Chapter 190 TAKE HIM AWAY
Chapter 188
Rosa’s POV
She said it bluntly, the way she had always said everything I had ever asked her.
Like someone who had rehearsed it before walking into the room.
“Don’t tell me you don’t understand, Lyra!”
I barked at Lyra like a mad dog on an anger spree.
Anger brewed through me like a rising ocean tide, ready to bring anything in its way to its knees.
Lyra flattened her lips, completely unmoved.
“I am not speaking in the language of the gods…”
I paused, letting my words sink in, my eyes glued to hers.
I took a step closer, my gaze still locked on her. My flat shoes scraped against the floor.
I gritted my teeth, my fingers curling into fists.
“Give me everything you took from Jax’s apartment. Now.”
My voice was barely above a whisper, but it was as sharp as a blade.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Lyra replied. Her voice was quiet, calm—just above a whisper.
It was like everything I said, no matter how loud, only hit a wall and came back to me.
She didn’t move.
“You know exactly what I’m talking about,” I countered quickly, my gaze shifting to the idiot security guard standing beside her.
He lowered his head like a scared puppy that had disobeyed its master, searching for somewhere to hide.
I stepped away from Lyra and faced him.
“You might lose your job… or get into serious trouble right now,” I said calmly. “Didn’t you tell me I came to take the key in the early hours of today?”
I paused.
“And weren’t you the one who used a crowbar to break the door? So, am I supposed to believe I did something I didn’t do?”
“Whatever he tells you, you can believe it,” Lyra cut in quickly from where she stood.
I turned to her, like someone forced to reveal a secret.
“Since late last night, he and his friends have been drinking, celebrating the new harvest festival. He might have been drunk and misplaced the keys to Alpha Jax’s quarters.”
She tilted her head slightly.
“Ask the other maids. I’ve been in my room all night—I’ve been having cramps. Believe him or not, that’s your choice.”
Her words sank into me.
I bowed my head slightly… then—
Bang!
My hand connected with his face.
He staggered back.
Bang! Bang!
I hit him again—hard enough to alert the guards outside.
“You… bloody, stinking liar!”
I turned sharply at Lyra’s voice as it echoed through the room, then faced the guard again, my face tightening.
“Guard!” I screamed at the top of my voice.
No response.
No sound of boots rushing in.
Anger surged through me.
“Guards!”
My voice was loud enough to rip the roof off the building.
Moments later, a guard rushed in.
“Take this liar away and lock him up until he’s ready to tell the truth.”
“My… my lord… I am innocent. I swear to the gods…” His voice trembled as he raised his hands in desperation.
“Quiet!” I barked, roaring like a frustrated beast that had gone hunting and caught nothing.
“Lock him up with armed criminals until he is ready to speak the truth. He has stolen something that belongs to the throne and refuses to give it up.”
The guard grabbed him and cuffed his hands.
“You can choose to disobey my order if you like,” I added coldly. “Remember, the king is not here—he has traveled.”
Lyra’s eyes met mine.
Something told me she knew the truth—that the king was dead, and I was about to take control.
The guard nodded.
“And if you compromise my orders, death awaits you.”
The guard’s eyes flickered with fear.
“Your honor,” the accused guard stammered, “I swear, I know nothing about this—”
He was dragged out before he could finish.
Silence returned.
I turned to Lyra.
“I still don’t believe you.”
I paused.
“But you can go for now.”
I stepped closer.
“Leaving now doesn’t mean you won’t be packing your things and leaving this palace tonight.”
Lyra turned and walked away—unmoved, unshaken.
And then I saw it.
A faint smile on her lips.
I couldn’t understand it.
The entire day had been chaos—from Leo’s fight and survival at the orchard farm, to rushing back to secure Jax’s property, only to discover all his valuables had already been carted away.
And I knew one thing—
Lyra’s handwriting was all over it.
I walked back into the room, buying myself time.
Should I write to Alpha Vexhood about taking over the pack? He would likely reject it.
Or should I send word to Alpha Ryder to fill the void Jax had left behind?
I walked into my room, took another shower, and changed into something more presentable.
I needed to call all the staff and workers in the palace.
I would tell them Alpha Jax had traveled—and would be gone for two to three weeks.
And until his return…
I would be in charge of all administrative affairs.
Everyone would report to me.
I would have them gather in the palace hall within the next hour.
