104\. Her water broke!?
Damien was sitting in his office before the laptop, going through some important presentations. He was fully into his work when his phone buzzed. He seethed being disturbed during work. But the phone was from one of Aurora's bodyguards.
Without thinking twice, he grabbed the phone and stuck it to his ear, "Hello?"
"Good day, Alpha," Damien heard the guard. There was a slight crisp in his voice.
Distracted, he closed the laptop and dragged his chair backwards with his feet as he focused on what the guard had to say.
"Luna wishes to see you now at this moment. She has asked me to ask you to keep all your work aside and come to the mansion right now." He said.
Damien sighed throwing his head back. He imagined Aura being moody and wanting him now.
"Tell her that it will take sometime. I have some important meetings lined up. Once they are done I'll head back to her before she notices that." He replied.
"Apologies Alpha, but your presence is required in the mansion for there is something else that needs to be told to you."
"Is Aura okay?" Damien's heart suddenly caught speed.
He chewed his lips and became conscious of his environment. Damien heard Aura's guard say on the other side, "Luna Aurora is good however there is something el—"
"Don't beat around the bush and spill it already." He impatiently said.
He had important files to review and the sooner he finished what he had to offer the faster he could go back to work.
"Your guest, Maria Nixon, had been arrested by the guards for attacking Luna in her bedroom. At the moment she's home arrested in her room."
"Hell," Dazed, Damien got up from the chair.
He restlessly walked to and fro, finding it hard to believe the guard's words.
"Maria can't do that." The alpha was speechless.
On one hand he was worried for his mate and the cub who was about to come into this world. On the other hand, he was having a hard time accepting that Maria would do anything as such. She seemed so disturbed and vulnerable when he saw her in the morning. It didn't seem to be possible.
But then his wolf and his instincts knew well. And they said that Maria was at fault.
"She did, Alpha. Though we could not witness her hurting Luna personally since they were behind the closed doors of your bedroom, we have heard her throwing inappropriate comments at Luna. And when we entered the room at Luna's call, we found her on the floor by the bedside in a painful condition, and Maria Nixon across from her standing at her full height dominantingly." The guard's words were enough for Damien to throw the thoughts of work outside the window and take a leap towards the door.
He quickly rushed to the elevator and signaled his PA to cancel all the upcoming meetings. His wolf growled as he cursed Maria. Hunter was not ready to allow her in the mansion alongside Aurora but Damien became too kind to think of the odds.
Damien pitied her so much that he commanded the death case of Maria's father be abolished and that she should be protected from any charges.
But now the alpha cursed his kindness. He could not stop thinking about his mate and the cub. He hoped that Maria did not push her or something. She better not!
"Joe, I am on my way. Do not leave your Luna alone, you hear me?" Rushing towards his car, he said.
"Rest assured, Alpha. We are here with Luna." The guard said and in the background Damien heard yelps of Aurora.
He got worried and asked as his car got in motion, "What happened to her? Is she okay? Joe, what is happening to Aura?"
"She is in pain she describes as very little, Alpha. Miss Marth is by her side. We are here with her." The guard informed him.
Damien was not convinced. He expressed his wish to be put on call with his dear mate but the guard sincerely declined. Aura didn't want to take the call.
"She wishes for you to be here, Alpha. Luna won't talk to you on the phone." this got Damien sighing.
He assured of his quick arrival and disconnected the call. While the alpha with golden eyes looked outside, he couldn't help but think about Maria.
"That bitch," He seriously wished to help her. "I will kill you Maria Nixon if it was a scheme to enter my house and try to break it." But sometimes you cannot tell the difference between a true vulnerable person and a viper. She was a viper.
Just then his wolf, Hunter crazily hissed, 'Damien, could it be... Could it be Maria that sent the email to you?'
Damien's eyes dilated. His shoulders turned rigid as the message in the email formed before his eyes on the passing by scenery outside the window.
"Damn it," He didn't want to think that was the case but the dots could be linked without any doubt.
He could not stop himself from grunting aggressively. His wolf made it harder. As Damien tried to stay calm, another bomb of astonishment was dropped on him when he received an email with an attachment he wished he didn't listen.
The email talked about the recording taken from the bugs attached on Luna Aurora's guards' uniforms. The recording was sent for him to hear and when he did, his mind was a chaos of exasperation and restlessness.
"How dare she?" He screamed, taking the driver by surprise.
Aura didn't feel like being bullied from the conversation he was hearing. However, it was that part that got him all pumped up where Maria said that her body would be useless and unwanted and Damien would want a nice figure to satisfy his needs, and that Maria would take that position happily. It completely set him off the edge that Alpha Damien quickly rang his beta.
"Issue an arrest order for Maria Nixon for murdering her father and trying to assault the Luna during her pregnancy." He said.
Confused, Beta Brian replied, "But in the morning you asked me to abolish the case. It is already done, Damien."
"Do as I say, Beta Brian. It is my order." Damien screamed. "I also want her in the lock up right now."
Brian was saying something on the other side but Alpha Damien was least bothered to hear him. That is because the iron gates before his extravagant mansion were opened for him. Just as his car came to a pause, he immediately jumped out with his phone on not caring that his beta was still on the line.
Damien took a run towards the mansion. "Aura, Aura!" He shouted for her as he hurried towards their room.
"Aura," The room was empty.
There was no one except for a faint scent of his wife with Madam Martha's and her guards. Damien's face turned pale in dread.
Oh moon goddess, where is my mate? He chewed his lips while coming to the main hall where he ran into a bunch of servants that were waiting for him.
Their expressions said that they knew Aura's whereabouts. The way they stared at him with quivering lips, he was hundred percent sure they wanted to tell him about her location too.
"Where is your Luna?" He desperately asked, not being able to wait for their answer.
All of them looked at each other before one came forward. With a sincere bow, he said, "Luna Aurora has been rushed to the hospital, Alpha."
"Oh my goddess," Damien's eyes watered.
He could only think of one thing— that Maria was that anonymous sender of the email and that she's ultimately fulfilled what she's claimed she would do. He thought that she had harmed his mate and the child.
"Be precise, Ross. You are freaking alpha out." Damien heard a woman speak to the guy who's offered him the news.
She came forward with a smile before his watery gaze and offered him even scarier news, "Well, Luna Aurora's indeed been rushed to the hospital, Alpha. But that is because her water broke."
He thought that oh that's because her water broke. Wait, what? He stopped breathing.
He did notice and smell blood patches on the floor but he was too occupied with the safety of his mate and his baby that he could not think of that.
"We hoped to inform you Alpha but Luna strictly said no. She wanted you to find it on your own when you came to the mansion."
Damien stared at her with wide eyes until she said it again much to his surprise. He whirled around and quickly sped outside to his car. The tears that had occurred out of dread now trailing down his eyes in utter excitement.
My baby's coming to meet me. Wow. Oh moon goddess, that is the good news of the day.
He thought, totally forgetting about Mari a and that she was home arrested inside his mansion and currently watching him take his car and leave.
