Chapter 102 Would you mind if my Ex stays with us, wifey?
102\. Would you mind if my Ex stays with us, wifey?
As the new sun of the morning crept out of the veil of clouds, Aura turned to her side and sighed. Damien didn't return to their room after Maria's arrival. He sympathized with her so much that he walked her to the guest room on the first floor and spent the whole time with her.
He was not alone. Madam Martha was his companion. While he was assuring Maria of the best Madam Martha made sure she was not short of supplements or her motherly embrace. What was Aura's alone was now being divided and shared with Maria.
"Maybe I am just over thinking as she is Damien's ex-girlfriend." She told herself.
Aura sat up straight and pushed her hair backwards. She was not used to sharing her husband's or mother's love with anyone else. Seeing them take care of Maria was kind of annoying.
Aura knew that they would never replace her. She was more than just important. There was no comparison between her and Maria. She was merely tormented by her life and her family was only trying to help her. Just like they helped her.
Damien was a kind alpha. He treated everyone significantly. There was no favorite or disliked person in his eyes. Everyone was the same for him. Even Maria.
Madam Martha was a woman with a golden heart. She connected with every woman with a disturbed past for she's been through hell herself.
She came to love Ginny as a daughter when she was in need. Maria was getting the same treatment. There was nothing new or precious about it. Their attempts were only to tend to Maria's messed up life and disturbed emotions.
"My hormones will kill me." She put her thoughts in the very corner of her mind and got up to take a shower.
Freshly bathed and prepared to enjoy some pampering to herself she came to the breakfast table.
"Morning Everyone." She greeted them with a smile.
"Morning, love." As expected Damien kissed her head and got up to help her take a seat.
"My baby is awake," Madam Martha gleamed with utter pleasure. "I've prepared your favorite breakfast today."
She quickly rushed towards Luna's seat which is next to Damien's and grabbed her shoulders in a motherly hug. It was followed by the greetings of servants. They stepped forward to bow to her and smile.
Maria was watching this with a face devoid of any emotions. She saw a woman so pampered and loved, and cared for. A pregnant lady around whom the world seems to rotate around. She had the Alpha's eyes fixed on her lovely grin and the old Housekeeper served her breakfast like she was her favorite child. The servants were around her like bees around a rare flower with the sweetest nectar.
"Maria," She jerked out of her trance and forced her lips to smile.
A smile so small and dragged that Aura felt she was barely stretching her mouth to pretend to smile. But again she shoved the thoughts away and read the anguishing features of the woman. She was beautiful. Like any other sexy lady her alpha husband dated in his past.
"Maria, right?" Aura pretended to guess her as she appraised her from head to visible torso.
"Aura, this is indeed Maria. My—"
"Your ex-girlfriend. I think I know her." Damien gave her an apologetic grin.
"You know her then." He said and plucked a grape and tossed it in his mouth.
"I think I saw you together with her on TV half a decade ago. That's before you started dating her cousin and the renowned model from Iran, Zara Hashemi, right?" Damien's mouth hung in daze. She knew so much about him.
Maria saw them sharing a naturally cool look. As if it was no big deal. As if Aura was used to having breakfasts with his ex-girlfriends. This was not what she thought she would spectate.
Her eyes locked with Aura's. She was smiling but what she said didn't seem to go along with the glow her big blinking blue eyes projected, "I also remember watching the news that was about your unrecognized break up with her. Then why would you let her inside our house, Damien?."
"I am..." Maria restlessly began. Her lips quivered uneasily.
But Damien masked her hand on the dining table. He then eyed his mate's round belly as if informing Maria about her hormones and mood swings as a pregnant lady.
"She's got in some trouble, love. I am just helping her." He spoke whilst turning to the mother of his child.
"Oh, I didn't know. I hope you come out of it soon, Ms. Nixon. I will pray for you." Aura grinned apologetically.
"Thank you, Aurora." Maria's rigid shoulders loosened to relax as she beamed hesitantly.
"Wow! I love you for this, Ma." Aura squealed gazing at the plate of lasagna.
It was her favorite. She thanked her Ma and dug into it like it was the last piece. Maria saw Damien admire her and kiss her shoulder lovingly.
Everyone else focused on their breakfast too until the Luna of the pack decided to interrupt the silence with a sarcastic remark, "Damien, since when did she start seeking help from you? As far as I can think she's not been in the city for a long time."
Maria's head lifted again. She bit her lips and her eyes fluttered. Paleness painted her face.
She was on the verge of crying when Damien said, "Ermm, she reached out to me the other night, love. Something happened and only I can take care of it as the alpha of the pack. So there's that. Oh yeah, she'll be staying here with us until I solve her problem. You don't mind it, do you?"
Aura dropped her fork in the plate and stared at Maria. Her reaction stilled their bodies.
"I hope you find some solace in our house, Ms. Nixon. Our servants will take care of your needs and my Ma is also there. Don't be hesitant, okay?"
Her reply stunned the servants and Madam Martha. Damien was too shocked to close his mouth.
They didn't foresee it coming given that Aurora Hunter was possessive of her husband. She didn't like him to help others or favor them. She preferred to be his only favorite.
"I'll take my baby out for a small ride today." He took her hand and pressed it on his cheek.
He kissed each of her fingers before he got up to leave. His presence was requested in the office today, which he could not deny.
"Come home soon."
"Sooner than you'd know, baby." Damien hugged her protectively. "Take care of my baby. I love you." He kissed her lips before leaving her.
Maria observed everything quietly. She tried not to roll her eyes but Aura was quick enough to notice it. Maria pretended to look distressed and lowered her head in her plate.
In the afternoon, Aura was sitting in the main hall opening boxes of gifts sent over by various companies for the Alpha's baby.
"This is so cute. Look at this, Ma." She was accompanied by Madam Martha, some servants from and Maria.
"This is lovely, lady Aurora." One woman said with extreme happiness.
"Yes, Luna," another one said.
"Aww, I want to be a kid again." someone else chirped.
There were various hand rattling toys and each was unique and adorable. It was sent by a new start up with warm wishes. Aura was busy admiring them, rattling them, when a pair of hands covered her eyes.
"Guess who it is?" She heard near her ear.
The scent of perfume was enough to guess the person. But Aura thought of playing a small game.
"Carla?" She said a random name.
"No!" A dismayed voice replied.
"Then then is it Natalie?" She guessed a random name again.
"Hell, no!" Aura heard a pissed tone.
She suppressed her building laughter as she predicted another random name, "Oh, I know who it is? Laura." She shouted.
No sooner did it come out of her mouth than she felt the veil of the hands lift away from her blocked eyes.
"I was gone just for a few weeks and you made new friends, Aurora! You're so mean." Aura smiled watching Ginny jump in the front and sit next to her, crossing her legs as a sad look mirrored her face.
