back and forth, stroked her cheeks and fixed the cap on her head properly. Anna was too cute to be left alone. And as her mother, Aura was possessive.
Noting the ominous vibes in the air, she hugged her tight. The evening was growing cold and dark. The clouds bellowed louder than before. Aura spun to the window and looked out of the curtains.
The sky has grown painfully gray. Mist lingered around the gates of the mansion, enwrapping them so wildly that her eyes could no longer see them.
It was then when her heart squeezed in her chest. There was the same spasm spreading through her muscles that had on that night of their date. The notion was clear... She must stay inside.
"I am ready." Damien's bright voice rang with excitement.
When she sunk in the looks mirrored on his face, "I'll tuck Anna in the cot again."
"Mamma will be back soon before you open your beautiful eyes, baby." In spite of her feelings she placed her daughter in the cocoon of the soft blanket of cot and held Damien's hands.
They ventured out of the room, mouths smiling at each other with pure love. Madam Martha showed a thumbs up to Aurora and a smile of assurance that said that she would take care of Anna as they exited through the door out in the misty pouring sky.
A servant held an umbrella over their heads as they scooted towards a waiting SUV.
"You can give me the keys, Oscar. It's just us tonight." She heard Damien say and instantly glared in the eyes of the sky.
"No driver?" Her heart sped in her chest, reason unknown.
"I don't want any guards following us either!" Alpha Damien winked.
He was keeping his words of spending a night alone with her. Just the two of them. Yet, the feeling... The heavy feeling in her chest won't subside. It only grew intense when she saw his naughty eyes.
"No ways, Damien, we can't go alone." She stopped him from opening the passenger's door for her.
"Aura,"
"I am not listening to you now. Please understand, Damien. I don't know why... But," She stuck closer to him as a wind carrying raindrops whipped their faces. "I don't feel good, Damien."
"What? Are you sick?" He held her close and checked her forehead.
Taking her hand, Aura let him observe her inwardly drawn brows, "I am not sick I am just..."
"Afraid?" He guessed, a rush of emotion exalted her senses as weakening waves of fear pulsed through her body.
"It's not that I'm afraid," she said.
"It's that . . . it's that ..:" She couldn't think clearly, and her lowered eyes fixed involuntarily on his mouth-now perilously close to hers.
"Aura, Aura... The sexy mother of my daughter," his lips were saying. "Are you seriously afraid for us? Why?" He gathered her closer, her breasts pressing hard against his chest.
"I don't know but... I don't feel good, Damien." She confessed.
She raised a hand so she touched the broad width of his shoulders, hoping that her shuddering touch would change his mind. Except the Alpha had other emotions running through him.
He caught her by the nape and kissed her lips, not minding the driver or the servant with the umbrella or their widened eyes.
"It's okay, love. It's probably the rain that's scaring you. You don't have to worry about anything as everything is perfectly fine. We are safe. Anna is safe. It's going to be a wonderful night." He rubbed her arms.
"But I am..." Damien stopped her by placing a finger on her lips.
He was like a magnet, encircling her, overpowering her, stimulating every fiber of her being even as the inner voice repeated, "Don't go! Don't go!"
We must not leave the mansion, she thought. But her pushing hands felt weak.
And when she heard him say, "It's only a matter of three or maybe four hours. If only we leave now, then we will be able to fulfill your promise of returning home soon." it was more a request than a sigh of surrender.
His eyes bored into hers, seeming to see her more deeply-more completely than he ever had, a look that touched her soul.
Then lowering his head, his lips drew closer, "Let's go back in—"
She didn't let him finish and kissed his lips. He'd never asked anything so intensely before. It was just a date.
'I am probably overthinking, which is ruining our chance of a nice memorable date. Damien's never asked for something so much before. I must not cancel the date... At least for my husband's sake.' She reckoned and kissed him deeply.
When they parted, Aura gestured to him to open the door, "Now be quick, Mr. Hunter, I want to see your arrangements. After all... You look over excited for the date."
"You will be flattered, Mrs. Hunter, for the date venue is no less than heaven." He closed the door and joined her in the car.
They buckled their seat belts and soon they were driving on the road. Aura was overjoyed at the view outside the window. The rain was not as aggressive as it looked from the window of their room. It was... Misty, but there was indeed something romantic about it that her husband was able to notice while she failed.
They were on an empty road. Just their car. Just them enjoying the downpour with no vehicle blocking their view.
"I am glad I didn't cancel the date." She chirped.
Damien acknowledged her joy with a wink, "See, I told you. I love rain and a date under such a night will only make it more divine."
"Well, thanks to you, Mr. Hunter," She gawked and kissed his neck, making him glare at her.
"Not when I am driving, Aura. Your touch is a drug and I have no wish to die from being drugged while driving." He moved away.
"I never knew that..." His tempting wife leaned inward and ran her finger on his cheek and below his chin.
"Damn you, Aura!" He cursed.
Aura couldn't play with him much because the brakes were pulled and the car came to a screeching halt.
"You will not be forgiven for this," Closing his hand over her, Damien yanked her closer.
Their eyes spoke in the car as their mouths smirked and played together in a battle of kisses. Aura felt him growing desperate and reached for her soft spot between her legs.
"Damien," She pushed him away and gasped. "We have a date, don't forget."
"Now I wish I had let you cancel it." He growled, his devastatingly handsome face growing sour.
