Death screams like a Siren!!!

**Natasha’s POV**

“This is all she has?” Damon’s sarcastic remark echoed through the forest, diverting my attention away from that frozen bitch and towards the hordes of ugly monsters crawling their way. They were moving ahead like mindless drones with no fear or survival instincts, for all they knew of only one thing, and that was to kill.

The pro of fighting these mindless creatures is they don’t think, so they don’t attack strategically because their brains are among the first of the organs to start decomposing the day they die or are sacrificed, so it becomes easier to strike them taking dozens of them at once. But, now comes the con part. Along with their brains, their hearts are also dead, devoid of any flesh and beats, which makes them deadly enemies with no mercy, feeling and regard for any life. They are like bots programmed to kill, kill and kill with no fear for their own lives, nor do they differentiate between good and evil. They are the perfect example of artificial intelligence turning rogue in the world of supernaturals. A perfect army for tyrant dictators who wants to take over the world.

The deafening sound of collective howls of those monsters jerked me out of my thoughts.

“Here you go!” Lukas muttered after effectively beheading dozens of them in a single spin of his sword, with the foul-smelling black mucus splattered over Rhaegar.

“Fucker!” Rhaegar snarled at Lukas before focusing his attention on the mob that was aiming his way, “Come on, you morons!” He laughed and mowed them down with their scattered body parts hurdled on the side.

“I hate these fugglies!” Damon grunted as he swung up his axe, getting one demon in the man parts without even looking. He rotated his axe back, slicing into the chest of one demon, causing him to fall into another.

My wolves leapt on them with the ferocity of a cheetah, slicing through their necks, tearing whatever was left over of their rotten skin, and dismembering their body parts as if parts of Lego. Within no time, the hordes of the creatures became the pile of bones lying on the floor, dipped in their own brackish blood. Every move made by my mates and wolves was a killing blow, and it looked utterly flawless. They need to kick the bodies off the sides to make the room to fight more.

Once we thought that we were leading, a new challenge perched before us. The piles of bones started pounding and stacked on top of each other with a layer of black mucus in between to stick them together, as if it was cementing the layers of bricks, giving rise to giant monsters with multiple heads, limbs and torsos. We all sighed at the monsters ahead of us. Their internal organs which consist of their rotten hearts, decomposed brains, damaged lungs which looked like blackened cobwebs scratched and elongated in some places and stomachs with the dripping greenish fluid infested with maggots can be seen glued on the top of their bodies. My mates as well as wolves' faces grimaced in disgust, and their bodies flinched because of the repulsiveness of that disgusting sight.

I turned my focus on that Siren. She deemed my confused expressions as fear and gave a full wide smirk making her uglier. Lukas struck one of the giant demons in the mid-torso, causing the upper portion of its body to detach and fall on the floor, but within the next second, it jumped back and attached back to its body and tried to attack Lukas with more ferocity.

“Fuck! They are impossible to kill!” Damon shouted, raising his weapon to keep up the fight.

“Sure they are, my handsome. And one more secret,” Siren said in a hushed and giggled voice, “The more you strike them, the more powerful they become. So, stop fighting for this bitch, and I’ll make you three the kings of my realm.”

“Stop listening to her nonsense and keep fighting. Even though it's a useless exercise, it will still buy us the time to think of a way to kill them,” Lukas said as he struck one more, but it hardly flinched.

“Ask your dicky folks for help as our defensive circle is getting narrower, they are gaining on us,” Rhaegar muttered, taking out the head of one, with a few of the rotten body parts spattering at my feet.

“*Leave the prey, and turn to the predator,

The one that impersonates your mother.

Pierce through the organ like a stake,

That lures the broody sailors in their trap*.”

The voices of invisible folks echolate as if sensing my urgency and desperation.

“Okay, the first two lines are easy to decipher,” I said, turning my attention from those monsters to that Siren.

