Chapter 114 Maria Nixon gave the slip!!!

Chapter 114 Maria Nixon gave the slip!!!
114\. Maria Nixon gave the slip!!!

(Flashback cont'd)

Brian was waiting near the car. When he saw the scene, the ground under his feet shook. Maria was literally being dragged along the ground. It seemed that she let her body free in hope that Damien would not force her. But he crazily yanked her like a sack of potatoes.

"Da-Damien please listen to me," She kept begging but the alpha didn't pay her any heed.

He threw her in the passenger seat and slammed the door making her yelp. Her blurred eyes watched him sprint to the other side of the car and sit next to her in the driver's across the steering wheel.

"NO!" She just touched the door to unlock it but he snarled like an animal. "You better not dare it."

Maria coward away. She closed her eyes and shrunk as far away from him as possible, as she heard him kick the engine start and set the vehicle in motion. She sobbed irrationally and shivered like the leaves during a storm.

The alpha accelerated the car at high speed, taking her breaths, heart beats and senses away. All that she had to offer was a wide eyed look with helpless mewls invading her vibrating mouth whenever her head or body hit the window or the front due to jerks.

She was sitting without the seat belt and she didn't dare fasten it in place either. Her head hit against the window as he took a rough turn to the right but Maria Nixon had no guts to open her mouth.

Damien resembled a devil with his lips set tight as a muscle ticked at his jaw. His white knuckles held the steering wheel in a deathly grip. She could see her neck in place of it and hence sat quietly rather than uttering anything.

This didn't mean she was any but calm from within! Her inside was a turmoil of clenching muscles and building trepidation. She felt her core ripple as he took another turn leading to a menacing highway.

There were only trees on both sides with no trace of another vehicle. She was registering the isolated world outside when the car came to a halt. Her face bumped into the windshield with such force that it rendered a cut on her lower lip.

"Come out," She heard him command.

The place looked no less than a haunted sight from a horror movie. The expanse was isolated and tranquil. There was no rolling air or any sign of human population.

When she was dragged out, she noticed the highway was going deep inside a forest she was yet to register. What looked like a few trees was actually nothing. There was more than she thought. There was a dreadful forest that was black at view from where she noticed.

"Da-Damien please listen to me, I… I..." Maria caught his leg frantically.

"I… I… what? You think I will fall for your lies again?!" He fisted on her hair and pulled her into a standing position against his car.

He shoved her in it mercilessly. Clutching her hair tighter, he arched her face, making her eyes blur against the expanse of violet sky.

"Maria Nixon, do you really think I will let you get away with all your schemes and lies so easily." He punched a fist next to her shoulder in the window, shattering it in pieces.

"You humiliated my mate. You called my baby with names. How could you even think I would not punish you for pushing my nine months pregnant wife." He pinched her chin to make her look in his eyes.

He saw her lips flutter. She wanted to say something. Something he knew would make him lose his shit and kill her gruesomely.

"I really wanted to help you out of the way, Maria Nixon. I really hoped I could treat your wounded mind but you were planning to ruin my family. You," He threw her on the ground and turned away.

Facing the sky he sucked deep breaths while placing his hands on his waist. The smell of blood hit his nostril with oxygen and as he looked under his arm, he gaped at Maria holding her gashed forearm that hit a hard stone laying before her.

The dance of fear on her face and the quivers of her bleeding lips softened his fury to some extent. It looked like she learnt her lesson. Her extremely wet eyes and uneven breaths spoke of her terminal fright. She seemed like someone that should be left alone.

However, Damien just knew one thing— It was that this woman stabbed him in the back when all that he wanted was to help her. She was here for a reason that was brutal enough to drag her by her hair and rip her throat open in the deep forest.

"I am not showing any mercy to a whre like you." He growled loudly and his words sounded like a venomous snake ready to bite.

"No, no no no… please Damien, I am sorry. I… I didn't hurt Aurora. I di-didn't do anything to your baby. Trust me I only meant to re-replace her… t-that's all. I swear, Ahh!" She was thrown on a shoulder and taken towards the dark apprehensive forest by Damien.

Maria's face lost color. She wriggled to earn her liberty. Her hands banged on his back but his steps didn't falter even one bit.

