Chapter 180 WHEN ALLIES VANISH
Rosa’s POV.
I promise not to give him any gold bar again, not like the way I did with that stupid, godforsaken chief prison warden that dragged me into trouble.
Never again.
Moreover, I can’t trust him. A man without guts is more dangerous than an enemy that shows his teeth.
I watched his lips how it trembled before he reveal the location of Brielle at alpha Dominion's pack. Something tells me he is lying. I have deal with both male and female long enough to know when one is lying.
He could still collect whatever I promised him and turn his back on me the next second.
I know his type. The weak and greedy type.
The kind that bends with the wind and your are absent.
I turned and walked back into my bedroom. My steps were slow at first, then faster, like something was chasing me from behind. My chest felt tight. My thoughts would not stay in one place.
I shut the door with a soft push.
The room felt too quiet. Too big and empty.
I moved straight to the bathroom. I didn’t even think twice. I pulled off my clothes one after the other and let them fall where they wanted. The dress dropped by the door. My blouse landed on the chair. My skirt slipped from my waist and pooled around my feet.
I stepped out of it.
For a moment, I just stood there.
Still Bare.
I looked at myself in the mirror.
My body looked tired. Not weak, but worn. Like something had been eating me from the inside. My skin had lost its glow. My eyes looked heavy.
I lifted my hand and touched my cheek. Cold.
“So this is what you have become…” I whispered to myself.
The stress had not been kind.
From Caramel, That betrayal still burned like fresh fire. Someone I trusted more than blood. Someone I gave everything to. Only for her to stab me from behind and spread her legs for alpha Ryder like I meant nothing.
Then the wolves…
Young ones. Old ones. All watching. All whispering and judging me at the same time. Waiting for me to slip and fall.
I stepped into the shower.
The water came down slowly at first, then stronger. It hit my head and rolled down my face, my neck, my chest. It moved across my stomach and down to my thighs.
I closed my eyes.
For a second, I let myself feel nothing.
Just the water and the sound that follows.
But even that peace did not last. My mind dragged me back again. Back to Brielle. Back to the mess. Back to the lies I tried to cover up.
The more I tried to clean it…
The dirtier it became.
I clenched my jaw.
“No time,” I muttered.
I opened my eyes and quickly finished up. I stepped out, grabbed a towel, and dried my body in quick strokes. No care. No softness. Just fast movements.
I wore a simple skirt and blouse. Nothing too loud. Nothing too quiet. Just enough to look put together.
I sprayed my perfume.
The scent filled the room, but it didn’t hide the tension sitting on my skin.
I grabbed my bag and left.
An hour later, my steps echoed as I walked into Alpha Vexhood’s territory.
The place felt different today.
The guards stood straight, their heads slightly bowed as I passed. The servants stopped what they were doing and paid their respect.
“Long live the queen…”
Their voices were soft but clear.
But something was wrong.
Their eyes…
They looked at me like I was new. Like I didn’t belong here anymore. Like they were trying to read something on my face and could not understand it.
Their body language had shifted.
Small changes, but I noticed everything.
I slowed down.
My eyes moved from one face to another.
What are they seeing that I am not?
Before I could think further, two priests approached me.
They wore white robes that looked freshly pressed. No wrinkles. No dust. Their steps were calm and even. Their hands were clasped behind their backs.
The smell of their cologne reached me before they did.
Clean. Soft.
For a moment, it felt like stepping into a different world. A place that had no chaos. No blood. No betrayal.
Just peace.
Their shoes shined under the light.
Everything about them looked perfect.
“Long live queen,” they said at the same time.
Their voices blended together like one.
I didn’t answer.
I couldn’t.
I didn’t want that greeting. Not now.
I looked past them.
“Where is Alpha Vexhood?”
They exchanged a glance. Just a quick one. But I caught it.
Something was wrong.
I stared harder.
One of them, the bald one, stepped forward slightly. His lips parted, then closed again.
“Your honor… honor…”
He paused.
I stared at his mouth. Waiting.
Don’t say that.
“Don’t tell me Alpha Vexhood is sick,” I cut in quickly. My voice came out sharp. “Don’t tell me he won’t see visitors.”
I stepped closer.
“I am more than a visitor.”
The other priest shifted his weight. His fingers tightened behind his back.
The bald one swallowed.
“Our lord… just embarked on a two-day journey this morning…”
My heart skipped.
“…he set out just two hours ago.”
Silence.
Everything inside me froze.
“That is not possible!” I snapped. My voice rose before I could stop it.
I pointed straight at his face. My finger almost touched his nose.
“No… no… no…”
My head shook.
“You can’t tell me that…”
My hand moved to my hair. I grabbed it hard and pulled.
The world around me began to spin.
This can’t be happening. Not now. Not when everything is already falling apart.
My knees gave in.
I dropped to the ground.
Hard.
The cold floor hit me, but I didn’t feel it.
It felt like something had been ripped out of me.
Worse than when my father died.
At least then… I understood.
This… this was different.
This was fear.
Pure fear.
People around began to turn.
Whispers started.
Some gasped.
Others made low sounds, like they had just heard something terrible.
The two priests quickly bent down beside me.
“What is wrong, your honor?” one of them asked. His voice, softer now.
“Is there anything we need to know?”
I lifted my head slowly and looked at them.
Their faces were filled with concern.
They had no idea.
No idea what was at stake.
I couldn’t tell them.
How could I?
Would they understand?
Would they even believe me?
Do they have the power to stop Jax from reaching Alpha Dominion’s pack?
Do they have the power to end Brielle before everything goes worse?
Do they even know what kind of storm is coming?
My thoughts raced.
Leo…
Something about him felt off.
He could break our deal at any moment.
He could turn everything against me.
And if that happens…
I couldn’t even finish the thought.
My chest tightened again.
“Alpha Vexhood will return soon,” one of them said gently. “You share a bond like father and daughter.”
I almost laughed.
Almost.
They reached for me and helped me up.
Their grip was firm but careful.
“You cannot stay like this in the eyes of others,” the other one added.
I looked around.
People were still watching.
“What is it?” he asked again. “Tell us. We will find a solution.”
I looked at their faces properly this time.
They looked… hopeful.
But to me, they looked like men who had no idea what they were offering.
A small laugh slipped out of my mouth.
Then it grew louder and darker.
It didn’t sound like me anymore.
It sounded… broken.
Like I was about to lose my mind.
I leaned closer to them.
My eyes lock
ed with theirs.
“Can any of you help me strike down my enemies…” I said slowly.
“…living in a far place?”
They froze for a second.
Then—
“Ahhhh…”
They burst into deep laughter.
The sound echoed around us.
“Your honor…” one of them said between laughs.
“That is the easiest thing to do…”
