Chapter 92 The Choice That Burned
Chapter 92
Lyra's POV
Where are you going?” Rosa's voice cracked like a whip.
I froze in the middle of the room, my hand folded to my chest. My fingers curled into a fist.
“To face that bastard since he had been asking me for a while.”
“I will not let you go,” Rosa looked up from where she sat and replied.
I clenched my jaw. “So, for innocent lives just keep dying?”
She flattened her lips. My eyes locked on hers. Behind those eyes, laid intense anger.
I stepped back a little from her.
“How many innocent lives are going to be lost yet? How many are still going to meet their ends with this pretense."
“How come he didn't touch you?” Rosa's eyes widened like a ghost had found its way into the room. “How come he spares your lives?”
My legs carried me back and forth like water spilled out through a broken dam.
"Did you and him strike a deal that he should spare your life and that of the king to the expense of letting innocent fall to death for the sins they know nothing about,”
I paced in front of Rosa, as these questions tumbled out of my mouth.
“Noo…” Rosa cut-in, she quickly shot up her hand in the air. Her finger spread wide like she was swearing an oath, “I didn't have anything to do with Alpha Vexhood.
And what about the king?” I quickly asked, I pretended as if I didn't know, “ why didn't he touch him"
Noo… " lyra shook her head vigorously, her hair swung across her face "no one touches the king except the gods because he is ordained by the same gods."
Heat flooded my chest. My teeth grounded together. I couldn't stand still, my feet moved on their own, my feet swung forth and back in front of lyra like a cage animal. My fingers ran through my hair pulling out strands.
“So, how many innocent are sooner than expected going to meet their end soon from his wicked hands?”
I turned to face Rosa fully, my shoulder squared.
“I think I need to go now,”
“Where?”
“To see him? Whatever, he wants to use me for, let him go ahead. Either as a sacrifice to the moon goddess or …" I paused a bit , then a deep sigh followed, “ I just want him to stop this madness.”
“No…," Rosa replied emphatically, she stood up from where she sat and drifted towards me, her forefinger stopping an inch to my face. “I will not allow you, lyra,”
I watched her as her eyes fluttered wildly. I didn't move an inch.
“Listen,” her forefingers unmoved as she almost dug it into my eyes. “That man is the most dangerous being that has ever graced the face of this earth.”
I pushed her hand away, “So let me go and meet him, I can't stand here and be watching while innocent wolves fall to death,”
"Shut up your mouth there, and don't question my authority," Rosa ordered, relaunching her finger at my face, almost poking out my left eyeball from its socket. "this is not that hell hole pack that some rogues invade in a night and wipe everyone you care about off before running for your life to get here.”
"Listen Lyra, this is Stormfang pack!” Rosa's voice dropped, like she was dropping a dangerous secret. I think she was. “There are repercussions for every move you make and pack members who are loyal to him are watching you.”
“So that is why I didn't want to repeat myself here too. I vouched that evil must not happen to …”
“Sh…” Rosa quickly cut me off before I finished. She place her fingers on my upper lips, “listen dear, alpha Vexhood wielded so much power and controls the atmospheric here,”
My eyes widened pretentiously.
" Alpha Vexhood caused a lot of things to happen for his wishes to come to pass. That was why I warned you not to expose yourself to the world last week when the gods attacked the pack."
I looked at her lips. Filled with lies . An enormous one.
You can't cajole me again, Rosa. You can't fool me the way you fool me in my first life. I know she knew I had a lot to offer her , Rosa doesn't give loyalty to anyone when she doesn't have anything to gain from it.
“Let me go and meet him,” I replied, pushing her hand away from my face, for the umpteenth time.
“You are going nowhere!” Her hand went to her hips.
" Infact, I will instruct all the guards not to allow you out of the palace.”
She drifted out of the room. I could hear her distant voice as she gave orders to guards. The guards responded with, " yes your honor.”
A few minutes later she came back.
“You want to leave?” She said, turning to me and pointing to the doorway, “ you can now, let's see who would allow you to leave this palace.”
Ok,”I nodded slowly. Once. Twice. My face stayed calm. I didn't want to reveal my next plan.
“I think I can leave now right ?” I replied calmly, all I just wanted to do was to leave that room.
Yes,” Rosa replied, still buried in her anger.
I bowed and left. I didn't bother to utter a single word.
With determined steps. Not minding the pandemonium in the air. I marched directly like an army prepared for war into my room, locked the key locks tightly behind me.
Then I closed my eyes and reached deep inside of me.
Then I turned to my spirit form.
