Chapter 69 Spirit Wolves Awaken

Chapter 69 Spirit Wolves Awaken
Erick's POV

Deborah's forehead glowed with a silver mark, pulsing like her heartbeat. Erick felt the Eclipse Bond react, a rush of power so strong it pushed him back.

His own eyes turned gold, and the connection between them felt ancient and powerful.

"Deborah," he said softly, reaching for her. His instincts warned him, but he didn't know why.

The mark wasn't fading; it was getting brighter, a perfect crescent moon that pulled at something deep inside his hybrid self.

She swayed, her amber eyes wide with shock, and maybe remembrance. The Spirit Wolf's warnings still echoed, but Erick couldn't really hear them.

All he saw was the power coming off Deborah, making the air around her seem to bend.

Then he felt it.

A stir across the land, faint at first, then growing stronger. The Eclipse Bond brought him feelings that weren't his own, ancient knowledge waking up after a long sleep, like something coming out of darkness.

His hybrid senses reached out, following the energy threads that now spread over the land like a giant, invisible net.

Spirit wolves. Dozens, maybe hundreds.

"Do you feel that?" Deborah whispered. Her voice was quiet but held a command that made his wolf want to obey.

Even though the Seed might be making her weak, what was waking up inside her now made her stronger than ever.

Erick nodded, unable to speak. Through the Bond, he felt what she felt, old beings waking up from thousands of years of sleep.

They were waking up everywhere: in caves, under trees, in mountains, in sacred places. They were all responding to the same powerful call.

They were responding to her.

The truth hit him hard. Deborah's energy, that new, glowing power on her forehead, was spreading across the land like ripples.

Every spirit wolf that had been asleep for three thousand years, since a big past disaster, was now waking up. Answering. Rising.

"They're coming," he said, his voice rough with wonder and a strong desire to protect her. "All of them. They're coming to you."

Deborah turned, and he saw the same understanding in her eyes. There was a flicker of fear, quickly hidden by her Alpha strength.

But he felt it through the Bond, the fear of becoming something new and being forced into a future she hadn't chosen.

He moved to her side, their shoulders touching. "Whatever this is, we'll face it together."

Her hand found his, fingers wrapping together with a hidden desperation. The touch sent sparks of power up his arm; the Eclipse Bond sang with energy.

For a moment, he saw her as the Bond did not just his mate or his Alpha, but something ancient, powerful, and beautiful.

A queen of moonlight and shadow, a link between worlds, someone who would change everything.

The first spirit wolf appeared at the edge of the clearing. It was smaller than the huge guardian they had seen before, but still amazing. Its silver fur glowed faintly, and its eyes, like starlight, stared at Deborah.

Erick felt a strong urge to protect her and stepped slightly in front. But she squeezed his hand.

"No," she said softly. "This is... this is right."

More wolves appeared. They came from the forest, from shadows, from nowhere. Some were huge, ancient beings that made the ground shake. Others were thinner, perhaps younger, but all had that special, otherworldly look.

They formed a loose circle around the clearing, dozens of spirit wolves watching silently with knowing eyes.

Through the Eclipse Bond, Erick felt Deborah's power reach out to them, recognizing them as they recognized her. It was a deep, natural connection.

His hybrid side understood it, even though his human mind struggled to grasp how big it all was.

"They're heralds," Deborah said quietly. He knew she was speaking from new knowledge inside her. "When spirit wolves rise, it means the world's balance has changed.

War is coming. Not just between groups, but something bigger. Something that will decide the future of all supernatural beings."

Those words should have scared him. Instead, Erick felt a strange calm. This was what the Hybrid Crown prophecy was about. This was why the Eclipse Bond had formed, why his hybrid nature had awakened, why Deborah had been chosen for the Seed, despite its cost.

They were just pieces in a plan much larger than they had imagined.

More spirit wolves kept arriving, filling the forest until it glowed with soft light. Erick counted at least fifty, then stopped as more appeared. They were quiet, respectful, and focused entirely on Deborah. On the glowing mark on her forehead.

"Erick." Her voice shook now, her strong Alpha front cracking to show the scared, overwhelmed woman underneath. "I don't know what to do."

He squeezed her hand, pulling her closer until he felt her heartbeat. "You don't need to know. You just need to be who you are. Who you've always been."

The Eclipse Bond pulsed between them. He poured all his feelings into it, his trust in her, his belief that she was strong enough for anything, his certainty that she was exactly who the world needed.

Even if it terrified him. Even if it meant seeing her change into something he couldn't protect.

She took a shaky breath, then stood straighter. Her Alpha side returned, shoulders back, chin up. The lunar mark glowed brighter, and Erick felt her energy shift from fear to purpose.

The spirit wolves reacted right away. Together, they moved closer, lining up tighter around the clearing. Their ghostly shapes looked a bit more solid, more real.

The biggest one, a huge wolf with fur that shone like moonlight, stepped forward.

Erick understood what the gesture meant. His breath caught in his throat.

The spirit wolf walked towards Deborah with slow steps. When it reached her, it lowered its big head, its front legs bending as it sank in total submission. A bow. A sign of loyalty that Erick had only read about in the oldest books, the kind of respect shown to royalty.

For queens.

One by one, the other spirit wolves did the same. Fifty ghostly creatures, old warriors, knelt before Deborah as if she were the strongest being in the supernatural world.

Like she was their queen.

Deborah's hand trembled in his, and through their bond, Erick felt her shock, just like his own.

But underneath it, deeper and scarier, he felt something else waking up inside her. Recognition. Acceptance.

Destiny.
