Chapter 61 The Warnings

Chapter 61 The Warnings
Chapter 61

Lyra's POV.

Where has Rosa gone? At a time like this, when the entire pack is on fire. She just disappeared without telling anyone where she was going.

“Noooo!” Alpha Jax roared with anger. The intensity of the sound jolted me back to reality, The polished tiles beneath our feet trembled as if responding to his rage. The walls of the palace shook with fear.

Few of us who were with him saw him break down to his knees clutching the letters in his arms.

Alpha Jax knew what that letter represents. He understands the meaning each of the words in that letter carries.

Then he roared. The letter vibrated along with his hand.“I will not step down ! if it would take my life!”

He staggered back on his feet and looked in the face of everyone, “they fed my father with this garbage, till he passed away. He warned but I promise you, I will not back down!”

The palace doors burst open. Outside the palace hall, right there at the palace ground, were littered with injured wolves. Some were bleeding, some were moaning and groaning, others trying to stay alive.

I have prepared the caprica root extract and given to a few of them. The extract was strong to counter the stomach-borne toxins and purge the essence of the Rabadon fangs, the wood-gods venom that had entered their bloodstreams.

I have tried to use a gobbler ring to detect divine interference. I tried to sense what had gone wrong.

That was when it occurred to me that Alpha Vexhood had his hand in this.

No one in this land could invoke the gods and strike his people multiple times in a short period of time except Alpha Vexhood.

The roots have been so effective that several wolves who had been writhing with stomach cramps were now vomiting violently, coughing out blood.

Myself and a few other sympathizers that were helping the injured one out had bandaged them and applied necessary ointment.

“It's so bad that a stormfang pack is just big for nothing…” Brielle, uttered solemnly, kneeling down and applying bandages to one of the wolves “ They hardly have a competent healer and a functional clinic.”

Then another she-wolf scoffed, “it's because stormfang pack members are the wickedest wolves on earth. Their intent is the worst I have ever seen.”

Brielle turned and frowned.“How? What do you mean by that?

The she-wolf leaned closer, lowering her voice “The only healer they have, competent, caring and extremely devoted,” she whispered, reducing her voice to the nearest minimum and looking around if no one is listening, “they suddenly gang up against her and stone her to death…”

“What?” Brielle gasped, her mouth fallen apart in shock,"You don't mean it?

"Why not? They are meanest wolves on earth.” She hissed and replied, "Since that young healer died, mysteriously, they have been facing one turmoil or the other, I can't just wait to finish my contract and leave this demonic pack.”

Another wolf who was close by quickly countered. “Shut your filthy mouth up, I think you want the moon goddess to shut that your loud mouth of yours Mila was the greatest mistake this pack ever had,”

The other lady turned to Brielle, with wide eyes, “you see what I am saying? Never have I set my eyes on this set of wolves. Horrible are their first names.”

The pack sympathizer quickly countered.“Quiet, I am a member of this pack. Born and raised here,”

She continued, "she was a devil, disguised as an angel, she poisoned our water, the only water we had in the pack. She went ahead to kill the queen mother, and did a lot of wicked things to our pack. Before the wrath of the gods against this pack. We will never forgive her for doing all of this to us.”

She stood up on foot , walking towards the she-wolf and beating her chest, “I was one of those that stoned her to death and it was the happiest day of my life. Mila was as bad as evil.”

Then she turned and snapped her fingers at me ,” even this lyra that looked like Mila…”

I shrunk my brow. Pulling my eyebrow together. My jaw dropped, my mouth opened slightly. I didn't know what to say.

“Regardless of the great things she had done in this palace in the shortest time she had arrived here, anytime I see her, I just sometimes feel like stoning her to death.”

Everyone's attention turned to her. They stopped what they were doing and stared.“You see what I am saying,” the other lady scoffed, "they are devil incarnate. Bunch of animals. Many of them never disappoint me for once.”

The first lady stuck out her tongue, “let it be, loser. I am a proud pack member of the stormfang pack. If you don't like it here, pack your things and get out of here."

I changed my attention to the injured wolves I was attending to. I have heard enough of all their rubbish and nonsense talk.

A stark reminder that members of this pack just detest anything called Mila. Maybe it was a mistake that the moon goddess created Mila in this pack, who was just born to hate her.

I was applying the ointment, when I heard Rosa, her heels clicked on the floor , resounding towards me like a warning.

Then she snapped my hand, grabbing it tightly, “what are you doing Lyra, are you freaking out of your mind."

She whispered into my ears and got me out of the crowd and pulled me like a cow heading to the abattoir to give up his final breath.

We have moved away from the palace ground through the hall. Then she dragged us to a corner where no one would see or hear us.

“What the fuck do you think you are doing?!” Rosa bellowed, gritting her teeth, her eyes narrowed into mine. “We are leaving this pack now!”

“Noo…”

“We are … lyra,” Rosa commanded, still locking her eyes into mine as if a precious stone was hiding behind it. She paused a little and then exhaled, “something bad is about to happen, I really mean it when I say now.”

“No… I wont”

I could still read meanings behind those glittering eyes of hers that bored me..

“Something greater, powerful but wicked that is capable of sweeping this pack off the face of the earth is on his way?”

“How do you know?”

“I know don't ask me further stupid questions lyra, I called you here because you are very important to me you saved my life… “

Then allow me to save other people's lives the way I did to you too…

“Noo … I won't…”

“Yes, you will,”

She grabbed my wrist tightly, and pressed her sharp nails like needles into my skin.

At that moment, my patience had worn thin. I was tired of people breathing down my neck, trying to control me.

A pulse of energy surged through my palm, small , controlled. It swiftly passed into her hand.

She quickly snapped her hand. “What is that lyra?”

“Just a reminder, your honor…” I said softly, stepping back away from her, “...that you can't stop me.”

I turned and walked away from her presence heading ba
ck to the palace ground where the injured wolves were.

I was about to get to the palace ground when a thick thunder struck from the sky…