“The organ refers here is the heart, as that is where a stake is pierced. That, and these Siren’s magic works from their hearts, through which they lure the sailors,” Rhaegar spoke while one of the monsters hit him hard on the bicep, making him fall on his back. Damon struck it, cutting through the knee, but the other monster scraped his shoulder and kicked his back. The strongest among them hit Lukas on his crotch, making him growl in pain. Fuck! The only way to save my mates is to kill this fucking Siren.

The rays of raw energy erupted from my fingers and eyes. I swirled around my fingers, causing the rays to surround my body which made me look like a pulsating star, with the sharp rings of white rays revolving around my body. My wolves acted on cue and took their position beside me, exposing their razor-sharp fangs like deadly icicles, emitting their energy rays and creating a deadly beam.

The monsters subdued my mates and trapped me from all the sides as if their non-existent brains were coded and controlled by that bitchy Siren.

“Well Natasha, I have to say that your mates were a little disappointing.” She said with a playful tone, but I couldn’t shake away the deadly glint in her eyes. She reminded me of that Dracula bride who had this foolish habit of wasting the time, talking and giving fake threats to the enemies, trying to imbibe terror in them, but their whole plan goes a shit way when the enemy takes the first slice of cake, which is precisely what I was going to do.

The spark of energy released from me struck her on her feet, making her shudder violently, and she fell on her ass. Her snarl turned into a shock which made her look ugliest.

“Well, let me show you my tricks!” She snarled, standing back on her feet, brushing off the dirt from her rear. Her clawed wings open up, revealing the withered skin beneath. I projected my rays straight for her heart, but she was quick enough to dodge by fluttering her wings and flying away. My rays hit her wings instead, punching big holes, forcing her to crash to the ground.

Another crashing sound behind me made me turn. It was Damon thrashing a giant monster who was trying to attack me from behind. My other mates too joined the fun, fighting with them at a closer range, making their weapons clash on the hard bodies of those monsters. As the blade connected with the bodies, the sparks of energy flew out in the dark, making it appear like a light show.

The Siren leapt on me, but I dodged her by bending on my knees and falling backwards. This caught her off-guard. I quickly pushed my torso back upright and swing the sword, barely missing her heart by mere inches. She stumbled backwards but regained her footing.

One of the monsters hit Lukas on his thigh, causing him to lose his balance. Rhaegar attacked that monster from the rear, but it was quick enough to rotate its head and shoot a projectile of foul-smelling black mucus, which coiled around his body like a rope limiting his ability to move. Now, it turned to face Damon. Damon knew that there was no way he could defeat this monster, so he threw his sword at me, but before I could catch it, the Siren took off and beat it to me, now holding the sword and trying to fly higher, with the holes on her wings almost healed.

“I need help!” I mind-linked my wolves. They nodded and took their positions. The black and red ones stood side by side, and bluish-grey climbed on top of them. I ran at them at full speed gaining momentum, climbing on them to gain the height. I jumped and catch on the left wing of the Siren, tearing it apart with my claw. We both fell to the ground with the sword sliding away from our reach. I tried to grab it, but she held my leg, digging her talons into my flesh, making me difficult to move. My wolves lunged at the monsters who were aiming to attack me. The pain of torn flesh was too much to bear, making me struggle hard to reach the sword. She succeeded in pulling me towards her, away from the sword, and was almost on the verge of tearing my face. But then something hit my left foot. It was my mom’s dagger which Lukas silently pushed towards me.

“Use your brain!” Lukas mind linked me. The ring gifted by him sparkled on my finger as if giving me the power. I loosened my body, making her believe that I surrendered. She as expected smirked in overconfidence and relaxed her hold on me.

“I expected more than the mere parlour tricks from Morrighan!” The sound of the words coming from her mouth got replaced by the gurgling sound of black mucus bubbling from her mouth as I pierced the dagger straight into her heart, causing her to choke on her blood.

“There are more Sirens!” She warned me before turning into the black mist.

“Then I will impale them all,” was my smirky reply.

