Chapter 48 Whispers Of Betrayal
Chapter 48
Lyra's POV.
“I was the one in charge of that too.”
“I think at this time I have to admit that I will start to come and take classes under you, Mother. Not to be disrespectful, you are indeed a cunning demon.”
The two of them laughed quietly, not in a kind of way to turn the attention of people to them. But I could hear them clearly.
Me?”
Yes, if you say so,” she countered, “everything to make you win, to make you sit on the throne permanently as a queen with your fated mate, Alpha Ryder, on that throne. And I know that if you win, I win, and most importantly, our ambitions are fueled, guided, and orchestrated by one of the most powerful men of our time.
You mean Alpha Vexhood?
You are still asking me, daughter? Tell me who wouldn't destroy a whole race, a bloodline, and even a city when such a divine entity is behind you and our ambitions are aligned.”
Hmmm…” "Rosa beamed and nodded her head. That's thoughtful of you, Mother."
You take every opportunity at your disposal to wreak havoc and destroy every stumbling block to your progress.
So how did you prevent Mila from speaking that glorious day in the presence of the world? Because I knew that Alpha Jax just wanted Mila to speak; if she had spoken out, it would have messed up our plan.” Rosa paused a bit, but I was shocked she never spoke; she was struggling with words as if the gods were pressing down on her neck.
I thought it was still alpha Vexhood, handiwork in the spirit, trying to manipulate her speech and shutting her up.
No," Tracy cut in, "there was nothing like that.
So how did you do it, Mother? Please don't put me in limbo.
Ok, wait, remember the day you told me you were passing the night in Caramel's place because she was celebrating her birthday?
Rosa looked a bit like a pup forced to remember something important.
Yes, I could remember.”
That was the day I had finished whatever I wanted to do at home. Something told Mila to pay a visit to the clinic.
Mila was shocked to see me since I never pay her a visit, not even when Kael was still running the clinic.
That workaholic piece of shit,” Rosa scoffed. She then rolled her eyes. “Thank the goddess that the pack didn’t see her work too; they turned against her and paid her for evil.
I just lied to her that a friend of mine who lived in a crimson pack was in big debt, but the only way she could save herself was to take something to block her throat from not uttering a single word in the face of her debtor even when she would be threatened and beaten up.
You know Mila, with her stupid but compassionate mind, she said she could call an authority that could help settle the debt. I was told the money is much like ten thousand shekels.
That was when her shoulder dropped. I told her the only way she could save my poor friend was to prescribe medication that could block the throat, and she wouldn't speak to the point that the debtor would have pity on her mother.
Out of pity, she drafted out two medications; one was Vera… something; the name had skipped my mind, while the other was Silencium-9. She told me it is the most effective, and if given to someone, the person falls asleep, and then the effect starts to take place.
Mila wrote the dosage and what excess could cause. She warned not to leak out the prescription to anyone; if not, her healing license would be seized, and that stupid moribund clinic owned by Kael would be closed down.
“So use her prescription to kill her?”
They both burst into laughter.
Yes, so if you were me too, what would you do? I had to give the prescription to Lady Sarah, who went to purchase it in the black market in a distance pack.
I swear, Mother, Father will be proud in heaven to give birth to such a daughter.” Rosa scoffed. She is so stupid and irritating.
You can't blame her for that, though; she used to resemble Kael, her father.
They both burst into louder laughter. My body cringed from where I stood.
Rosa laughed out loud. “At least we were smart about it, and eventually we eventually took her out of the way.”
“No, point of correction, Mother, you took Mila out of the way, and that genius moved.”
You have to go and meet Alpha Vexhood and let him fortify; no one would be able to touch you in the dream. Ask all the elders; we all planned this together. They and their family are working together.
Let go and eat.” Rosa concluded that Lyra had finished preparing the food.
I could hear footsteps from the verandah approaching the room. I changed back to my human form and walked out of the room.
I couldn't believe the revelation that I just heard
.
That was when I knew that Tracy, my stepmother, had crossed the line.