"Today I will show you how to create a scene and play it expertly without being noticed." Within no time they were inside the deep forest where everything looked black and gloomy with a biting air whipping her face.

Throwing Maria on the ground messed with roots, twigs, dry leaves and sharp pointed stones, he searched for vines so that he could tie her hands and legs.

"I will teach you how to kill someone and get away with the murder easily without being caught or suspected. The only downside is that you will not be alive to play them on someone else." He smirked finally being able to find a flexible yet rough vine.

But as he turned around, his eyes lost the fire of revenge that's been rekindling intensely. Also the rigidness in his muscles loosened for Maria Nixon was lying unconscious on the ground.

Bending near her frame he patted her cheeks. There was blood under her skull. Realization, shuddering and hard, whipped his ass stun as he register that she'd fainted long back when he was carrying her inside the forest. He recalled her wincing painfully at a moment when he jumped over a sharp rock lying in his path. She must have hit her head then.

The worst part was that she was cold. Her heartbeats were slow. Her face was white and her hands laid in disheveled manner as though she was a long dead corpse.

'You must take her to hospital now, Damien. Your only intention was to scare her, not kill her.'

It was his oh-so-sensible wolf that had been growling insanely in his chest since he heard that audio clip of Maria and Aura's conversation.

After an unwilling howl, he lifted her up and rolled back to his car upon taking a glance at her face.

Flashback end…

Damien chewed the insides of his mouth as he blinked at his reflection.

'My only intention was to frighten her so much that she would never consider attempting a similar stunt again. But now she's in a hospital under treatment for trauma. It's bad but that's what the bitch deserved. She won't come back with twists or any more schemes.'

And with no remorse, he moved back. He put on his clothes and finger combed his wet hair. With one last look at himself through the mirror, he headed out.

Damien stopped in the big hall where Brian was sitting with a mug of coffee in his hands.

"Had a good night, Alpha Damien?!" He winked an eye at Damien who only rolled them.

"Your Luna's neck and lips bear clear signs of your intense delight. So don't give me that look, huh." Brian added.

His coffee was snatched from his hand and taken sip of. "That's not why I have this look, bitch."

"Oh, okay? Wait, if it's not that then what makes your face look like a monkey's ass?"

Damien returned Brian's cup and replied, "Aura asked me about Maria Nixon again."

"Then why don't you tell her?" It was said with ease.

But it wasn't as easy as it sounded at all. Maria Nixon was in hospital in a bad condition. Her mental health was a mess and it was good that way.

He didn't want it to come to Aura's notice. Why? If she found out that Maria Nixon was in a chaotic state, she would feel horrible about it and then ask to visit her, which was the last thing he wanted. Aura needed to be here and take care of her own life and family.

"Look, I want her to forget that dimwit." He said.

"Okay then, there's only one way you can say that, and that is— oh my, my baby!" Brian's face beamed brightly as his gaze caught Aura coming towards them with a freshly bathed Anna.

She was dressed in a light blue frock, which looked amazing with her baby blue blanket. Just that her face was red. It made him pout and scoot towards her, leaving Damien hanging.

'That cunt didn't finish his words first.' he banged his fist on the couch beside his lap.

He stood up and went after his beta.

"Hey," Aura grabbed hold of his collars as he stopped next to Brian and hauled him away, but not before giving Brian custody of Anna.

"This is… do you know that you can be arrested for putting your hands on the Alpha's collar." He raised an eyebrow at her.

"Do you know that you can be thrown out of the mansion if you piss me off." Her challenging tone made the sides of his mouth widen in pride.

"That can happen." He agreed.

Aurora Hunter looked sexy when she played a fierce Luna. She would be a good businesswoman but at the moment she had no will to enter the corporate world. She didn't want to be the type of mother to Anna his mother had been to him.

She took themselves out in the garden and pulled him under the scorching sun. Her lips found his and they kissed for a good time. It was a bribe given to the alpha before she attempted to extract Maria's information from him again.

Her fingers caressed his stubbled jaw and a moan from her mouth purred like a melody. When she broke the kiss Damien gave her a I-know-your-intention kind of look.