The moment she evaporated into the mist, everything sired by her started to lose their forms, including those monsters. My mates, wolves and I were once alone in the creepy forest. A small narrow path appeared ahead of us as if luring us to follow it. I helped my mates on their feet. They were already healed, so it was easier for me. The path built itself as we moved forward as if our steps triggered it. It looked like an animation, reminding me of the opening credits of the Games of Thrones. It felt as if an invisible wand is waved, and a path is created.

“So sweethearts, any plans once we are done with this shit and double shit?” I asked my mates.

“Shit and double shit!?” Lukas asked.

“Well, shit is this cursed forest, and double shit is Aurora and her fucking team.” The main intention of my conversation was to declare my pregnancy.

“Well, I have not thought of anything, but I am sure that I’ll be following you wherever you desire,” Lukas spoke. Rhaegar was unusually quiet, as if not interested in our conversation.

“Rhaegar?!” I asked him.

“Don’t want to feed any false hopes,” he replied.

“Are you implying that we’ll never make it alive?” Damon poked him.

“Oh, shut up Damon! Give him some space. Stop being a bully!” I warned him.

“Okay, then talk about you,” Damon asked me. I sucked in a deep breath, trying to choose my words carefully because what I was going to say would not be acceptable to Damon, given I’m pregnant with his child.

“I’ve decided to settle in Chicago!” I spoke in a firm voice.

“Are you fucking serious? I thought we all would be staying in Artena.” Damon narrowed his eyes in anger.

“No way, I miss my phone, social media and Taco Bell. In short, I miss my life in Chicago!”

“So, you are planning to return to your fucker husband? I wish I had killed him before.” He snarled. Lukas grabbed his shoulder, trying to calm him down.

“I am not staying in Artena or Campo, and I’m not returning to Derreck. We’ll stay together in Chicago. Your headquarter is over there, so you should be technically staying there. Whereas, I am planning to open a nightclub. Lukas and Rhaegar can help me.”

“Why just a nightclub and not a stripper’s club?” Damon spoke, but I was so naïve to understand the taunt behind it.

“Really! The thought crossed my mind, but I was scared to discuss it with you. This was Harold’s idea. He even asked me if he could work as a stripper, but I declined him firmly, as he doesn’t meet the criteria. His cock--”

“Are you serious…WOMAN?! Are you just playing fucking dumb, or you really are? There is no way you are going to open a stripper’s club, and I’m going to kill Harold!” he snarled with furiousness coating his voice.

“Stop it both of you, and let’s focus on that shit ahead of us,” Lukas spoke, pointing at a dark cave-like opening. It resembled the mouth of a monster, and the moment we entered, it felt as if we were swallowed alive. The deeper we went, it felt as if we were entering the belly of the beast. The thin soles of my converse hit the jagged rocky floor. The coldness left, and the air became thick with humidity, making it difficult to breathe. The darkness was so thick that it was impossible to see ahead than mere a few inches. My razor vision was just not enough. We were walking through the tunnel with uneven walls, careful to avoid scratching our skin on the sharp edges of the walls. The tunnel branched into two, and the left one was illuminated in a strange light as if beckoning us to proceed that way. The branch led us to a huge opening, like a belly of a beast. Our steps halted at the edge of a lake, illuminated by the thousands of fireflies, which looked like the demonic version of actual fireflies. They were with their own sets of fangs, and jagged skin, whereas their wings resembled those of the bats, with black spines on the yellowish wingspan.

The waters were jade and appeared to be carrying a glint of gold when the surface was disturbed. The more I looked at it, it seemed that I was drowning in its depth without even putting my foot inside it. It appeared like a living entity, almost ready to swallow us into its never-ending depths. It seemed like a hibernating monster, waiting for centuries like a precarious predator for its prey. The moment the prey will set its foot, it will take the form of a ferocious beast and gulp down the poor soul.

“Now what!?” I said turning around. A lump formed in my throat, and breath hitched in my lungs when I realized that we were surrounded by the water on all sides. The path through which we came disappeared, and we had only one option left.

The one which I dreaded!!

“*Easy to find without a clue,

The only passage ahead of you.

Forget to swim, and embrace the fates,

To greet the estranged wights of mates*.”