"Then tell me, no?" He firmly combined their fingers and started a trek through the clean garden like a couple on honeymoon.

"Damien, it's not too hard, is it? You just have to tell me what happened to her and that's it. Don't you think it's better you spilled the truth than hiding it. I won't pester you after that." She snaked his arm and clung on it to annoy him.

Curses came to his mind but he cleared his head and sucked a breath of fragrant air. This part of the garden was always fresh and the air carried smells of various flowers maintained here. It was like every breath felt different with different aroma filling his chest.

"Please Damien why are yo—"

"Maria Nixon was sent back to Australia." Aura's eyes stalled on his face.

"Really? When?" Her eyes narrowed to slits.

She stared at him closely, looking for a falter in his confident expression. But this was Damien, an alpha, who's learnt the art of fooling people with his looks. The academy he joined years back taught him several skills and hiding his emotions behind the cover of poker face was one of the best ones he picked expertly.

"Uhh," She bought his lie and flashed her teeth for a smile. "That's good to hear but," still… unconvinced.

"I didn't tell you because you seemed to have forgotten about her. I figured you wanted her to be gone out of our house, out of my life, and that was the way it was supposed to be, right?." He said with a dramatic roll of his eyes.

His wife was innocent but not dumb. She wasn't going to accept his lie easily. Even if she displayed a convincing smile, Damien knew her inside out and an answer was ready beforehand.

"You're right, but Maria Nixon didn't look like the loser types." She voiced as they dragged each step at leisure on the soft grass. "She's been determined with her intentions and knew what she had to do to get you."

"But she failed the moment she raised her hands on you— who is the Luna of the pack and my mate. She shouldn't have peeled her mask in front of you. She was stupid to underestimate you. That's what got her back to where she is now. That's what someone raising their hands on you gets." An image of mentally traumatized Maria with machines in the hospital flashed in his mind.

"Well it's okay, we need not talk about her now if she's not around us any longer." She rubbed his bicep in order to kill his boiling rage, and also to drift his mind away from Maria.

But Damien shot his head towards her with a ruthless elevation of his eyebrows thus making her heart skip.

"So you're saying I was the one who started talking about her?"

"D-definitely no," Her toes curled as his eyes stopped on her lips.

"Then what do you mean to say, Mrs. Hunter?" He stepped closer and leaned forward.

There were guards watching around the mansion and she sensed their eyes on them that moment. Damien's mouth was apparently a hair's-breadth away when Brian's loud call for her roared in the air, giving Aura an excuse to push her husband away.

"Looks like Brian wants to see me." She said and turned to leave.

Just then a red-faced Brian appeared with Anna who was cooing. "She needs some milk again I guess."

Before Damien could inquire about why he was flushed, he discreetly handed Anna to her mother and rushed off.

"I'll feed her now." Aura made him avoid Brian and focus on her.

As her figure disappeared inside the mansion, a devilish smirk arched his lips, "I hope that's enough of a doze for you and you would refrain yourself from asking less important things, love."

Brian jumped into his car and put on the seat belt. Sweat beads covered his forehead as he frantically chewed his mouth and accelerated the engine.

"How the hell did that happen?" He muttered.

Then he stared at his phone laying on the seat beside him. The messages he'd read five minutes ago flickered before his gaze. It was from one of the guards who was downed with the duty of looking after Maria in the hospital.

It read:

Maria Nixon is not in her ward, beta. We looked everywhere in the hospital but she's nowhere. We are afraid she escaped.

"Damien will kill me if he learns that Maria gave the slip to the doctors and ran away. I was right with my suspicion. She was not mentally traumatized or anything— she was fucking fooling us so she survived under our observation." the biting on his lips intensified.

After driving roughly for ten minutes straight he finally applied the brakes and jumped out.

"Oh moon goddess, may she be there somewhere inside the hospital. Please." His jaw tensed into a deep frustration before he paced towards a guard, who was waiting for him.

What will her disappearance bring now— temporary distress or... forever destruction?

Tbc…

Ohh, that wasn't expected! Do you think it's the destruction that's coming ahead? Let's see together. Don't forget to comment and vote please. Last few chapters to go.
